One of the most elusive fares you can get in the airline industry is a bereavement fare.
Delta Air Lines and other carriers sell bereavement fares to fliers in need. Because this are usually last minute, they can be pricey.
A bereavement fare is a flight that is discounted because of the death or impending death of a loved one such as a relative.
How To Get A Bereavement Fare From Delta Air Lines
Delta’s bereavement policy is based on three requirements:
- The death or imminent death must be a member of your immediate family
- The flight is subject to availability
- You can’t book a bereavement fare online; you must call Delta
The price of a Delta bereavement fare will vary based on many factors, including date and time. The airline says that such fares offer “additional flexibility on the best published fare for your itinerary when last minute travel is required.”
How much of a discount are bereavement fares?
Bereavement fares can be as cheap as 50% off, but increasingly the discounts are much lower than that.
The price all depends on the flight availability. Many times, bereavement fares may not even be the cheapest flights. Sales on airfare may make for a more affordable option.
How to Book A Delta Bereavement Fare
Call Delta Reservations at 800-221-1212 to book a bereavement fare for domestic flights or 800-241-4141 for international flights.
As alluded to earlier, you can’t purchase bereavement fares on delta.com. You may get a cheaper flight, but that is not a guarantee. What is promised is that service fees will be waived.
Tips For Calling An Airline For A Bereavement Fare
When you call the airline, you want to make sure you take some steps to help you with your goal of getting an affordable flight.
- Be flexible
- Be kind
- Be honest
When you call the airline, you’ll want to remain calm and not break down over the phone, as you want to communicate as clearly as you can.
Ask the reservations agent if they have a nonstop flights, since you don’t want to get delayed due to connecting flights.
In the end, you want to make sure you get the help you need by being a partner in trying to get a bereavement fare.

Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith came, he saw and concurred. Quarterback Desmond Ridder can’t deliver what the team needs over the remainder of the season.
Ridder has been benched by Smith, according to news reports. If you watch the Falcons, you know that this is the second time this season that the Falcons have chosen to sit their starting quarterback.
In his stead, Gwinnett football standout Taylor Heinicke will resume the starting role as signal caller. In three games for the Falcons this season, Heinicke has thrown for 498 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.
Confidence evidently waned after the Falcons’ 9-7 defeat to the hapless Carolina Panthers last week.
What Are Desmond Ridder’s Stats For the 2023 Season?
Ridder threw for 300 yards three times during the season, but was plagued by turnovers and bad decisions in clutch moments. Here are his 2023 stats:

If you’ve got some old electronic devices that no longer work or you no longer need, you should consider selling them. Yes, that old iPod or Walkman can be sold or cash.
It’s easier than ever today to make money online by selling your used items, including electronics. The good news is your don’t have to go to the local mall to make a transaction; it can all be done online.
Before selling your electronics, remember to:
First, Wipe Your Data Off Your Device
It’s up to you to ensure all personal data is removed from the devices before selling them. The last thing you want is someone with access to your personal data because you were too lazy to erase your device.
Where To Sell Your Old Electronics
In this article, I’m going to show you where you can sell your old electronics.
There are several options for selling old electronics, depending on your preferences and the condition of the items. Here are some common avenues:
Online Marketplaces
You already know about Amazon no doubt, but what about the tons of other online marketplaces out there that allow you to sell stuff online? Let’s take a look:
eBay
An online auction and shopping website eBay allows you to list your electronics for sale. You get to decide whether to auction the item off to the highest bidder or set up a traditional sale with a set price.
Facebook Marketplace
Facebook is for more than making friends, it’s also for making money. Facebook Marketplace is a platform for buying and selling items locally within your community.
In Atlanta, people are selling just about everything you can think of on the site.
Gazelle
Gazelle.com is a website that buys used electronics, offering quotes based on the condition of the items.
Swappa: A marketplace specifically for buying and selling used electronics like smartphones and laptops.Craigslist

Websites like Craigslist or Gumtree allow you to list items for sale locally. Here’s how I was able to sell my iPhone on Craigslist.
- Go to Craigslist.com and click on the “Post” button in the top right corner.
- Choose the location (city of Atlanta, OTP East, OTP West, etc.)
- Fill out the form explaining the posting title, description and ZIP Code.
- A map will pop up, allowing you to add your location and cross street for reference.
- Next it’s time to add images to your post (the more images, the better your post will likely do).
- Now it’s time to pay $5 to $25 depending on whether it’s a service or job posting.

You can pay via credit card or PayPal. Once payment is complete, you’ll receive an email with a link that allows you to click and publish.
Trade-in Programs
There are many websites with trade-in programs for your electronics. Apple Trade-In and the Best Buy Trade-In programs are two of the best who make it easy.
Want to ditch an old phone? Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T are three wireless carriers that have trade-in programs where you can exchange your old electronics for store credit or a discount on a new purchase.
Aside from trade-ins, you can buy used phones in the area as well.
Recycling Centers and Garage Sales
If your electronics are old and no longer functional, consider recycling them. Many electronic retailers and recycling centers accept old electronics for proper disposal.
You can also find buyers for your electronic items by taking advantage of community sales events like estate sales and garage sales.
To sell your old electronics directly to individuals, you can also look up local flea markets, or swap meets in your area.
Final Word
Remember to check in with local electronics stores, as some may buy used electronics or offer trade-in programs.
When you list your old electronics for sale, make sure to provide clear and accurate descriptions of the item’s condition.
And finally, be super-cautious when meeting people for local transactions, and consider using secure payment methods for online sales to protect yourself and the buyer.

The annual tradition known as the Peach Drop won’t be happening this year, Atlanta officials said on Friday.
The City of Atlanta cited that its exhibition budget sort of went to the hip-hop celebration in put on earlier in the fall to coincide with the 50th anniversary of hip-hop.
“This year, the City dedicated our resources to celebrating the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop and other local activities directly serving the community. While a worthy tradition in the past, the Peach Drop has not been an annual event since 2017. Each year is different, and we can always reevaluate next year,” a city of Atlanta spokesperson said in a statement.
The cancellation of the New Year’s Eve event means Atlanta residents and visitors will need to find another way to bring in the new year.
No matter if you want to catch a comedy club, go out for a night of cocktails and hookah, or go to the club, Atlanta has it all. And if you want to eat in a special place, Atlanta new restaurants continue to pop up every week!

A woman was arrested In Atlanta on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023, after she was caught allegedly pouring gasoline on the birth home of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
Laneisha Shantrice Henderson, 26, who was recorded on cell phone video dousing the porch with what witnesses say smelled like gasoline, was stopped by passersby, who alerted Atlanta police.
Henderson is reportedly a former Sailor with the U.S. Navy. Her father told local media that Henderson had been missing for a couple days and was likely going through a mental health episode.
