Songtress Mary J. Blige recently sat down with Atlanta radio station V-103 ahead of the Strength of the Woman Festival and Summit, which will take place in the city during Mother’s Day weekend.
Blige caught up with Big Tigger of The Big Tigger Morning Show, where she shared new details about the festival, slated for May 11-14, and what she’s looking forward to.

“It’s Mother’s Day, what better way to celebrate the strength of a woman in every woman, every woman whose persevered through so much… this is our day to celebrate,” she said.
During the festival, Blige will be reunited with her Uptown Records label mates, Jodeci. “I’m a fan of Jodeci, and we realize how important we are to each other,” she said. The singer also used to be romantically involved with Jodeci singer K-Ci.
This year’s festival promises to make even more of a splash than last year’s, which featured Usher and Summer Walker. “Last year was big but this year is bigger,” she said.
Fans can also look forward to Blige performing a special, never before seen set, in celebration of #HipHop50 with guests Jadakiss, Busta Rhymes, Method Man, and more.

Reality TV and entrepreneurial couple Kandi and Todd Tucker are cooking up something good with their latest TV show, Kandi & the Gang.
The celebrity couple sat down with Atlanta radio station V-103 recently to dish on their new Bravo TV show, which looks to be an instant hit.
How Did Kandi & The Gang Come About?
“You just figure with Kandi’s crazy family and our crazy staff, they were born for TV, and mixed with food and fun, I was like, ‘Man, this is a great show’,” Todd told the TV station. “It took a little while for Bravo to know what to do with it, but now we’re here.”
Todd actually came up with the restaurant concept of Old Lady Gang, which is one of the top black-owned restaurants in Atlanta. He also shepherded the concept onto the TV screen.
“When you come up with an idea and to really see it transform and finally get on TV, I’m like, ‘Wow, did I come up with this? Not too bad,” he said. “But once you come up with one, you gotta come up with the next one.”” he said.

Kandi & the Gang comes on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo TV. The show is part of a 10-episode production deal struck between Bravo’s Andy Cohen imprint and Kandi.

Georgia’s largest city just can’t get enough of Atlanta food halls. They keep popping up! A new food hall is set to open in Buckhead’s Phipps Plaza, the posh mall at the intersection of Peachtree and Lenox roads. It’s called Citizens Market Atlanta.
The 25,000 square-foot food hall will be under the Citizens culinary markets brand as a result of a partnership between C3 (Creating Culinary Communities), a global food tech platform and Legends, a data-intelligence firm.

Buckhead’s food scene continues to change as the area continues to see a high build rate for apartments, shops and restaurants.
Aside from the Phipps Plaza location, C3 and Legends plan other Citizens culinary markets this year in Chicago and Miami. London’s is set to debut in 2024.

The Disney movie The Pocketwatch is hiring up extras in casting calls and filming in Atlanta, Georgia.
While not a lot of information has been revealed about The Pocketwatch, we’ve been able to pull together some key facts about the Atlanta-filmed project.
What we do know is that the film is a spin-off of The Descendants and revolves around the troublemaking offspring of Disney’s classic villains: Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, the Evil Queen and Jafar.

The Pocketwatch is an original musical movie being produced by Disney that will stream on Disney+. While Disney has been known to change titles on movies and TV series well into production, the film is being made under the working title of “The Pocketwatch.”
