They say Decatur is where it’s greater. While that may be true, it’s also home to some of the most beautiful green spaces in the Southeast. All the best parks in Decatur has some common ingredients: play spaces for kids, recreational grounds and areas for dogs.
Whether the weather in metro Atlanta is rising are falling judging by the temperature, it’s a perfect time to get out and about to visit a park in Decatur.
These are the best parks in Decatur
Taking advantage of the weather doesn’t have to require a lot of money or energy, but you have to get out of the house. One great place to soak up the sun and tranquil environs is the local park. From Eastlake to Glenwood to Glenlake, Decatur has several great parks to visit.

Here are a number of our favorite parks in Decatur, in no particular order:Oakhurst Park
307 Feld Ave, Decatur, GA 30030. A Google Reviewer says: “Nice park in a good neighborhood.” Another says it’s great “for kids and pets.”
Mason Mill Park
1340 McConnell Dr, Decatur, GA 30033. A Google Reviewer says: “Awesome park and playground for the North Decatur area. It’s got two distinct playgrounds, one for the older kids and one for the toddlers. They are attached, so you can keep an eye on both from the parent benches all around them. The building attached is a senior center but I believe the auditorium/event room can be rented for parties. They also have plenty of parking, a sport playing field, a couple of covered picnic table areas with BBQ grills, a nearby scenic paved walking/running trail, a gardening area and the Dekalb Tennis Center.”
Winnona Park
510 Poplar Cir, Decatur, GA 30030. A Google Reviewer says: “Lots of open field, well kept, good little children’s playground. Usually active.”
Dearborn Park
1310 Deerwood Dr, Decatur, GA 30030. A Google Reviewer says: “It’s small, but has good dog walking trails, a small playground for kids and basketball court. My daughter used to catch tadpoles in the creek, raise them and release them.”
Glenlake Park
1121 Church St, Decatur, GA 30030: A Google Reviewer says: “Nice community park with one medium sized soccer field, a basketball court, community pool, several tennis courts, a good-sized playground and a medium-sized dog park. Parking is limited and goes quickly on the weekends. Adjacent to a cemetery and good for short walks.”
Woodland Gardens
932 Scott Blvd, Decatur, GA 30030. A Google Reviewer says: “Pretty and quiet nature getaway convenient to our home. Pretty remarkable that it’s cooler and quieter in such proximity to a major intersection and apartment building. The trail it’s clear without being obtrusive. Parking isn’t ample, but then again there were no cars the Saturday afternoon we went. Bring bug spray!”
McKoy Skatepark
1000 Adams St, Decatur, GA 30030. A Google Reviewer says: “Public pool, softball leagues, walking paths, playground, and a skate park. Great mix of activities and local mingling.”
Brookside Park
The park used to be the site of some condemned apartments. Now it’s top-notch green space with an off-leash dog park. The dog parcel is three-quarters of an acre and features a water fountain, disposable bags and benches.
“This was a seven-acre worn-down dilapidated apartment complex, and at the time, we were able to draw down federal funds to acquire the site,” District 6 Commissioner Kathie Gannon said at the January ribbon-cutting for the dog park.

When it comes to restaurants, Atlanta is quickly gaining ground on some of the dining capitals around the United States.
The culinary excellence of Southern food is only part of the reason why Atlanta restaurants are having a moment. New entries into the restaurant entry, including steakhouses, seafood and fast-casual, represent a growing segment of the new Atlanta restaurants.
Hot chicken is the rage in Atlanta’s dining scene right now. But so are chicken and waffles.
Fast-casual is also the dining trend du jour around metro Atlanta restaurants. The concept involves mixing the quick accessibility of fast food with the casual dining experience. Food in Atlanta is also adapting to the various tastes of the migrants that come here to live.

Patrons typically order off a menu board like they would at a burger joint, but the convenience of sitting down to leisurely enjoy their food has made the segment a popular one with the restaurant industry.
The craze hasn’t escaped metro Atlanta’s food and drink scene, which has seen a fast-caz explosion in recent years.
