• Lil Baby Set To Drop Fresh Prince of Atlanta

    4 Min Read

“Out of all the Atlanta rappers, I love Lil Baby the most,” says Shanda Wims of East Atlanta. “She’s a super fan who never misses a Lil Baby performance locally. She’s looking. Forward to some new music.

Lil Baby’s next album is being billed as Fresh Prince of Atlanta, with a November 6, 2026 release date circulating widely after a viral post from the fan account Lil Baby Snippets.

Lil Baby Drops Fresh Prince of Atlanta

On October 2, the account @lilbabythegreat—which states in its bio that it is not affiliated with the rapper or his team—posted a roughly 30-second video clip under the caption “NEW LIL BABY ALBUM / November 6th / FRESH PRINCE OF ATLANTA.”

The clip shows Dominique Armani Jones (Lil Baby) in heavy jewelry, white frames, and casual luxury fits, intercut with street and studio-style visuals. The post quickly drew thousands of likes, hundreds of reposts, and widespread quote-tweets as fans and aggregator accounts amplified the date and title.

Music sites picked up the chatter the same day. HotNewHipHop reported that Lil Baby had reportedly locked in a November 6 release for a new project—his first major solo statement since WHAM in January 2025—while noting that an official title and tracklist had not yet been confirmed through his channels. Genius later listed Fresh Prince of Atlanta as an upcoming album, attaching the July 2026 single “Dead Fresh” to it.

That Pharrell Williams-produced track, first previewed at Louis Vuitton’s Spring-Summer 2027 menswear show in Paris, debuted at No. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 3 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. Its lyrics lean into the same “dead fresh” luxury imagery (Bottega, Chanel, Maybachs) that the album title now echoes.

The rollout sits against a busy but uneven stretch for the Atlanta rapper. WHAM opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 140,000 equivalent units and featured Young Thug, Future, 21 Savage, Travis Scott, and others.

A planned companion project titled Dominique was later shelved; instead, The Leaks arrived in December 2025. Through 2026 he has stayed visible via features—including “Ball My Love” on Quavo’s QRÖMELIFE and earlier cuts with DJ Khaled, Future, and Hotboii—while “Dead Fresh” marked his highest-profile solo single of the year.

Fan reaction to the November 6 date has split along familiar lines. Some longtime listeners treat the title and Pharrell link as a reset after WHAM’s mixed reception. Others, in replies to the original post, argued the sound still feels continuous with recent work. No full tracklist or confirmed features have surfaced beyond the Genius placeholder that includes “Dead Fresh” and an unfinished “Extra*” entry listing Playboi Carti and Young Thug.

As of early October, the November 6 date and Fresh Prince of Atlanta title remain tied most directly to the snippets account and secondary reports rather than a formal label or artist statement. If the date holds, the project would land just over a month after the initial wave of posts, giving little time for a traditional single rollout beyond the already-released “Dead Fresh.”

    Georgia vs. Vanderbilt: A History

The first game was in Nashville in November 1893. Vanderbilt won 35–0 and controlled most of the early meetings. The Commodores’ biggest win in the series is a 47–0 shutout in 1901. Vanderbilt’s longest streak is four games, from 1901 to 1912.Meetings were irregular at first. After a 1932 game, the teams did not play again for about two decades, a gap shaped by the Depression and World War II.

The series became annual in 1968 and stayed that way through 2023, except for 2020, when the COVID-19 season disrupted the SEC schedule.

Georgia’s edge is decisive in the modern era. The Bulldogs’ longest winning streak in the series is 11 games (listed for both 1974–1984 and 1995–2005). Their largest margin is 62–0, in Nashville on September 25, 2021. At home, Georgia is 31–7 all time.Vanderbilt’s last win came on October 15, 2016, in Athens: 17–16. It was Kirby Smart’s first season and Georgia’s homecoming. Vanderbilt’s Khari Blasingame scored the go-ahead touchdown, and linebacker Zach Cunningham stopped a late Georgia drive short of a first down. That remains the last time Vanderbilt has spoiled a Georgia homecoming.

    Final Word

The Georgia Bulldogs, a powerhouse in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), tend to play a few games against smaller schools as part of their non-conference schedule. With the expansion of the conference, a tougher schedule means they can lose every week they play. But Kirby is ready.

  • Netflix Renews A Different World for 2nd Season

    3 Min Read

Netflix has renewed A Different World for a second season, sending the sequel series back to Hillman College less than two weeks after its debut.

The streamer announced the pickup on October 2, 2026.

”This is my favorite show,” Spelman College freshman Kim Jones says, who we interviewed near the campus. “You can feel the Span vibes in the series: which I love.”

Season 1 of the sequel series launched on September 24 and quickly reached Netflix’s English-language TV Top 10 worldwide, a result the producers credited to fans who watched, rewatched, posted, and hosted viewing events.

Netflix Renews A Different World for Season 2

The series is a sequel, not a straight reboot, of the NBC sitcom that ran from 1987 to 1993. It follows a new class of students at the fictional HBCU Hillman College, centered on Deborah Wayne (Maleah Joi Moon), the youngest child of original characters Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert. Kadeem Hardison and Jasmine Guy return as Dwayne and Whitley, with Debbie Allen back as an executive producer and director after producing and directing large stretches of the original run. Felicia Pride created the sequel and serves as showrunner and executive producer.

The core student cast also includes Alijah Kai as Rashida Duvall, Cornell Young IV as Shaquille Johnson, Jordan Aaron Hall as Amir Rodale, Kennedi Reece as Hazel Henry, and Chibuikem Uche as Kojo Achebe. Returning original-series faces have included Darryl M. Bell, Cree Summer, Ajai Sanders, and Jada Pinkett Smith.

Netflix’s official Season 2 logline sets the action after summer break: “After transformative summers, Deborah and her Hillman classmates return to campus for sophomore year with a ‘New Year, New Me’ attitude, only to find themselves faced with past decisions, uncertain futures, new loves and friendships, and deeper questions of purpose… all while, of course, getting themselves into a whole lot of new mess.”

Pride told Netflix’s Tudum that the writers will have to address Season 1’s cliffhangers, and she promised “more Hillman, more college life, more friendship, more romance, more Black joy, and more HBCU greatness.” In a statement reported by Variety, she said, “It’s so validating to be bolstered by our amazing audience. We are beyond excited to return to Hillman and continue to tell meaningful and heartfelt stories that resonate across generations.”

Allen’s reaction was characteristically direct: “YAY! HALLELUJAH! The people and Netflix have spoken. ‘A Different World’ brought something everybody needed: joy, romance, relevance, authenticity and HEART! Thank you for getting us into the Top 10 worldwide! And now, gear up! We’re coming back at you with Season 2!!”

Tracey Pakosta, Netflix’s vice president of comedy series, said the company believed in the team “from day one” and looked forward to “what unfolds next year at Hillman College,” according to TVLine. No release date has been set.

The original A Different World became one of the defining campus comedies of its era, often credited with raising the profile of historically Black colleges. The Netflix sequel has tried to keep that setting and the original’s mix of romance, friendship, and topical campus life while shifting the focus onto a younger generation whose parents include those earlier Hillman alumni. Variety’s review of Season 1 called the series “timely and fresh,” noting that it distinguished itself from the original while still paying homage to what made the earlier show iconic.

For now, sophomore year is ordered. Classes have not yet been scheduled.

Viral Video: Passenger On Flight To Atlanta Confronts Woman Over Racist Texts

    3 Min Read

A viral video making the rounds this week shows a Black woman confronting a seatmate mid-flight after she says she read racist text messages on his phone.

The clip, originally posted to TikTok in May 2023 by travel creator Taila Rouse, has circulated again years later.

Viral Video: Woman on Flight From Atlanta Confronts Passenger Over Racist Texts

Rouse was on a roughly four-hour flight from San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Atlanta. In the video, overlaid text reads “POV: You decided to confront the racist sitting next to you on your flight.” Speaking toward the man beside her, she says she was not going to say anything but decided she wanted him to feel as uncomfortable as she did. She tells him she saw his text messages and thinks he is disgusting.

When he asks which messages, she replies that he knows exactly what she is talking about and that she will not repeat the contents aloud so others do not have to hear them. She adds that she saw him and finds him disgusting. Later in the exchange he says he is sorry; she responds that she wants him to feel the discomfort she feels sitting next to him.

In accompanying posts at the time, Rouse said she glanced over and saw the words “big black woman” (other reports of the same clips quote a message reading “huge black woman”). She said she continued reading and saw an exchange with family members about the “woes” of sitting next to Black and gay people, plus a comment hoping airlines would keep raising prices to “weed out these people.”

One reported message referred to someone named Ryan sitting next to a “huge black woman.” Rouse wrote that if the passenger was bold enough to text those remarks in the middle seat, she would be bold enough to address him. She also shared a short clip or image of the messages. Contemporary coverage in outlets including Newsweek, the Miami Herald, and AeroTime described the TikTok as receiving millions of views within days.

The man is not identified in the video or the original posts, and the airline was not named by Rouse in the widely circulated clips (some secondary reports described it as a Delta flight). No public response from the passenger or the airline appears in the contemporaneous accounts. Replies to the recent X post largely praise the confrontation and describe the messages as evidence of open racism; a smaller number question the decision to film and confront a seatmate over private texts.

The episode is one of several mid-flight confrontations over phone screens that spread on social media in 2023. It rests on Rouse’s account of what she read and her decision to record the exchange rather than involve crew.

  • Braves beat Phillies

Braves Beat Phillies, Advance in MLB Playoffs

    3 Min Read

The Atlanta Braves ended the Philadelphia Phillies’ season Thursday night at Truist Park, winning the decisive Game 3 of the National League Wild Card Series 6-2 behind three home runs and a patchwork pitching staff that held a late rally in check.

Michael Harris II supplied the decisive blow in the first inning. After Aaron Nola walked Ronald Acuña Jr. and Matt Olson with one out, Harris lined a 2-0 sinker to right-center for a three-run homer—roughly 387 feet—that put Atlanta ahead 3-0.

We interviewed fans at a local sports bar, STATS downtown, who said the Braves are the team to beat. “The MLB better be ready,” said Brad Conley. “The Braves are bringing the pennant home.”

Braves Beat Phillies in Game 3 Wild Card, Advance in MLB Playoffs

The swing was immediate redemption: Harris had grounded into two double plays in Wednesday’s 4-3, 10-inning loss that forced the winner-take-all game.

Ozzie Albies added a two-run shot in the fourth, a 419-foot drive to right-center off Zack Wheeler after Austin Riley walked, stretching the lead to 5-0. Olson finished the power display with a solo home run in the seventh, measured at 416 feet to center off Jonathan Bowlan. Every Atlanta run came on a home run.

The Braves’ pitching plan was improvised and effective. Left-hander Ray Kerr, making his postseason debut and only his fourth career start, opened and threw 3⅓ scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk. Grant Holmes followed with two innings and one run to earn the win.

Robert Suarez, Didier Fuentes and Dylan Dodd bridged to Chris Sale, who entered on one day of rest after throwing 6⅓ innings and striking out nine in Tuesday’s Game 1 victory. Sale retired the final four batters, striking out Bryce Harper to end the eighth and closing the ninth.

Philadelphia managed only six hits. Nola was pulled after 1⅔ innings and three runs. Wheeler, who had clinched the wild-card berth with a win over Tampa Bay on Sunday, worked four innings in relief and allowed two runs.

The Phillies scored once in the sixth on an Alec Bohm groundout that plated Kyle Schwarber, and once in the eighth when Derek Hill tripled and scored on a Trea Turner sacrifice fly. The final was 6-2 before a sellout crowd of 41,731.

The series victory is Atlanta’s first postseason series win since the 2021 World Series and the club’s first playoff series win against Philadelphia, which had eliminated the Braves in the 1993 NLCS and the 2022 and 2023 NLDS.

It also ended a six-game losing streak in elimination games that dated to the 2018 NLDS against the Dodgers, and marked the Braves’ first winner-take-all postseason win since Game 7 of the 1996 NLCS. Atlanta (94-68) advances to a best-of-five Division Series against the two-time defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers, beginning Saturday. Philadelphia (88-74) is finished for 2026.

  • Tyler Perry Back With ‘Doing Life’ On Netflix: Now Streaming

    4 Min Read

Tyler Perry’s Doing Life arrives on Netflix, October 2, 2026, as another entry in the writer-director’s long run of urban dramas about people trying to climb out of circumstances that were never built for second chances.

The film pairs a single mother with a reformed ex-convict whose paths first crossed inside a prison. Anika, played by Naomi Baker (All American: Homecoming), once worked at Holloway Correctional.

Tyler Perry’s Doing Life’ Streaming On Netflix

While she was pregnant, a riot nearly cost her and her unborn child their lives; an inmate stepped in and saved them.

Years later that man, Carousel (Jay Reeves), is out. He was convicted of attempted murder after joining a gang at 14, and the film treats his release as the start of a harder sentence: proving he has changed. Netflix’s official framing puts the connection in letters as well as face-to-face encounters—“a single mother and an incarcerated man forge an unlikely bond through heartfelt letters, unlocking a door to redemption, hope and love against all odds.”

The title is a double meaning Perry leans on in the trailer. Carousel is the man who has done, or nearly done, life inside. Anika says she is “doing life as a single mother.”

Family members are not convinced the two stories can share a future. Jasmine Sargent plays Lisa, Anika’s protective older sister; the supporting cast also includes Tamberla Perry as Cathy, Karen Obilom as Trina, Danielle Moné Truitt as Denise, Lucky Johnson as Quinn, and Cornell Young IV as Donovan.

Perry wrote, directed, and produced the film, with Angi Bones and Tony L. Strickland as fellow producers, under the Tyler Perry Studios banner for Netflix. Cinematography is by Justyn Moro, editing by Nick Coker, and the score by Meshell Ndegeocello.

Tems’s “Hold On” is among the featured tracks. The reported runtime is 1 hour 48 minutes, and Netflix lists it as TV-MA. According to a local profile of Sargent, principal photography was completed in four days, mostly on Perry’s Atlanta studio compound—the kind of compressed schedule that has become a signature of his production model.

Reeves is returning to Perry’s orbit after The Six Triple Eight. Baker, best known for television, gets the lead. The surrounding ensemble draws from network and streaming series—Brilliant Minds, They Cloned Tyrone, Law & Order: Organized Crime, Dynasty, Doom Patrol—rather than from Perry’s usual stage-to-screen stock company.

Doing Life sits inside a busy stretch of the Perry–Netflix partnership. That slate already includes A Fall from Grace, A Jazzman’s Blues, Mea Culpa, The Six Triple Eight, Straw, Madea’s Destination Wedding, and Ruth & Boaz, with Why Did I Get Married Again? having landed on the service in September.

The new film is smaller in historical scope than The Six Triple Eight and closer to the contemporary relationship dramas that built Perry’s audience: suspicion from relatives, a man with a record, a woman carrying a household alone, and a question of whether love can outrun both of their pasts.

Because the movie is only just streaming, broad critical consensus is not yet in. Early promotion has sold it as gritty rather than comic, with the trailer emphasizing the prison riot, the letters, and the family’s distrust (“This man is playing you”).

For viewers who follow Perry’s Netflix run, the bet is familiar: an intimate story about ordinary people, told quickly and aimed squarely at an audience that already knows his voice.

With more than 900 movie and TV projects just in the last few years, the film industry has generated more than $9 billion for the state of Georgia.

Tyler Perry Lists Beverly Hills Estate Ahead of Puerto Rico Move

    4 Min Read

Tyler Perry has listed his Beverly Hills estate for $57 million as he prepares to relocate to Puerto Rico and scale back his work schedule.

The filmmaker and studio owner, 57, put the property at 10 Beverly Ridge Terrace on the market around September 29, 2026, according to reports first citing the Wall Street Journal.

Tyler Perry Lists Beverly Hills Mansion Ahead of Puerto Rico Move

The listing, held by Santiago Arana of The Agency, describes the home as an “extraordinary expression of privacy, security, and exclusivity.” It sits inside the gated Beverly Ridge Estates community behind 24-hour guard-gated security, on roughly 22.5 acres above the city.

Perry bought the land in 2004 for $4.3 million and completed the main residence in 2012. Listing records put the Mediterranean-style house at 24,592 square feet, with nine bedrooms and 15 bathrooms. Formal spaces include a living room, dining room, private study, chef’s kitchen with butler’s pantry, family room, and outdoor terraces. The primary suite has a fireplace, secluded deck, dual spa-style baths, separate walk-in closets, a sitting room, and dedicated massage and salon rooms.

Elsewhere the house includes a gym with a steam shower, a music hall, wine storage, a 24-seat home theater, bar, entertainment lounge, and game room, plus guest suites with private balconies. A one-bedroom guesthouse and staff quarters sit on the grounds, which also include a pool.

The estate has a well-documented guest list. Perry has reportedly hosted Oprah Winfrey and former President Barack Obama there. In 2020, after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from royal duties and moved to the United States, Perry offered them the house.

Markle later told Oprah that the couple “needed a house and he offered security as well.” The Sussexes later settled in Montecito before eventually returning to the U.K.

The Beverly Hills listing is part of a broader real-estate shift. Perry also has a Jackson Hole, Wyoming, retreat on the market, listed around $39.5 million to $40 million, bringing the combined asking prices to roughly $96.5 million. He still owns substantial holdings in Atlanta, including a large compound and the studio complex that anchors his production business.

The sales track a personal pivot he announced on September 14, 2026, on NBC’s “Today with Jenna & Sheinelle.” “Yep, moving to Puerto Rico at the top of the year, and I’m pulling back a whole lot,” Perry said.

He linked the decision to turning 57 the day before and to spending more time with his 11-year-old son, Aman, whom he shares with ex-girlfriend Gelila Bekele. “It’s time to slow down a little bit, enjoy more time with my son, and just take it all in,” he told the program. His agent has said Perry has been spending less and less time in California.

For a figure who built an entertainment empire largely outside the traditional studio system—most famously through the Madea franchise and Tyler Perry Studios—the move marks a deliberate change of pace. Whether the Beverly Hills compound sells near its $57 million ask will test demand for ultra-private estates in a market that has cooled at the very top end, but the timing makes the intent clear: Perry is clearing California real estate ahead of a 2027 start in Puerto Rico.

Angel Reese Named 2026 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year

    4 Min Read

Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese was named the 2026 Kia WNBA Defensive Player of the Year on Thursday, becoming the first player in franchise history to win the league’s top individual defensive award.

Reese took 46 of 74 votes from a national panel of sportswriters and broadcasters. Golden State Valkyries forward Gabby Williams finished second with 20 votes.

Angel Reese named 2026 Kia WNBA Defensive Player of the Year

Three-time winner A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces placed third with four, followed by Washington’s Shakira Austin (two) and one vote each for Golden State’s Veronica Burton and Dream teammate Rhyne Howard.

The honor arrived in her first season in Atlanta and her third in the league, one day after the Dream completed a first-round sweep of the Washington Mystics—their first playoff series win in eight years. Atlanta finished 30-14, tied the franchise record for wins, claimed the best record in the Eastern Conference, and earned the No. 4 seed. The Dream host the New York Liberty in the semifinals on Sunday.

Reese had telegraphed the award months earlier. “I told my coaches earlier in the season I am going to be the Defensive Player of the Year,” she told ESPN. “I don’t know if it’s going to be this year, I don’t know if it’s going to be next year, but I’m challenging myself, and I want you guys to challenge me every day to be that. And here it is.” In the team’s announcement she shared the credit: “I have the trophy, but I definitely want Jordin and Rhyne to sign it because I think they deserve it just as much as I do. I’m grateful for Atlanta, I’m grateful for my teammates and my coaches and all the supporting staff that supports us. This is just the beginning.”

The numbers backed the claim. Reese led the WNBA in defensive win shares (3.39) and ranked fourth in defensive rating (100.0). Atlanta allowed 7.9 fewer points per 100 possessions with her on the floor than off it, the largest defensive on/off differential among Dream rotation players. The Dream ranked third in the league in defensive rating (103.5) and held opponents to a league-low 9.5 second-chance points per game.

She ranked third in steals per game (1.8) and total steals (77), both career highs, trailing only teammates Rhyne Howard (2.3) and Jordin Canada (1.9). She also finished third in defensive rebounds (315) and fourth in defensive rebounds per game (7.3). Dream coach Karl Smesko said Reese “can guard any position” and “relishes these opportunities.”

The defensive case was inseparable from a historic rebounding year. Reese became the first player in WNBA history to reach 500 rebounds in a season, finishing with single-season records of 521 total rebounds and 206 offensive rebounds. She also set the single-game record with 26 rebounds in a road win over the Los Angeles Sparks on August 24 and the single-season double-double record with 32. She led the league at 12.1 rebounds per game, averaged a career-high 16.4 points, and was one of only two players to average a double-double. She earned Peak Performer honors as the league’s leading rebounder, made her third consecutive All-Star team, and closed the regular season with three straight Eastern Conference Player of the Week awards—the first Dream player to do so.

It is also the first Defensive Player of the Year award for an Eastern Conference player since Sylvia Fowles with Chicago in 2013. Reese, 24, had never previously been named to an All-Defensive team or received a DPOY vote. The award carries a $30,000 prize and a commemorative trophy.

For Atlanta, the selection closes a first year that already rewrote franchise and league records. For Reese, it is the defensive recognition that her rebounding dominance had not yet produced—and, in her words, only the beginning.

Rick Ross Arrested on Domestic Violence; Strangulation, Splitting Woman’s Lip

    3 Min Read

Rapper Rick Ross was arrested in Miami Beach on Thursday and charged with felony battery by strangulation and misdemeanor domestic violence, according to police and court records.

Ross, 50, whose legal name is William Leonard Roberts, was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in west Miami-Dade on Thursday morning. Jail records cited by local outlets put the booking at about 6:10 a.m.

Rick Ross Arrested on Domestic Violence

He appeared in Miami-Dade court later that morning with his attorney, who entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf. Bond was set at $6,000 total — $5,000 on the strangulation charge and $1,000 on the domestic-violence charge. An arraignment has been reported for Oct. 22.

Police said the alleged incident occurred on Aug. 28 at a home on Star Island, an exclusive Miami Beach neighborhood, and was reported to authorities days later. Ross turned himself in to Miami Beach police, according to multiple reports.

According to the arrest report as described by local media, the complainant told officers that Ross became enraged over an Instagram photo in which she was tagged. She said he slapped her in the face each time she denied wrongdoing, hit her, and struck her in the chest several times until she could not breathe. She also told police he grabbed her ponytail and slammed her head into the ground.

Other local reporting added further allegations from the police account: that Ross twisted the collar of her hoodie and restricted her breathing, slammed her against a wall, and left her with a busted lip. The Sun Sentinel reported that she was identified to police as his live-in girlfriend of more than a year, that she gave a sworn statement and showed photos of injuries, and that investigators reviewed surveillance footage from the residence. Authorities have not publicly released the complainant’s name in the primary arrest accounts.

In court, Ross’s attorney asked that his release be expedited, noting that he is a celebrity and was being held in a red jumpsuit for his safety. Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Mindy S. Glazer replied that she did not know who he was beyond the case before her and that he would be treated fairly, like everyone else.

The arrest came days after model and influencer Jazzma Kendrick, described in entertainment coverage as Ross’s former girlfriend, posted on Instagram that he had hit her and “busted” her lip, and that she had left him. Some outlets have noted the timing; police reports summarized so far do not publicly confirm that she is the complainant in the criminal case.

Ross rose to national prominence in 2006 with Port of Miami and the single “Hustlin’,” and is widely credited with helping put Miami back at the center of mainstream rap. Through his Maybach Music Group label he helped launch the careers of Meek Mill and Wale. He is a multiple Grammy nominee. His representatives had not issued a detailed public response in the earliest reports on the arrest.

The charges are allegations. Ross has pleaded not guilty and is presumed innocent unless proven otherwise.
