ATLANTA, GA — Georgia’s thriving film industry is once again shining bright as acclaimed director Judd Apatow sets up shop in the Peach State for his latest comedy, The Comeback King. The Universal Pictures project, which began principal photography in early April 2026, is currently filming key scenes across Macon, Savannah, and surrounding areas, injecting excitement and economic boosts into local communities.

The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has placed the region under a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe weather, with multiple rounds of storms expected from this afternoon through early Thursday morning.
Key Threats
Local meteorologists and the National Weather Service highlight several primary hazards:
- Damaging wind gusts: Up to 60 mph possible, capable of downing trees and power lines.
- Large hail: Potential for hail large enough to damage vehicles and property.
- Tornadoes: A few tornadoes possible, with a low but non-zero chance of a stronger (EF2+) tornado, particularly in western areas early on.
- Flash flooding: A Flood Watch is in effect from 11 p.m. today, with localized amounts exceeding 4 inches possible due to training storms. Urban areas, poor drainage spots, and flood-prone creeks are especially vulnerable.
The highest risk window for metro Atlanta is generally from 8 a.m. until noon, though storms could linger or develop in rounds overnight.

A slow-moving cold front combined with a warm, moist air mass (high dew points) and sufficient instability and shear is fueling the setup. During the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta is temporarily renamed Atlanta Stadium. This follows FIFA’s standard policy for the tournament.
FIFA enforces strict “clean venue” or “clean site” rules for the World Cup. These require removing or covering non-FIFA sponsor branding (logos, names, etc.) inside and around the stadium to prioritize official tournament sponsors and maintain a neutral commercial environment.
- Mercedes-Benz is the naming rights partner for the stadium (a long-term deal worth over $10 million annually), but it is not an official FIFA World Cup sponsor.

6. MercBenz Has The World’s Largest Video Board
The stadium has the claim to fame as having the largest video board in the world. This is the largest LED video display on Earth. It technological masterpiece was designed, manufactured and installed by Daktronics of Brookings, South Dakota. There are also more than 82,500 square feet of video displays around the stadium.
