Rick Ross’ Wingstop Franchises In Atlanta Will Sell Wing Thighs

    3 Min Read

Rick Ross, who owns several Wingstop franchises in metro Atlanta, recently filmed a promo outside his mansion. Ross the Boss says due to a shortage in chicken wings, his businesses have pivoted to selling chicken thighs.

Wingstop Launches Thighstop Amid Wing Shortage

The Texas-based company launched “Thighstop,” a virtual restaurant that will serve up crispy chicken thighs, on Monday, June 21, 2021.

You can now order chicken thighs via Door Dash or Thighstop.com

Wingstop CEO Charlie Morrison addressed a growing chicken shortage earlier this year, telling shareholders they can expect more tightening of the market in the months to come.

“The pandemic has caused challenges to be able to staff plants to be able to slaughter enough chickens to be able to meet the demands of the marketplace. And I think that’s seen everywhere. I mean, the price of chicken across the board is high, especially high for wings,” Morrison said on an earnings call.

Now the company is going all-in on Thighstop, with Ross leading the way.

“We’re excited to bring Thighstop to the masses in a way that’s familiar and convenient to consumers by providing the option of delivery or carryout through our delivery partner DoorDash,” Morrison says in a news release.

Truth be told, many customers may prefer thighs to wings because they give you more meat and are just as easy to handle.

6 Expenses That Didn’t Exist 20 Years Ago

    4 Min Read

Do you ever wonder where your money is going? It seems like every month, expenses eat away at our budget. But the truth is that Americans today are paying for things that simply didn’t exist a short time ago.

Of course, we need the lights on and utilities to work, and even the car note. But it’s those “other” bills that seem to be sapping our paychecks. Where did they come from?

These Expenses Didn’t Exist 20 Years Ago

Let’s look at some of the bills that have popped up out of thin air in the last 20 years.

    1. Baggage Fees

In 2008, American Airlines introduced a $30 fee for your first checked bag. That set off a chain reaction among the airline industry and baggage fees that has been with us ever since. Not only that, but snacks, pillows and the like were free years ago — but not anymore.

    2. Your Streaming Bill

Related to your data plan is your streaming bill. Back in the day, Netflix used to mail you DVDs. Now, the streaming service — and a host of others — are selling subscriptions for anywhere from $5.99 to $50 a month.

For context, you may be trading your cable or satellite bill for two or three streaming services, but as we’re about to see, those subscriptions extend far beyond TV…

    3. Music Subscriptions

Sad to say, it costs money to listen to good music now. Of course, you could tune in to the radio all day, but to get the highly curated audio experience we’ve all come to know and love comes with a price tag. Your monthly Spotify or Apple Music account costs you anywhere from $4.99 to $9.99.

    4. Coffee

Yes, having a morning coffee has been a ritual for years and years, but with the rise of Starbucks and other artisan coffee establishments, a freshly brewed cup has become a recurring bill for many of us.

According to an Acorn Money Matters report, the average American spends approximately $1,100 annually ($3 each day) on coffee. No wonder Starbucks is reported to make $61 million a day.

    5. Ridesharing

Ridesharing has become a common expense for people in big cities, especially millennials who want to bar hop or avoid parking fees downtown. But Americans who use Uber and Lyft spend $22 on an average trip, according to one report. If you rideshare twice times a week, we’re talking more than $240 a month.

of course, that money could be offset by the amount you save on a new car note or taxicab, but the fact remains, ridesharing is an expense we didn’t have years ago.

    6. Bottled Water

It’s true people have been drinking bottled water for a long time, but its status at the top of the food chain has only taken hold in recent years.

In 2017, the Beverage Marketing Corp., an industry consulting firm, announced that bottled water had overtaken milk and beer to become America’s favorite beverage. And as more people swear off tap water, many opt to exclusively drink bottled water.

That means that each year, U.S. consumers spend an average of $100 per person on bottled water. Add other members of the household and this figure goes way up.

    Takeaway

So what’s the point in listing these recurring expenses? It’s so you can see that you may be able to save some of your hard-earned money if you took steps now to invest what you spend on some of these items. Need help? The first thing you need to do is create a budget.

The First Lady Series: Here’s What We Know

The First Lady TV series on Showtime will display the first ladies of the White House in some of America’s most tumultuous tomes of modern history.
Other stars that have been cast in The First Lady are Rhys Wakefield, Judy Greer, Jayme Lawson and Kristine Froseth.
The series, created by Andy Cooley, will be broken down into three seasons.
    • Season 1 focuses on Eleanor Roosevelt (Anderson)
    • Season 2 will be about Betty Ford (Pfeiffer)
    • Season 3 will center on Michelle Obama (Davis)
Let’s look at each of the main characters and their legacies.

    Michelle PFeiffer As Betty Ford

First Lady Betty Ford was known as one of the most outspoken first ladies that have ever been in the White House. Her liberal stances on many social issues caused some stinging rebukes from Republicans despite her husband’s attempts to appear as a moderate.
Mrs. Ford also helped raise awareness for women’s issues like breast cancer after she underwent a mastectomy in 1974. She also did a lot to make treatment for drug abuse more acceptable among the public, rather than a strictly criminal issue.

    Gillian Anderson As Eleanor Roosevelt

For much of her time in the White House, Eleanor Roosevelt was seen as a controversial figure, mainly for her unwavering support of civil rights for black Americans.
She also knew how to charm the media outlets in the day. She was adept at giving regular news conferences, she wrote a magazine column and even hosted a radio show.

    Viola Davis As Michelle Obama

As the only two women who are contemporaries, Davis and Obama have a lot in common.
Obama, the wife of the nation’s 44th president, Barack Obama, is the only first lady that is a lawyer. Despite enduring racial attacks from her own constituents, Mrs. Obama adopted a “when they go low, we go high” mantra. She took on obesity among the youth and became a staunch advocate for clean eating and exercise.

When Will The First Lady Come On?

While the show has began pre-production and filming on location in metro Atlanta, there is no official word yet on when The First Lady will air on Showtime.
With such a stellar cast, you may be wondering how the show will turn out. Us too! Basically, we can’t wait to see The First Lady on Showtime!
With more than 900 movie and TV projects just in the last few years, the film industry has generated more than $9 billion for the state of Georgia.

Marvel’s Phase 4 Production Schedule: What You Need To Know

    6 Min Read

Are you ready for Black Panther 2 and the other superhero movies coming soon? Marvel Studios has previewed its production schedule through the next couple years, with many of the big-name projects expected to be filmed in Atlanta.

Disney and its streaming service Disney+ figures to play a key role in many of the productions, which have already been spotted filming around Atlanta.

Disney’s plans also involve Fox and Pixar, but a whole lot of Marvel. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic happened, pushing back mostly everything.

To understand how production schedules coincide with Atlanta, we first have to gather a keen knowledge of Marvel’s “Phase 4.”

    What Is Marvel’s Phase 4?

Marvel’s Phase 4 refers to all of the Marvel Studios productions that will be released in the three-year period beginning with 2021 and ending in 2023.

Here’s a video Marvel Studios released on May 3 that previews what’s coming down the pike over the next couple years.

Phase 4 began on the small screen with the release of WandaVision and will start on the big screen with Black Widow in summer 2021.

Marvel Studios’ Phase 4 comes on the heels of the most successful run in the company’s history: Phase 3. That phase saw such tentpole titles of Endgame, Thor: Ragnorok, Captain American: Civil War and Black Panther.

Here’s What To Know About Marvel Production Dates In Atlanta

The success of WandaVision has shown Disney that it can score with a tentpole title in the streaming space, but the cinematic experience continues to be the ideal way to show a movie.

The beloved Marvel franchise was perhaps hardest hit because many of the movies are dependent on others. We’ll have to see how it pans out.

    Marvel Releases 4-Year Production Schedule

Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight and She-Hulk all have been mentioned as future Marvel projects, but nothing has been confirmed.

    Navigation: Marvel Movie Productions

Disney as well as Marvel is making a concerted effort to include more representations of people of color. And it will only get better through the years.

Right on the heels of WandaVision, the MCU jumps right back into the action with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which follows the events in Endgame.

The majority of the scenes from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier were filmed in metro Atlanta, specifically at Trilith Studios in Fayetteville just outside Georgia’s largest city.

If you remember, 2020 was supposed to kick off with “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.” But it, like most titles, was delayed. when it does debut, it will be Marvel’s first Asian-American led superhero film.

With more than 700 movie and TV projects just in the last few years, the film industry has generated more than $9 billion for the state of Georgia.
