    HobNob Neighborhood Tavern Opening In Atlantic Station In Midtown Atlanta

    The husband and wife owned eatery HobNob Neighborhood Tavern is opening another location in metro Atlanta. The newest spot will be in Atlantic Station in Midtown Atlanta.

    The new HobNob eatery is set to open its doors in fall 2019.

    HobNob has three other locations in the city, one in Brookhaven, Dunwoody and the other off Piedmont in Midtown, the original eatery.

    The restaurant’s website describes it as “a ‘spirited’ place, featuring one of the largest collections of bourbon and whiskey in the Southeast. Fine Southern additions to the menu of refined tavern fare combined with sincere and friendly service make visiting this community-driven establishment a must for both weekday revelers and weekend warriors.”

    Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails in North Fulton is serving a feast on the last weekend of the month. The Alpharetta restaurant is having its 2019 Farmyard Chowdown Festival on Sunday April 28, 219.

    The food fiesta will take place in Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails back yard.

    Patrons can expect their annual Low Country Boil,but this year it’s going to be taken up a notch.

    Chef Derek will be serving up oysters, mussels, pickle fried chicken, BBQ, a low country seafood boil with crawfish, crab legs, shrimp, and more.

    Enjoy a live band and round up your friends or fam to play lawn games including corn hole and life size jenga. Capture the moment in our photo booth station and have a caricature artist portrait made to take home as a keepsake. Other activations are soon to be announced!

    The Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library (Rose Library) at Emory University is pleased to announce the symposium, “Blacks on the Left” (May 31-June 1, 2019). 

    The plenary speakers will be Michael C Dawson and Keith Gilyard. Dr. Dawson is John D. MacArthur Professor of Political Science and the College at the University of Chicago, and author of Blacks In and Out of the Left(2013) and Not in Our Lifetimes: The Future of Black Politics (2011).

    Rose Library at Emory: ‘Blacks on the Left’

    Dr. Gilyard is Edwin Erle Sparks Professor of English and African American Studies at Penn State, author of two recent monographs on prominent civil rights activists whose papers are held by the Rose Library: Louise Thompson Patterson: A Life of Struggle for Justice(2017) and John Oliver Killens: A Life of Black Literary Activism (2010).

    Inman Park Spring Festival takes place the last weekend in April each year. This time it’s April 27 and 28. Inman Park is home to many historic homes and parks and this festival sheds light on the neighborhood’s past as well as plans for the future. See the details.

    There will be plenty of food at this event, including Pizza, barbecue, gyros, sandwiches, funnel cakes and other street festival staples. Local restaurants will also be open.

    Inman Park Spring Festival & Tour of Homes: What you need to know

    On Friday, the Tour of Homes runs from Noon until 6:00 PM (there are no other Festival events on Friday.) On Saturday and Sunday the Tour of Homes runs from Noon until 6:00 PM. On Saturday, Festival (excluding the Tour of Homes) begins at 11:00 AM and runs until 9:00 PM. On Sunday, the times are 11:00 AM until 6:00 PM.

    Here are three things to know about the Inman Park Spring Festival & Tour of Homes:

    • The parade starts on Saturday at 2 PM.
    • The market is open from 11 AM to 6 PM on Saturday and Sunday.
    • The hours for the Tour of Homes are from noon until 6 PM on Friday and from noon until 6 PM on Saturday and Sunday.

    On Saturday, Festival (excluding the Tour of Homes) begins at 9:00 PM and runs until 9:00 PM On Sunday, the times are 11:00 AM until 6:00 PM.

    How much do tickets to the Tour of Homes cost?

    Tour of Homes tickets are $20 in advance and $25 starting Friday, April 26 (online sales incur a small additional ticket service fee).

    A recent study revealed that over 60% of the membership in the Atlanta Black Chambers weren’t confident that their businesses are identifiable in the marketplace.

    Less than two-thirds of the membership surveyed didn’t even have a website.

    Nearly a third of business owners felt that keeping up with technology advances was a major concern.

    Melvin Coleman, executive director of the Atlanta Black Chambers said BrandTech Day will have a different the business focus from most conferences.
    “Traditionally, a branding conference would have all branding professionals and an IT conference would attract all the IT professionals – because the objective is to provide professional development opportunities; whereas our objective is to give people some much needed help,” Coleman said.
