Months after filming wrapped in Atlanta, Marvel Studios gives us a peek of the highly anticipated movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The emotional footage shows the film’s lead characters in various states of chaos, but also melancholy.
The big reveal from Marvel Studios was part of the company’s phase 5 production preview at San Diego’s Comic-Con.
Emotional Trailer Shows Wakanda Post-T’Challa
One of the more stirring moments is a mural of King T’Challa, the late Chadwick Boseman, who succumbed to cancer in summer 2020. Since then, fans have wondered how the epic African superhero tale will go on.
As for how the plot was able to move around T’Challa, Marvel had to be very careful.
Speaking in 2021 at a fan event in Los Angeles, Marvel exec Kevin Feige said, “It’s clearly very emotional without Chad,” according to Variety. “But everyone is also very excited to bring the world of Wakanda back to the public and back to the fans. We’re going to do it in a way that would make Chad proud.”
Where Was Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Filmed?
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was filmed in various parts of the United States and Puerto Rico. Major production was done just outside Atlanta at Trilith Studios, as well as around Georgia, including in Brunswick at the Mary Ross Waterfront Park. Just like the first Black Panther film, Tyler Perry Studios was also used for some key scenes.
In addition to Atlanta and the Vulcan Materials quarry in Stockbridge, Georgia, some landscapes in Massachusetts also appeared in the film.
When Will Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Be Released?
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is scheduled to be released in the United States on November 11, 2022. Marvel has set a strict schedule for its Phase Five production slates and it is betting big that Black Panther 2 will win the Christmas movie season.
Let’s take a look at the first trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
When Did Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Film?
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever began auditions and casting calls in July 2021 and ran into the late-year holidays. Production stopped due to a COVID outbreak on the set as well as an injury to star Letitia Wright.
But in January 2022, production and filming was allowed to resume. In March, filming wrapped, although some post-production continued for a while.
Final Word
No matter what happens, we know that Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever will be an instant hit and bring even further spotlight to Atlanta as the new center of the moviemaking universe.
Because of the steady flow of movie and TV productions, Atlanta has been called the Hollywood of the South and it’s not just a label.. Porsha Williams, the Atlanta entrepreneur and mother, who came to fame on Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta, says she reached a breaking point not long ago that she’s just now able to talk about.
When she burst onto the reality TV scene in 2012, Williams said she didn’t know that with the spotlight came a lot of scrutiny and judgment. A high-profile divorce and many on-set fights put her in a light she sometimes didn’t want to be in. Then she suffered a miscarriage.
“With the platform of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, you really don’t understand the magnitude of what you’re a part of. Everything I say matters. There are a lot of people listening, a lot of young girls and a lot of women,” she was quoted as saying in Forbes. “And once the realization came to me about the power I had, I decided to start speaking about fibroids. And speaking about suffering with fibroids over the years, I couldn’t not talk about the miscarriage because the fibroids caused my miscarriage.”
Williams, whose grandfather is the late Hosea Williams, a prominent civil rights activist who marched with the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and paved a courageous and illustrious reputation as a freedom fighter in his own right, says she has learned through the years to value who she is.
Mental health has become a hot-button topic in recent years. Even the White House has moved to come up with a strategy to combat behaviorial issues that affect us all. Porsha says she’s learned to concentrate on herself.
“Whenever I wake up in the morning and feel those lows, I immediately prioritize Porsha,” she told the publication.
“I bet you thought I was going to say my daughter, but I prioritize myself. I will stop my morning, I don’t care what else is going on. I take it as a health emergency and I will stay in the bed, I will go in the bathtub, I will cry it out. I prioritize myself, because when I can be the best that I can be, then I can be that person for someone else. I can be the best mommy to Pilar. I don’t feel like it’s selfish at all to prioritize my mental health above everything. This is how I’ve pulled myself through depression through the years.”
Now a successful businesswoman, Williams has poured herself into entrepreneurship, launching several businesses.Don’t miss her new book coming on November, 30 2022 The Pursuit of Porsha. As a local celeb, Williams is not the only reality TV star making boss moves.Want to know what’s happening in and around Atlanta? Ford Fry’s Superica is opening another location in Atlanta, this time in West Midtown, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
The new Superica will be on Howell Mill Road next to The Optimist, another Fry restaurant.
Superica is one of the best places to eat in West Midtown.Superica Opening On Howell Mill Road
Superica’s Tex-Mex fusion food has been a hit since it began in Krog Street Market, which is considered its home base. The eatery continues to draw a crowd, from intowners looking for some authentic fare to tourists searching for the best Atlanta bites.
What Should I Order At Superica?
If you visit Superica, you’ll see a menu long on interesting twists to classic dishes. Here are some standout favorites that I’ve enjoyed over the last couple years.
Superica’s menu offers two food choices: dinner and brunch. Here are some dinner faves of mine, which I always recommend to others.
CHILE RELLENO crispy poblano pepper filled with corn, mushrooms, and Chihuhah cheese
CARNITAS DE PUERCO twice-cooked heritage pork belly, tomatillo salsa
HAMBURGUESA* (pictured) 8 oz. double meat, American cheese, chili con carne, mustard, lettuce, pickles, onions,
steak fries
MESQUITE GRILLED QUAIL served with two tamles smothered in chili con carne and cheese
El LOPEZ two cheese enchiladas, crispy beef taco, guacamole salad, puffy tostada con queso, rice and beansWho Owns Superica?
Superica is owned by restaurateur Ford Fry, a James Beard-nominated chef who’s culinary portfolio includes a who’s who of Atlanta bangers such as JCT Kitchen, The Optimist and of course, Superica.
“I want to create restaurants that strike a timeless emotional chord – restaurants that don’t pander to trend, but draw generations of families together,” says Fry.
How Many Superica Restaurants Are There?
In Atlanta, there are four Superica restaurants. They are located in the following locations:
- Krog Street Market: 99 Krog St NE, Atlanta, GA 30307
- Buckhead: 3850 Roswell Rd NE #100, Atlanta, GA 30342
- The Battery Atlanta: 455 Legends Pl #800, Atlanta, GA 30339
- The Avalon: 1130 1st St #1030, Alpharetta, GA 30009
- Ashford Lane: 1220 Ashford Crossing, Dunwoody, Ga. 30346
Outside of Georgia, there are Supericas in Charlotte, NC (2), and one in Houston, TX.
Final Word
Superica is one of Atlanta’s top Tex-Mex restaurants, but there are some other eateries in the same vein. The city is also known for its Mexican spots, especially those that serve the famous birria tacos.
Metro Atlanta’s food and drink scene is the best in the Southeast because there’s always a new place opening up. Want to try something new?
