West Coast rapper Nipsey hussle has a huge Atlanta following. That’s why Live Nation just added more dates to his concert, which is this weekend. Hussle’s “Victory Lap Tour” lands in the ATL at the Buckhead Theatre on Friday, June 8 and Saturday, June 9 (SOLD OUT) 2018.
The rapper has gotten equal parts praise and pouting for his outspoken views. But it’s clear that he’s trying to swing the pendulum toward ownership for the creative class. And who could be mad at that?
Nipsey Hussle comes to Atlanta
“When you talk about black entrepreneurship, you’re talking about addressing the foundation of what’s going on with our people when we don’t have any financial power,” he tells Billboard. “Our basic needs aren’t being met in a lot of cases, so there’s no way we’re going to be able to tap into our potential until we address those bottom-level base needs.”

Grier blazed a trail for actresses, showing Hollywood that women could open and carry movies as the lead characters. Many of her films seen on Brown Sugar – Foxy Brown, Coffy, Sheba, Baby, and Friday Foster to name a few – are excellent representations of that. She also starred in Jackie Brown written and directed by Quentin Tarantino and co-starring Samuel L. Jackson, Robert DeNiro and Michael Keaton. Grier received rave reviews and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress for her performance. She later starred in the TV series The L Word and Smallville with guest appearances on numerous other hit shows.

Adam & Kizzie joined together on a mission to give music their absolute best. Their music is a tribute to everything that is genuinely great about music. Without a genre-specific box to pin their music to, they are now affectionately known as The Originators of EEDO, their own non-genre genre.
Nick Rosen has made a name as one of the most sought after musicians in the southeast, performing all over the country with Col. Bruce Hampton, The Shadowboxers, Russell Gunn and more. His debut album Step Into the Light was released on Ropeadope Records in 2015 featuring appearances by grammy winners Oteil Burbridge and Saunders Sermons. His latest endeavors include opening for Justin Timberlake on his Man of the Woods tour.

Virginia-based painter Emma Knight recently debuted her latest art exhibition Walking the ATL, which opened at Brickworks Gallery on June 2. The artwork, which comes from photos she took during a nearly 20-mile trek around the city last fall, shows Atlanta from the pedestrian’s view.
Speaking to Artsatl.com, Knight said: ““I am a romantic, and I love fairy tales. So I guess that informs the way I see things. And I love doing trees. There’s something very elegant, even a little spooky, about a bare limb. By the same token, there is nothing more beautiful than the combination of voluminous shapes in tandem with very sharp, thin lines.”
Her style includes painting a picture on the canvas and even distorting reality “if necessary,” she told the publication.
The Beltline has made major strides in engaging the city’s arts community. Knight’s work will only serve to strengthen those efforts as more homegrown artists discover the possibilities.
Walking the ATL runs uns through August 31 at Brickworks Gallery.
