Diarra From Detroit Returns: The Perfect Excuse to Get Casted in Atlanta

    4 Min Read

Diarra From Detroit, the critically acclaimed dark comedy-drama created by, starring, and executive produced by Diarra Kilpatrick, is back for Season 2.

The series premieres with two episodes on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, on Paramount+, with new episodes dropping weekly through September 9.

The show masterfully blends mystery, humor, and raw Detroit energy, following Diarra Brickland as she navigates chaos, community, and personal drama in the Motor City. Season 2 promises even more of that signature grit and heart.

Why This Is the Ultimate Excuse for a Detroit Trip

Detroit’s vibrant food scene perfectly complements the show’s celebration of resilience, culture, migration stories, and reinvention. Pair your binge-watch with a real-world culinary adventure through soul food classics and Afro-Caribbean flavors that echo the series’ themes.

These restaurants reflect Detroit’s layered history — Southern roots from the Great Migration meeting Northern innovation, alongside newer waves of African and Caribbean entrepreneurship. Just like the show, the city’s dining scene pulses with creativity and heart.

The Atlanta Connection: Casting Calls and Production

While the story is set in Detroit, much of the production — including Season 2 — films in Atlanta, Georgia, a major hub for television and film. Casting calls for extras, background actors, kids, and more have frequently popped up in Atlanta throughout 2025, with opportunities for roles like gang members and photo shoots.

Possibility of future casting calls in Atlanta? Very high. Atlanta’s established infrastructure, tax incentives, and talent pool make it a go-to location for projects like this. With the show renewed and gaining buzz, expect more calls via local casting agencies (such as Hylton Casting) for Season 3 or beyond — especially for diverse roles reflecting the series’ authentic vibe. Aspiring actors should monitor sites like Backstage, The Southern Casting Call, or project-specific announcements. Local hires are often prioritized, giving Atlanta-area talent a strong edge.

    Plan Your Trip (or Audition)

Whether you’re a fan heading to Detroit to walk the streets where Diarra’s story unfolds or an aspiring extra eyeing Atlanta opportunities, Season 2 offers the perfect catalyst. Book that Motor City getaway, stream the episodes, and savor the flavors that make Detroit special.

Pro tip: Check restaurant hours and reservations (weekends fill up fast). For casting, follow Atlanta production updates and prepare headshots and availability.

What up doe? Season 2 is here — the table (and the set) is set. Stream it, taste it, and maybe even get cast in the next chapter. Enjoy!

Marvel Fans Hyped Over Atlanta-Filmed Avengers Endgame Trailer

    3 Min Read

Marvel fans are losing their stuff after the Avengers Endgame trailer debuted on Tuesday, April 2, 2019. The 2-minute video didn’t show many of the superheroes but gave fans just enough of the plot to spark a frenzy.

“Endgame” is slated to be released in U.S. theaters on April 26.

The new trailer comes on the heels of the success of Marvel’s Captain America. Unlike much of Avengers 4, which had key scenes shot in metro Atlanta, Captain America was filmed in London, Manchester, Caerwent, and Liverpool in the United Kingdom, and Los Angeles.

    Where was Avengers 4 filmed?

Filming for Avengers 4 began in August 2017 at Pinewood Studios in Fayetteville. The Atlanta area has been embraced by Marvel producers as an affordable place to shot and do post-production on the Avenger movies, including some of their individual superhero movies such as Ant-Man.

So far, three Avengers films have been shot in ATL with one slated for release in 2019.

The Captain Marvel trailer debuted during halftime of the Washington Redskins-Philadelphia Eagles game, which starts at 8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Fans can expect the usual superheroes with deep story arcs, including Iron Man, Black Panther, Captain America, Spider-Man, Black Widow and of course, Thanos.

Captain Marvel will be released in U.S. theaters on March 8, 2019, a few months ahead of Avengers 4, which premieres May 3.
