The Disney movie The Pocketwatch is hiring up extras in casting calls and  filming in Atlanta, Georgia.

While not a lot of information has been revealed about The Pocketwatch, we’ve been able to pull together some key facts about the Atlanta-filmed project.

What we do know is that the film is a spin-off of The Descendants and revolves around the troublemaking offspring of Disney’s classic villains: Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, the Evil Queen and Jafar.

The Pocketwatch: What You Need To Know

The Pocketwatch is an original musical movie being produced by Disney that will stream on Disney+. While Disney has been known to change titles on movies and TV series well into production, the film is being made under the working title of “The Pocketwatch.”

The film is being directed by Jennifer Phang (Half-Life, Foundation) based on a script from Dan Frey and Russell Sommer. Alexis Frank Koczara and Christine Smith Shevchenko have been tapped as casting directors for the movie.

What Is The Plot Of The Pocketwatch?

A summary of the project says: “The expansive new story finds polar opposites Red and Chloe crossing paths at a momentous celebration in Auradon when unexpected chaos breaks out.

“In order to prevent an impending coup, they must join forces to travel back in time, via a magical pocket watch created by the Mad Hatter’s son, to stop an event that would lead to grave consequences.”

Who’s Been Cast In The Pocketwatch?

We know that singer Rita Ora has been cast as the villainous Queen of Hearts who rules over the kingdom of Wonderful. Brandy is back as Cinderella in the film as well.

When Is The Pocketwatch Being Released For Streaming?

A streaming release date has yet to be determined for The Pocketwatch, which we know is scheduled to stream on Disney+.

Production for the project isn’t scheduled to end until March 2023, with post-production set to start then.

Where Is The Pocketwatch Being Filmed?

Production for the film has started in Atlanta and they are also holding open casting calls for those who want to work on the project.

“With a captivating script and Jennifer Phang’s directorial vision, we’re setting a new high bar of creativity and imagination, with a movie that ups the ante on story, song and dance to entertain young viewers, their families, and the global fan base that grew up with the aspirational story of ‘Descendants,” Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, said in a statement.
