    2 Min Read

If you need a pick me up, the Bible is without question the most inspiring book ever written. Not only does it contain tons of encouraging Scriptures but it is the Word of God.

If you want to feel close to Him and motivate yourself at the same time, here are some of the most encouraging Scriptures in the Bible.

5 Encouraging Bible Verses You Need To Read Right Now

Let’s start off with several translations so you can get different flavors.

    Romans 8:31–32

“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?”New International Version

    Psalms 103:14

“He certainly knows what we are made of. He bears in mind that we are dust.” — God’s World Translation

    1 Corinthians 10:12–14

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” — King James Version

    Psalms 34:18

“Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit.”New World Translation

    Psalms 23:1-4

“The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. 2. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3. He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.4. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,  I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”New International Version

Atlanta Introduces Reopening Plan Amid COVID-19

    2 Min Read

Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms this week introduced Atlanta’s Path to Reopening, a five-phase plan that lays out the city’s safety protocols to operate amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Here Is Atlanta’s 5-Phase Reopening Plan

    • Phase 1: Stay At Home
    • Phase 2: Easing
    • Phase 3: Maintain
    • Phase 4: Recovery
    • Phase 5: “New Normal”

Bottoms stressed that Atlanta’s reopening plan is based on metrics rather than “arbitrary dates.” if COVID-19 cases start to surge and area hospitals get stained, the city will shift to its Stay at Home Phase (1).

See The 5-Phase Plan For Reopening Atlanta Online Here

The mayor made it clear that Phase 2 does not include reopening the City or City Hall, according to a news release.

The City also created a COVID-19 Atlanta Reopening Dashboard that allows the public to view gateway metrics the City is tracking to progress to Phase 2.

Here is the Atlanta COVID-19 Reopening Dashboard

Bottoms has been a vocal critics of Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp’s re-opening of the state, which took place more than three weeks ago.

“My big concern is as it gets warmer & warmer in Georgia…we will see fewer people with masks on. This is going to be the time that we really give a good look at our numbers & what impact our aggressive reopening has on our positive cases in the state.”she recently told MSNBC News.

Bottoms also has admitted that COVID-19 cases have not seemed to show any effects on Georgia’s reopening as of yet, but of course the nature of the virus is well known.

“Things are not as bad as I thought yet and I am very hopeful that they continue that way, but as we know, with COVID-19 there is often a lag in infections and when people begin to actually show symptoms and get sick,” she told CNN.

Before we get started, let’s look explicitly at what the CDC recommends when it comes to cloth masks. In its guidance titled “Recommendations Regarding the Use of Cloth Face Coverings,” the agency says this:

In light of this new evidence [asymptomatic transmission], CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies) especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.

The cloth face coverings recommended are not surgical masks or N-95 respirators.  Those are critical supplies that must continue to be reserved for healthcare workers and other medical first responders, as recommended by current CDC guidance.

Now that we’ve brushed up on the guidance, here’s what to know about mask effectiveness. This graphic shows the effectiveness of a surgical, N95 and FFP (filter face piece) as it relates to contaminants.

Basically, what it’s showing is that not all masks are equally effective in protecting you from the novel coronavirus Sars-CoV-2 & Covid-19. Now let’s get into the scientific data to back it up:

    • N95 Respirators: These are touted as providing 95% protection against viruses but maybe less, according to this study from the National Center for Biotechnology Information.
    • Cloth Masks:  The DIY nature of these means that not all cloth masks are created equal. However, a  preliminary study published in ACS Nano by University of Chicago and Argonne National Laboratory researchers indicate that homemade face masks made out of a combination of tight cotton and silk or polyester-spandex chiffon is very effective in filtering out aerosols.
    • Surgical Masks: Most used in a health care setting, these are made out of polypropylene and are 56% effective against viral droplets, according to research published in the British Medical Journal.
    • No Mask: You’re on your own with this one. Hope you’re not a carrier.

The CDC has issued guidance on how to protect yourself from COVID-19 by wearing a face cover. Here is what you need to know:

How To Make A Face Cover

    • fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
    • be secured with ties or ear loops
    • include multiple layers of fabric
    • allow for breathing without restriction
    • be able to be laundered and machine dried without damage or change to shape

The agency says when you remove a face covering, it’s important not to touch your hands, eyes or face.

You can easily wash a face covering in the washing machine, which is sufficient to kill any viruses or bacteria.

If you want to sew a face cover, here are the instructions:
