Expectations: How Much Weight Can You Lose?

While there aren’t any hard and fast rules about how many pounds you can lose if you do Zumba, a good goal would be 3 pounds a week if you worked out three times a week.

Of course, that would largely depend on how many carbs you take in throughout the day and how many calories you consume on the days you do Zumba workouts.

You can lose about 4,000 an hour doing Zumba. So another way to look at it is that 1 pound = about 3,500 calories.

  • Keith Lee Atlanta food tour rankings as a city.

Here’s Where Food Critic Keith Lee Ranks Atlanta As A Food City

    3 Min Read

Detroit-based food critic Keith Lee has stirred up Atlanta residents once again. Lee, who embarked on his family food tour, which took five months to complete.

He said that he and his family went to eight different cities.

“My biggest issue with Atlanta is that it’s hard to get food,” he said, referring to the fact that it seemed like his status figured a bit too prominently for his tastes in Georgia’s largest city. “When he did eat, it was delicious.

And Atlanta Comes In Ranked As Number…

Here are the rankings of the 2023 Keith Lee Family Food Tour.

    8. Atlanta

Lee and his family’s foray into Atlanta left much to be desired on both sides. Lee’s much publicized brush-up with The Real Milk & Honey restaurant was perhaps the largest incident in the city in 2023.

Things got so bad that Lee said his family received death threats — that’s not cool!

    7. New York

In the Big Apple, Lee said that he tried his best to find the best places to eat, but wherever he went it never hit quite right despite his best efforts.

    6. Detroit

Despite being from Motown, Lee said that his home city’slack of food diversity led to its ranking where it did.

    5. Los Angeles

“Granted, we didn’t do a full food tour there, but he and his family traveled there “like, 20 times this year,” He said, the diverse food scene really made an impression on him.

    4. Las Vegas

“Vegas opened the door for me when it came to different foods and different cultures.”

    3. Chicago

Almost every spot in Chicago that Lee and his family went to had amazing food.

    2. Houston

He said that he couldn’t think of one place in Houston where he didn’t enjoy the food.

    1. New Orleans

“In my opinion, what set New Orleans apart — not by much — was the customer service. Everywhere we went, we felt like family. I’m talking about it felt like I was going to my cousin’s house. It didn’t feel like I was going to a restaurant. It didn’t feel like I was going to no established place. It felt like I was going to Auntie, Maw Maw, Paw Paw, whoever house you want to go to.”

With that said, make sure you check out the best restaurants in New Orleans. It also important to support the best black-owned restaurants in the Big Easy as well.

    Final Bite

Finding a place to eat in Atlanta is never a problem if you know where to go. East Point continues to be a place with plentiful things to do, see and eat!  If you like that part of town, don’t sleep on College Park either.

Atlanta-based frozen dog treats company Frost Bytz recently hosted its Paws & Pose event for dogs and owners to experience a doggy runway show and special holiday photo opportunities.

The event was curated around raising money for the Georgia Homeless Pets Animal Rescue Group, a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to save, care for, and place animals into loving homes.

“Frost Bytz appreciates everyone who attended our event,” said Bakir Floyd, co-founder of Frost Bytz, an Atlanta-based company that specializes in providing frozen doggy treats. “We’re happy that we were able to provide so much joy and make an impact with organizations like the Georgia Homeless Pets Animal Rescue Group, Lifeline Animal Project, and Happy Hearts Pet Care Atlanta.”

In addition to the money that was raised, Frost Bytz contributed a check of $500 to Georgia Homeless Pets Animal Rescue Group and also gave $500 checks to both Lifeline Animal Project and Happy Hearts Pet Care Atlanta.

Hosted by Atlanta radio personality Reec (Majic 107.5) and creative directed by Marcus Blassingame, attendees experienced a doggy fashion show, where models and dogs walked down the runway with wears by fashion designer Ricardo Auguste.

Auguste is the owner of Beaut Outerwear, a custom clothing label that designs garments for both pets and pet owners.

A few of the dogs that were up for adoption also strutted down the runway in Beaut Outerwear, allowing potential new dog owners to see what they got.  Additionally, attendees were able to take part in unique photo opportunities with four handmade custom holiday sets, where pet owners posed with their dogs.

“This was the perfect event to kick off the holiday season for pet owners. We were able to not only provide them with a unique experience for their dogs, but we also were able to give back to organizations that make an impact in the pet community,” Floyd said.

Floyd also commented that the success of this event means that the company will attempt to host more unique events with the same mission, supporting organizations that help dogs in need.

Review: Wood’s Chapel BBQ In Summerhill

    2 Min Read

There are quite a few fire barbecue restaurants in Atlanta that all specialize in some of the same specialties. It’s incredibly refreshing when you find one that has a fresh take.

I recently visited Wood’s Chapel BBQ in Summerhill for some tasty barbecue. I found out that one of the things that makes Wood’s Chapel BBQ unique is its use of wood-fired pits.

How’s The Food AT Wood’s Chapel BBQ? Check This Out

When I arrived at the restaurant, I was able to park right out in front on Georgia Avenue, which I hear is pretty rare, but I came around 1 p.m. on a cold weekday. The crowd was still light.

The restaurant’s set up is that you have to order your food and pay in advance at a counter, then find a place to sit in the main dining room or another one around the corner. I opted to sit in the space overlooking Georgia Avenue (where my car was).

The customer service was on point as the cashier was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us some recommendations. The waitress who gave us our food was very attentive. The food came out quick!

What’s On The Menu At Wood’s Chapel BBQ?

The menu has what you’d expect at a ‘Que joint: whole hog, prime brisket, salmon, and turkey and a whole mess of sides. I ordered the Brisket Sandwich with a side of Greens and Mac ‘N Cheese.

First of all, the Mac ‘n Cheese was the best I’ve ever had at a BBQ spot. The greens were good, although my favorite type is to have less sugar in them. They were seasoned very well though.

The Brisket Sandwich was soft, juicy and delicious. From the looks of it, you would have thought it was a Sloppy Joe, with the bun and all. I really enjoyed the shredded brisket. It was a simple sandwich but flavorful and it hit the mark.

Where Is Wood’s Chapel BBQ in Summerhill Located?

Wood’s Chapel BBQ in Summerhill is located at 85 Georgia Ave. Atlanta, GA 30312. Here’s a map to help you find it.

    Verdict

Wood’s Chapel BBQ’s food and customer service met my expectations in every way. I’m so glad I tried it because now it’s on my list.
