There are plenty of interstates that you should show due caution pn when traveling, but Interstate 285, better known as I-285, or better yet, 285, is another animal.

That’s just one of several Atlanta interstates that you may be have to drive on when traveling in and through metro Atlanta.

The traffic perennially ranks as one of the worst in the nation and there are a few reasons for that:

How To Drive On 285 (Safely) In Atlanta

285 is a loop that encircles Atlanta. It is approximately 63.98 miles.

If you’re trying to really make up some time to get to where you’re going around Atlanta, you’ll encounter 285 — but you don’t have to be afraid.

When driving on 285, don’t be on a hurry. I know it’s like a race track.

It’s best to travel in the middle lanes of 285, that way you won’t be accidentally take an exit or be in the fast lane.

Atlanta Express Lanes: What You Need To Know

G-DOT introduced the I-85 express lanes (Hot lanes) on the northside a few years ago around metro Atlanta. HOT stands for High Occupancy Toll because it costs money.

The lanes stretch from Chamblee Tucker Road, just south of I-285, to Old Peachtree Road in Gwinnett County.

Who can use Hot lanes in Atlanta toll-free?

The HOT lanes are for those who register, including three or more person carpools, motorcycles, emergency vehicles, and Alternative Fuel Vehicles (AFV) with the proper AFV license plate (does not include hybrid vehicles).

If you have three or fewer occupants, including solo drivers, you can pay to use the Express Lanes.

Here are the registered vehicles that are exempt from Express lane tolls:

• Transit vehicles
• Carpools with three or more occupants
• Motorcycles
• Emergency vehicles

How to get a Peach Pass in Atlanta

All vehicles, including those designated as “toll-exempt,” must be registered on an active Peach Pass account and have a Peach Pass transponder mounted inside or on the vehicle to use the Georgia Express Lanes.

The Georgia Attorney General is asking the state’s highest court not to take up an appeal filed by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to overturn her disqualification from the Trump election interference case.

Chris Carr, a Republican, is doing what he can to stop the prosecution of President-elect Donald Trump in Georgia less than one month before he takes office. Willis filed the case in 2023.

Carr, who says he intends to run for governor in Georgia next November, posted the statement to his X account: 

“The Georgia Court of Appeals has ruled that the Fulton County DA created her own conflict and rightfully removed her from the case against President-elect Trump. 

“‘Lawfare’ has become far too common in American politics, and it must end.

“As such, I would encourage the Georgia Supreme Court to not take her appeal. 

“It’s our hope that the DA will now focus taxpayer resources on the successful prosecution of violent criminals in Fulton County.”

Willis filed an appeal regarding her disqualification from prosecuting the election interference case against Donald Trump. After a Georgia appeals court ruled that she and her office should be removed from the case, Willis has sought to challenge this decision. 

Trump Election Interference Case: An Explainer

The Trump interference case in Georgia centers on allegations that Trump and his associates attempted to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia. Here’s a breakdown of the case:

Background

• In the 2020 election, Joe Biden won Georgia by a narrow margin of approximately 12,000 votes, marking the first time since 1992 that the state voted for a Democrat in a presidential election.
• Trump’s campaign and allies repeatedly challenged the results through lawsuits and public statements, alleging widespread voter fraud, though no substantial evidence was found.

Key Incident: The Phone Call

• On January 2, 2021, Trump made a now-famous phone call to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.
• In the call, Trump urged Raffensperger to “find 11,780 votes” — the exact number needed to overturn Biden’s victory in the state.
• The call was recorded and widely circulated, becoming a focal point of the investigation.

• Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis launched a criminal investigation in early 2021.

2. Solicitation of Election Fraud: Including Trump’s call to Raffensperger.
3. False Statements and Documents: Efforts to present false electors and baseless fraud claims.
4. Harassment of Election Officials: Pressure on local officials, including Raffensperger.

The Georgia RICO Act

Georgia’s RICO statute is broader than its federal counterpart, allowing prosecutors to charge multiple individuals involved in a pattern of illegal activity. In this case, prosecutors allege a conspiracy to overturn the election results.

The tour will bring the show’s signature high-energy, improvisational comedy to cities across the country, marking a significant milestone in comedy and television history.

In its 20-year run, Wild ‘N Out has launchpad for some of today’s biggest stars, including Kevin Hart, Pete Davidson, and Katt Williams. The show has also been a platform for up-and-coming comedians and musicians, providing a unique opportunity to showcase their talents to a national audience. 

Wild ‘N Out has been recognized for its cultural impact, receiving an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Variety Show (Series or Special). Its influence extends beyond television, shaping comedy trends and fostering a generation of performers who blend humor with social commentary.

Furthermore, the tour will host musical performances by some of today’s hottest artists, alongside interactive audience games, allowing fans to participate in the show’s iconic challenges.
