The waitress was a hoot – very friendly with a great sense of humor. The food was terrific. The ribs were the best I’ve ever eaten. It did take some time to get our food but it was worth the wait. If you are into excellent local food and atmosphere – this is the place while you are in Atlanta. If you expect a high class dining experience – go somewhere else.”

Das BBQ opens in Atlanta's Grant Park

Das BBQ has popped up in Grant Park across Memorial Drive from Oakland Cemetery. The eatery’s first location is on Collier Road in Midtown. If you want some good barbeque, check out Das BBQ.

Here’s what one reviewer says about Das BBQ: “Good BBQ, brisket is juicy. Pork ribs are fall of the bone tender, you can even eat (some) of the bones if you like. Chicken is chopped not pulled and only slightly above average. Sides are okay, but overpriced. My favorite is the creamed corn (more like cheesed corn). They generally are very quick, sides are portioned out before hand and usually you get your food within minutes.

“I believe this is the most expensive BBQ in the city (beating out previous champion Lake and Oak BBQ), mainly due to it’s a la carte menu. Rack of pork ribs and two sides is roughly $42 dollars before tip. That’s $10 dollars more expensive than a comparable meal from Fox Bros.”

    Dixie Q

Dixie Q BBQ restaurant in Brookhaven

Outside of the Fourth Ward, not as many people know about Chef Scott Serpas’ Brookhaven BBQ and burger joint, Dixie Q. It’s definitely one of those best-kept secrets on the Northside.

And yes I’ve received the wrong order,, but the waitress immediately corrected my order. My favorite is their Red Velet Chicken & Waffles…I suggest that you try the Fried Catfish! The service is great, but can’t expect the wait staff to be at your beckoning call in a crowded restaurant! The atmosphere is exactly what you’d expect at a restaurant lounge! Remember you get what you give…I get great service because I respect what the wait staff have to do & I tip well for good service! Read the reviews, but decide for yourself!”

It is even more awesome that they offer many flights of beer and we took that opportunity to try some local favorites. We tried some local Atlanta brews and each one of them was a treat of its own. Our favorite was sweet water brewery. We loved the chicken and waffles meal and we love just the fried chicken. Here’s what one reviewer says about Hattie B’s Hot Chicken. “Oh so yummies! I could have just had the waffles and been palatably pleased. I also had the chicken sandwich. Listed as “hot” chicken sandwich, I requested “mild”. Had I not had the forethought, there is no way that I would have been able to eat the sandwich, as I even had to drink the chicken pieces into the blue cheese to eat it. Heat is an understatement. The coleslaw, which comes on the chicken sandwich was a bit too vinegary for my taste but wasn’t completely off putting. I would get the sandwich again, as well as recommend it to others. Just get an extra lemonade to wash it down. Drink sizes are on the smaller scale.

I ordered their chicken sandwich which was AMAZING!!!! My cousin ordered the chicken and waffles. Can, we just take a moment to talk about how good the waffle was?!?!? Their waffle was so yummy with a nice chew that it put all other waffles to shame! I highly recommend trying this place, even if you don’t live near the city it’s worth the drive! I demolished the sandwich without getting the chance to take a pic. But I screen shot my cousins video of his food.”

The Hall at Ashford Lane is set to open its much-anticipated food hall this week in Dunwoody. Guests can look forward to nine food stalls along with multiple full-service options.

Spanning 17,000 square feet, The Hall at Ashford Lane boasts an expansive bar stocked with a curated wine list, craft beers and handcrafted cocktails. The bar is already being called “the biggest bar in Georgia.”

Dunwoody Food Hall Set To Open

Ashford Lane is a new mixed-use complex that features restaurants, retail, offices and residences all at its Perimeter Place location. JLL, a real estate company, is heading the design.

At The Hall at Ashford Lane, Wilson is looking for restaurants that can keep up in a food hall-style environment.

“Can the chef handle the volume?” Wilson told The Atlanta Business Chronicle. “Are they used to working with a community of other chefs? We look at a person more for their technical expertise than for a specific type of cuisine.”

When Will The Hall At Ashford Lane Open?

Wilson is reportedly projecting a November 2022 opening for The Hall at Ashford Lane, but he’s a busy man.

His hands are also full with another local food hall, The Grove, which will be built in Snellville. The Grove will be a 19,000 square food food hall and event space with 12 restaurants.

Guests who drive to the structure will find a state-of-the-art 300-unit parking garage for their vehicle.

“We are thrilled to bring the first food hall to Dunwoody,” Wilson said in a written statement. “Our mission is to create a vibrant and inclusive space where people can come together to savor exceptional food, enjoy refreshing beverages, and celebrate life’s moments. We are excited to welcome the community to experience the wide range of culinary offerings and the unmatched ambiance that The Hall at Ashford Lane has to offer.”

Chick-fil-A Closing Down At Popular Atlanta Mall

    2 Min Read

End of an era. The Chick-fil-A inside Greenbriar Mall is shutting its doors for good. The restaurant has set its last day for Saturday, May 202, 2023.

After that, to get a great chicken sandwich in Atlanta, you’re going to have to go elsewhere. The Greenbriar location is tied to Atlanta history as well as that of the famous eatery.

    Chick-fil-A’s History In Atlanta

Chick-fil-A burst on the scene when S. Truett Cathy, a scrappy entrepreneur with an affinity for chicken breast, opened a small eatery in 1967 in Greenbriar Mall. The restaurant drew steady crowds for its boneless chicken breast served on a toasted, buttery bun with two pickle chips.

A few miles away, Truett’s brother, Ben, opened an Atlanta diner known as The Dwarf Grill (later renamed The Dwarf House) in Hapeville, Georgia, just outside Atlanta.

Since those early years, Chick-fil-A has grown into one of the best fast-food restaurants in America. It has always maintained its Greenbriar outpost, but that is no longer the case.

A Twitter user shared a sign posted outside the restaurant in Greenbriar in southwest Atlanta.

Launched in Land-O-Lakes, Florida, Capital Tacos has taken its time with expansion plans. After the pandemic subsided, the eatery figured the time was right.

“Our goal was always to get the company to a point where we can get the Capital to as many people around the region, the state and the country as possible,” co-owner Josh Luger told the Tampa Bay Times. “We’ve had, not exaggerating, literally hundreds of requests for stores and franchises across the state and country from folks who visit the store or know us over the years.”
