Jinya Ramen Bar is set to open November 11 in Alpharetta City Center. The restaurant is widely thought of as having the best ramen in whatever city they’re in.
The eatery recently received a shoutout from Chrissy Teigen, who posted online about her favorite Jinya Ramen Bar dish.
“My pick is the spicy tonkotsu ramen,” she said. “It’s rich and tingly but not crazy-hot; the fire builds slowly with every slurp. Round out your meal with their buns, crispy chicken, and gyoza – if your kids don’t want ramen, they’ll destroy all of these and ask for seconds.”
For its Alpharetta debut, Jinya Ramen Bar is offering freebies as well. The first 50 people at 11 am. and 6 p.m. will receive a free ramen bowl.
The craze hasn’t escaped metro Atlanta’s food and drink scene, which has seen a fast-caz explosion in recent years.

The Atlanta Beltline Southside Trail has been opened on an interim basis. The all-gravel path connects the Westside and Eastside Trails. Here’s what it looks like.
The 4-mile Atlanta BeltLine Southside Trail officially opened in late August and has been used since that time by sporadic joggers, walkers and bikers.
Here’s what the Atlanta BeltLine Southside Trail looks like
If you plan on riding a scooter there, don’t do it: The interim trail is unpaved and makes for a rocky road.
The trail is nowhere near what it will be but already has outstanding potential by offering access to a former rail corridor, 11 public streets, bridges, crosswalks in at-grade crossings and two tunnels.
The Atlanta BeltLine Southside Trail traces its beginnings to March 2018. That’s when Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms announced that the BeltLine had acquired the 4.5-mile Southside Trail corridor from CSX.
“Linking the west and east sides of the Atlanta BeltLine is a top priority,” said Clyde Higgs, President and CEO of Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. “We recognize that this connectivity has been highly anticipated by our neighbors along the southern corridor. We are thrilled for this milestone and future construction.”
Where is the Atlanta BeltLine Southside Trail located?
The Atlanta BeltLine Southside Trail extends from University Avenue to Glenwood Avenue. Here are some photos of what the Southside Trail looks like in its interim state:
The city asks that the public do not use the corridor until the proper precautions have been taken to ensure that it is safe.
The Beltline is accepting volunteers to help clean up and beautify the trail through seasonal All Call Volunteer Days and Adopt the Atlanta BeltLine.
Current Southside Trail Adopters include TAF Designs, REI, Raulet Property Partners, Atlanta Community ToolBank, Mercer Street Neighbors, Eventide Brewing, and Jack and Jill of America. Learn more about these programs at beltline.org and by signing up for the Partnership’s monthly e-newsletter.

The Southside Trail of the Beltline has opened to the public. City officials commemorated the event, which has been anticipated for years.
Walkers, joggers can now travel 12 miles total on the Atlanta Beltline, officials said this week. The path is all gravel as of now, but will be beautified in the future.
Southside Trail of the Beltline opens to the public
The opening of the Southside Trail is important because it bridges University Avenue and connects the Eastside and Westside Trails.
The Southside Trail, still considered in what is called an “interim” state, is four miles in length and connects the Westside and Eastside Trails with plenty of mobility options and programming.
What’s new on the Beltline Southside Trail?
The Southside Trail of the Beltline is unpaved but has gravel for easy walking. It also gives you access to 11 public streets.
“I am delighted for the opportunity this represents for the residents of south and southwest Atlanta,” said Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. “Already, in an interim state, the Atlanta BeltLine Southside Trail is having a profound impact on affordable housing, jobs, and the economy in the surrounding communities.”
City officials will now turn their attention to linking the respective trails so that the public can easily access them.

There are plenty of interstates that you should show due caution pn when traveling, but Interstate 285, better known as I-285, or better yet, 285, is another animal.
That’s just one of several Atlanta interstates that you may be have to drive on when traveling in and through metro Atlanta.
The traffic perennially ranks as one of the worst in the nation and there are a few reasons for that:
- The drivers are from all across the country
- Atlanta’s highways are built like race tracks
- Nobody really knows where they’re going
It’s the latter one that makes Atlanta traffic so stressful. Anyhoo, if you’re here you’re going to have to learn how to drive through the traffic.
How To Drive On 285 (Safely) In Atlanta
285 is a loop that encircles Atlanta. It is approximately 63.98 miles.
If you’re trying to really make up some time to get to where you’re going around Atlanta, you’ll encounter 285 — but you don’t have to be afraid.
When driving on 285, don’t be on a hurry. I know it’s like a race track.
It’s best to travel in the middle lanes of 285, that way you won’t be accidentally take an exit or be in the fast lane.
If you want to see where the traffic is, download the WSB-TV traffic app for real-time road information. You can also get the Waze app or Google Maps.
Atlanta Express Lanes: What You Need To Know
G-DOT introduced the I-85 express lanes (Hot lanes) on the northside a few years ago around metro Atlanta. HOT stands for High Occupancy Toll because it costs money.
The lanes stretch from Chamblee Tucker Road, just south of I-285, to Old Peachtree Road in Gwinnett County.
Who can use Hot lanes in Atlanta toll-free?
The HOT lanes are for those who register, including three or more person carpools, motorcycles, emergency vehicles, and Alternative Fuel Vehicles (AFV) with the proper AFV license plate (does not include hybrid vehicles).
If you have three or fewer occupants, including solo drivers, you can pay to use the Express Lanes.
Here are the registered vehicles that are exempt from Express lane tolls:
-
Transit vehicles
-
Carpools with three or more occupants
-
Motorcycles
-
Emergency vehicles
-
Alternative Fuel Vehicles (AFV) with the proper AFV license plate (does not include hybrid vehicles)
How to get a Peach Pass in Atlanta
All vehicles, including those designated as “toll-exempt,” must be registered on an active Peach Pass account and have a Peach Pass transponder mounted inside or on the vehicle to use the Georgia Express Lanes.
You can sign up for a Peach Pass account online by clicking here or contact the Customer Service Center.

When is the best time to travel through Atlanta?
Because the Atlanta rush hour is virtually an all-day thing, you may find it best to travel through Atlanta after 8 p.m. The best time in fact may be between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. on week days.
On weekends, it’s best to get on the roads early, like 6 to 7 a.m. That way, you’ll beat the normal weekend traffic, which starts around 7ish.
