Atlanta movie mogul Tyler Perry gave yet another inspired speech at the 2021 Oscars ceremony.
Perry, who accepted the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, used the moment to speak out against hate and made a strong appeal to centrist views.

“I refuse to hate someone because they are Mexican or because they are Black or white or LBGTQ. I refuse to hate someone because they are a police officer. I refuse to hate someone because they are Asian.,” Perry said.
In his words, Tyler used words that referenced recent tragedies that have unfolded across American of late.
The recent attacks against Asians across the United States as well as the continued police shootings of black men were just two topics that viewers were reminded of when hearing Perry’s words.
Finally, he asked that those who want a real conversation to stand “in the middle,” saying that there is were “healing happens.”
“Anyone who wants to meet me in the middle to refuse hate, to refuse blanket judgment and to help life someone’s feet off the ground, this one is for you, too,” he said to a standing ovation.

The fight for full enfranchisement is fundamental to the African-American struggle in this country and to this country’s claim to functioning democracy. As an African-American, and as a citizen, I oppose all attempts, explicit and otherwise, to shrink the electorate and reduce access to the ballot. I say this as I return to Georgia, a state that holds a special place in my heart. I lived in Atlanta for eight months while filming my last movie. I have long looked forward to returning. But, when I was informed of the passage of SB202 in the state, and its ramifications for the state’s voters, I was profoundly disappointed.
But that’s also the reason why Coogler decided to keep production of Black Panther 2 in the Peach State.“Many of the people employed by [Black Panther 2], including all the local vendors and businesses we engage, are the very same people who will bear the brunt of SB202,” Coogler wrote.“Our film is staying in Georgia,” Coogler added. “Additionally, I have made a personal commitment to raise awareness about ways to help overturn this harmful bill, and continue to get educated on this matter from people on the ground. I will encourage everyone working with me to tap in with the local community directly affected by Senate Bill 202 and to leverage their influence and resources to aid in the fight for this particular and essential pillar of democracy.”
In response to the letter, political activist and former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams tweeted her support of Coogler. “Thank you to Ryan Coogler and #BlackPanther2 for staying in Georgia and fighting for access to democracy. #gapol #WakandaForever

The live action series of The Powerpuff Girls has begun filming in Georgia, according to news reports. TMZ posted pictures and video of the actors filming a recent scene in the Peach State.
The Powerpuff Girls, a popular cartoon from the 1990s, are being relaunched as a group of young adults that have grown disillusioned with the many responsibilities of a grownup.
Who’s Been Cast In The Powerpuff Girls Live Action Series?
Chloe Bennet, Yana Perrault and Dove Cameron will play the superheroes Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, the CW has announced.
Donald Faison has been tapped to play Professor Utonium, the girls’ creator.
Behind the camera will be Maggie Kiley, who has posted insider infomation on social media about the CW series.
“I am beyond excited to be onboard this super fun pilot with a legit dream team,” she wrote previously to her followers.
When Will The Powerpuff Girls Live Action Series Be Released?
The Powerpuff Girls release date has not been disclosed by The CW as of this writing. However, with casting calls ongoing in April 2021, it’s a real possibility that filming will wrap after a couple months and post-production could have it ready by fall 2021.

The Breakfast Boys is the latest venture from Lorenzo Wyche of Lorenzo Wyche Restaurants, a boutique food services company that has brought Gocha’s Breakfast Bar and Breakfast at Barneys and more to the city. Gregory “Gee” and Juan Smalls, the owners of Virgil’s Gullah Kitchen, are also proprietors of the Breakfast Boys.

Atlanta restaurant Le Petit Marche is closing its doors, owner Marchet Sparks announced in a recent Instagram post.
Sparks had run Le Petit Marche for 13 years in the Kirkwood neighborhood of Atlanta. As a successful restaurateur, Sparks joined a small band of black-owned eateries in the early part of 2000s that took a chance on entrepreneurship in the food industry.
Le Petit Marche Abruptly Closes Its Doors In Atlanta
Her restaurant regularly packed customers in lines out the door, but she has other plans going forward.
“I did decide to close this week,” she said. “It’s a matter of timing: My lease is up. And it’s a matter of opportunity,” she said. Sparks will resume her career as a real estate sales agent as well as manage her Airbnb in the city.
“We were able to grow the business into what it will become: a legacy, a legacy in everyone’s hearts forever,” she said.
The COVID-19 pandemic has hit the restaurant industry hard, especially in Atlanta. Several black-owned establishments have closed their doors during that time including:
Sweet Auburn Seafood
“Our goal has always been to provide excellent food, service and memorable experiences to every guest and we hope in some way we have accomplished that for you,” the eatery said in an Instagram post days before its September 2020 closure. ” When the idea of the restaurant concept was conceived, we could think of no better place than the Historic Auburn Avenue District which resulted in the creation of Sweet Auburn Seafood.
Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint
The Peachtree Street eatery closed its doors in April 2020 and hasn’t opened back up since.

If you love authentic Mexican cuisine and agave-based drinks, you’re going to love Antiguo Lobo, a new restaurant and tequila bar opening in downtown Chamblee.
Antiquo Lobo, which means “Old Wolf” in Spanish, is the latest eatery from restaurateur Jesús Oñate Jr., whose father embedded in him an appreciation for dishes from the elder’s home state in western Mexico: Jalisco.
“I’m honored to carry on my father’s legacy with this new restaurant, which is a homecoming of sorts as my father opened his first restaurant in the U.S. in Chamblee,” he says in a written statement.
What’s On The Menu At Antiquo Lobo?
Antiquo Lobo promises a creative menu that lends heavily on locally sourced ingredients when possible. There will be the customary small plates, ensaladas (salads), sopas (soups), but also larger entrees.

A new report lists Druid Hills as one of the nation’s best suburbs based on several economic factors including household income, house prices and more.
Now, while it’s certainly a nice enclave that people want to live in, Druid Hills is not really a suburb, but we’ll take it.
Home lending site RenoFi analyzed more than 600 suburban areas in the United States to arrive at its list. The criteria used in the study are:derived from eight livability factors that would make the destination more livable.
In addition to home prices, some of the factors included:
- Crime rate
- Unemployment ratio
- Property taxes
- Clinician to patient ratio
