Atlanta may be known for its lemon pepper wings, but an argument can be had that Georgia’s largest city is the chicken and waffles mecca.
According to culinary lore, chicken and waffles came upon the scene in the early 1600s from the Dutch. Since then, countless generations have enjoyed it. There are many restaurants here in Atlanta that even specialize in chicken and waffles.
We’re going to show you some of the best places where you can find chicken and waffles in Atlanta.

BQE Restaurant And Lounge
262 Edgewood Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30303 | (404) 996-6159

Here’s what one reviewer says about BQE’s food: “I frequent BQE a lot & I’ve had to wait for my food, but their food is exceptional! And yes I’ve received the wrong order,, but the waitress immediately corrected my order. My favorite is their Red Velet Chicken & Waffles…I suggest that you try the Fried Catfish! The service is great, but can’t expect the wait staff to be at your beckoning call in a crowded restaurant! The atmosphere is exactly what you’d expect at a restaurant lounge! Remember you get what you give…I get great service because I respect what the wait staff have to do & I tip well for good service! Read the reviews, but decide for yourself!”
Chicken+Beer
6000 N Terminal Pkwy, Atlanta, GA 30320 | (404) 209-3905

Tucked inside Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, Chicken+Beer has some great chicken and waffles.
Here’s what one reviewer says about Chicken+Beer. “Even though the walk to this restaurant was a little long it made getting that extra bit of chicken, waffles and biscuits even better.
It is even more awesome that they offer many flights of beer and we took that opportunity to try some local favorites. We tried some local Atlanta brews and each one of them was a treat of its own. Our favorite was sweet water brewery. We loved the chicken and waffles meal and we love just the fried chicken. Everything tasted moist and delicious and the service was impeccable. Our waiter really showed a sense of Southern pride when we were ordering and made sure to ask us where we were traveling to.”Corner Grille
3823 Main St, Atlanta, GA 30337 (404) 767-1135

This College Park restaurant does New Orleans-inspired fare with the best of them (outside Louisiana). Adding a twist to their dishes, the Corner Grill hits the mark big-time with Jerk Chicken and Waffles.

Here’s what one reviewer says about Nana’s. “Ate here with my family and the food was AMAZING! Nothing fancy about the establishment & the service is ok but the food makes up for all of it! We had a variety of things the best were the fried green tomatoes, beignets, chicken sausage, creole seafood omelet, the potatoes and the chicken & red velvet w/ pecans waffle. The chicken was the best! The other items were so so the two egg sausage breakfast, the Cajun grits & strawberry waffle. We definitely will be back soon.”

299 Moreland Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30307 | (678) 888-4884

Hattie B’s Hot Chicken is one of Atlanta’s best spots for hot chicken, but it also serves waffles.
Here’s what one reviewer says about Hattie B’s Hot Chicken. “Oh so yummies! I could have just had the waffles and been palatably pleased. I also had the chicken sandwich. Listed as “hot” chicken sandwich, I requested “mild”. Had I not had the forethought, there is no way that I would have been able to eat the sandwich, as I even had to drink the chicken pieces into the blue cheese to eat it. Heat is an understatement. The coleslaw, which comes on the chicken sandwich was a bit too vinegary for my taste but wasn’t completely off putting. I would get the sandwich again, as well as recommend it to others. Just get an extra lemonade to wash it down. Drink sizes are on the smaller scale.
Helen’s Hot Chicken
200 Edgewood Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30303 | (404) 731-3369

Helen’s Hot Chicken on Edgewood also has some great chicken and waffles.
Here’s what one reviewer says about Helen’s Hot Chicken. “Excellent excellent food!!!!! An instagram food blogger featured this restaurant on his page and it looked amazing. I don’t live near this establishment so I had to wait for the right opportunity to make the trip to the city. Boy am I glad I did! This lace did not disappoint! I ordered their chicken sandwich which was AMAZING!!!! My cousin ordered the chicken and waffles. Can, we just take a moment to talk about how good the waffle was?!?!? Their waffle was so yummy with a nice chew that it put all other waffles to shame! I highly recommend trying this place, even if you don’t live near the city it’s worth the drive! I demolished the sandwich without getting the chance to take a pic. But I screen shot my cousins video of his food.”

3725 Main St, Atlanta, GA 30337 | (404) 748-4244

Johnny’s World Famous Chicken & Waffles is one of the best food spots in College Park. The eatery is co-owned by R&B singer Ne-Yo, his celebrity chef wife Crystal Smith and reality TV star Karlie Redd.

We had the red velvet waffle, Nashville hot chicken sandwich with waffle fries, & the Fab 4 (eggs, bacon, potatoes, & waffle). I’m sorry I have no pictures but we were starving once the food came out! I will definitely go again to try the salmon & lamb chops served after 4pm.”

The Atlanta dining scene welcomed a new gem this month as celebrity chef and Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA) Season 16 cast member Kelli Ferrell officially opened the second location of her acclaimed restaurant, Nana’s Chicken-N-Waffles, in Sandy Springs.
As you know, chicken and waffles is my thing.
The grand opening, held on August 22, 2025, at The Prado Shopping Center in the space formerly occupied by Marlow’s Tavern, marked a significant milestone in Ferrell’s culinary journey, blending Southern hospitality with a vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere.
The new eatery also signaled another culinary feather in the cap for the Sandy Springs restaurant scene, which is quickly becoming a foodie destination.
What’s On The Menu at Nana’s Chicken-N-Waffles?
Nana’s Chicken-N-Waffles offers a menu rooted in family recipes dating back to 1939. The menu focuses on Southern comfort food, with a highlight on their signature chicken and waffles. Here’s a look at some menu items:
- Traditional Waffle: A golden, buttery Belgian waffle paired with crispy fried chicken wings (typically three per order), served with hot butter syrup.
- Flavored Waffles: Unique options include:
- Oreo Waffle: Belgian waffle topped with Oreo cookie pieces and a cream glaze reminiscent of Oreo filling.
- Red Velvet Waffle: Rich, cocoa-infused waffle paired with chicken.
- Apple Cinnamon Waffle: Warm, spiced waffle with a sweet apple twist.
- Banana Nut Waffle: Nutty and sweet, paired with chicken

Where Is Nana’s Chicken-N-Waffles Located in Sandy Springs?
Located at 5600 Roswell Road in a 2,800-square-foot space. Here is a map to help you find it.
The new Nana’s Chicken-N-Waffles offers an elevated yet cozy dining experience, staying true to Ferrell’s vision of making guests feel like they’re at their grandmother’s table.
“This is an elevated Nana’s, but it’s still cozy and comfortable, and it still feels like you’re at home,” Ferrell told EBONY in an exclusive interview.
The grand opening event doubled as a star-studded celebration, merging Southern comfort with Hollywood flair. Ferrell, dubbed the “Queen of Waffles,” hosted a family-friendly preview party for Disney’s Freakier Friday, the sequel to the 2003 film Freaky Friday.
Guests, including RHOA castmates like Shamea Morton, Cynthia Bailey, and Angela Oakley, enjoyed a red-carpet affair showcasing Ferrell’s signature style and culinary creations.
The event featured a vibrant menu sampling, with highlights including red velvet, banana pudding, peach cobbler, lemon, and cinnamon roll waffles, alongside Southern staples like shrimp and grits, catfish and grits, fried green tomatoes, and New Orleans-style beignets.
Ferrell’s journey to this moment began with the original Nana’s Chicken-N-Waffles, which she opened in Conyers, Georgia, in 2016, before relocating to McDonough in 2022.
Inspired by her grandmother Shirley, whose face graces the restaurant’s logo, Ferrell has built a brand rooted in family traditions and her Baltimore and Louisiana heritage.
“I named the restaurant after my grandmother,” Ferrell shared on RHOA Season 16, Episode 1. “This little 1,500-square-foot restaurant turned into this huge success.”
The Sandy Springs location responds to overwhelming demand for a spot inside the perimeter, offering an expanded menu with favorites like the Peach Pecan Waffle and off-menu specials such as the Honey Lobster Sriracha Waffle.
Beyond the restaurant, Ferrell’s entrepreneurial spirit shines through her product line, including Nana’s waffle mix, stone-ground Cajun grits, and a luxurious 24K gold-flaked maple syrup, all available for nationwide shipping.
Her 2019 cookbook, Kooking with Kelli: Kollection of Family Recipes from Nana’s Chicken-N-Waffles, shares her family-inspired recipes, while her new mimosa mix, blending pineapple and grapefruit, adds a tropical twist to brunch cocktails.
The Sandy Springs location operates daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., serving breakfast, lunch, and brunch. The restaurant joins other dining options at The Prado, including Colonial Kitchen, Iron Age Korean BBQ, and Genki Noodles and Sushi.
Ferrell’s commitment to community also remains strong, as she continues her role as a culinary partner and ambassador for Meals on Wheels Atlanta, supporting seniors facing food insecurity.
As a single mother of four daughters—Chloe, Chance, Chasiti, and Chelsi—Ferrell balances her thriving career with personal challenges, including a high-profile divorce from her ex-husband, Chuvalo Mark Ferrell.
Despite these hurdles, she remains focused on building generational wealth and expanding her culinary empire. “You see the real-life challenges of entrepreneurship,” Ferrell noted in an EBONY interview, reflecting on her journey showcased on RHOA Season 16.
Final Word
Nana’s Chicken-N-Waffles in Sandy Springs promises to be a must-visit for foodies and fans alike, offering a taste of tradition and innovation.

Our server explained the whole menu, and she recommended many things. We ended up setting on the breakfast platter and some hummus.
The breakfast platter was nice, and it had a lot of things such as cheese, labneh, jam, and many other things. The plate was good but we thought it would be more varied, but overall it was fresh and it tasted good! The hummus was not our favorite as it had an interesting taste. The complimentary bread was excellent as well!

The portion sizes are fairly small (the appetizers are just as big). The descriptions on the menu are a bit misleading.”
