Since then, the establishment has become synonymous with high quality, organic, and fair trade tea.

Brooklyn Tea founders Alfonso (Ali) Wright and Jamila McGill pride themselves on providing free-expert level tea education to customers, including promoting the holistic benefits of drinking tea.

The business found a second home in Atlanta due to McGill’s roots at Spelman College, which she attended alongside fellow alumna and longtime entrepreneur, Kerri-Ann T. Thomas.

When Thomas reached out to McGill about bringing Brooklyn Tea to Atlanta, it was just like old times. Located just minutes from Spelman and the AU Center, Brooklyn Tea will focus on serving the community and partnering with local organizations.

Are you a fan of South Carolina-style barbecue? We’re talking whole hog. Rodney Scott’s Whole Hog BBQ opened his barbecue restaurant in southwest Atlanta on July 27, 2021.

Scott, a James Beard Award-winning chef, launch his first BBQ restaurant in Charleston, South Carolina, three years ago.

For his entry to Georgia, Scott has teamed with The Pihakis Restaurant Group to bring smoky and flavorful barbecue to Atlanta.

Rodney Scott’s Whole Hog BBQ also has locations in Birmingham, Alabama. The eatery was supposed to open in Atlanta by the end of 2020, but was delayed.

It was also going to open in Atlanta’s West End, but has chosen the popular Adair Park neighborhood.

How does Scott make his barbecue? The restaurant’s website describes it like this:

Hardwood is burned down to glowing embers at the side of the bbq pits. Those embers are shoveled carefully under the meat and tended—paying special attention to temperature and heat placement—using those coals to regulate cooking through the entire process.

    Sounds absolutely delicious…

What’s On The Menu At Rodney Scott’s BBQ?

Rodney Scott’s BBQ menu includes brisket, a BBQ sandwich, as well as half-and full-slabs with sides like macaroni, greens and more. Check out one of the menus below:

  • How to be safe at the gym amid coronavirus

5 Ways To Stay Safe At The Gym During The Pandemic

    4 Min Read

Things are almost back to normal, but not everything. That’s why you still need to stay safe, even when you’re working out. After all, not everyone has a home gym.

If you’ve started going back to the gym, you may still want to practice safety and hygiene protocols to guard against COVID-19. But how?

This article is going to lay out some easy steps you can follow to stay safe while you exercise at the gym.

How To Practice Social Distancing At The Gym

Here are some steps based on health guidelines you need if you want to stay safe in the gym amid the pandemic.

First of all, you may be subjected to new rules at many gyms. For instance, some may check your temperature to make sure it’s under 100.4, which is considered to be a fever.

Also, you may have that some group activities like basketball and spas, the swimming pool may be closed for now.

If you do decide to go to the gym here are some things to do:

    1. Go To The Gym During A Time That Is Less Busy

If you can, try to go to the gym during an off-peak period. This may be early in the morning or late in the evening.

In either case, you want to choose a time where the gym is not packed with people.

    2. Bring Your Own Towel And Disinfectant

If you frequent the gym before the COVID-19 pandemic, you knew that they may have already had a rigorous sanitation process. Well, now it’s been kicked up a bit.

But that’s no excuse not to take your health and hygiene in your own hands. Bring your own towel and disinfectant to the gym so you don’t have to rely on the facility’s products.

    3. Wear A Face Mask

Health officials continue to tell us to wear a mask or face covering when we’re out in public. Going to the gym is no different.

Choose a mask that you can breathe in even while exercising. This will allow you to catch your breath while staying protected from droplets in the air. Here’s how to make a mask or face covering.

    4. Keep Your Social Distance

Social distancing is something that will be easier if you go to the gym when not a lot of people are there, as was mentioned earlier.

If you can stay 6 feet away from the next person, you can enjoy your workout. Look for equipment and workout machines that are far away from other people relatively speaking. Here’s your social distancing guide.

    5. Wipe Down Your Equipment Before And After Use

Before you get on a machine, make sure you wipe it down with a soap and water solution. Once you finish with the equipment, wipe it down again.

This is extremely important in a gym, which may have surfaces that need cleaning every few minutes because of the sweaty clientele.

    Final Thought

Going to the gym doesn’t have to be a total departure from what you’re used to. But there are simply some other health measures you have to take.

Think about it: The reason why you’re going to the gym n the first place is because of your health, so it shouldn’t be a big deal.
