    Atlantans may be curious about some of the more fascinating buildings being refurbished in the city. Now’s your chance to learn more about one in them in particular.

    On Friday, June 22 at 1 to 2 p.m., come tour the Switchyards Downtown Club and get the scoop on the only startup hub in the country focused exclusively on creating beautiful startups for consumers.

    The tour will be led by founder Michael Tavani and you’ll hear the vision for SDC as more than just a building, see the 1920’s renovated space, and learn about our membership options.

  • Big Boi Performs At SunTrust Park After Braves Game

    None other than Sir Lucius Leftfoot performed at  SunTrust Park on Saturday, June 23 after the 4:10 p.m. game against the Baltimore Orioles. Big Boi, known mostly around the world as one-half of the Atlanta rap duo Outkast,  bumped a number of his hits from his third full-length solo album “Boomiverse.”

    Big Boi, (real name Andre Patton) is a seven-time Grammy Award winning, RIAA diamond-certified musician with a string of hits to his credit.

    The “Boomiverse” album track “All Night” was featured in Apple’s Animoji commercial. Big Boi is also well known for songs such as “In The South” featuring Gucci Mane and Pimp C and singles “Mic Jack” featuring Adam Levine and “Kill Jill” featuring Killer Mike & Jeezy.

    After OutKast went on hiatus, Big Boi burst upon the scene by himself with his 2010 solo debut, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty.  The project reached #3 on the Billboard Top 200 and received unanimous critical acclaim with Pitchfork proclaiming it one of the “100 Best Albums of the Decade ‘So Far'” and topping year-end lists from Time, Paste, Vibe, and more.

  • Free At Stats Brewery: Atlanta Hawks Draft Party

    The Atlanta Hawks are going to be making some big moves at the NBA Draft. Fans are invited to cheer the team on Thursday, June 21 at 6:30 p.m. at STATS for the 2018 Draft Viewing Party Driven By Kumho Tire.

    The city’s biggest fans will get together to watch the team make three first-round selections during the 2018 NBA Draft.

    The watch party is free and open to the public. There will be appearances by the Atlanta Hawks Cheerleaders, Harry the Hawk, Flight Crew, and more.

    Tickets are FREE and required for entry, so claim them before they’re gone!

    Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

    Nope, everyone is welcome!

    What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

    Although we strongly advise taking MARTA or Uber, there are plenty of cash/card lots in Downtown Atlanta walking distance from STATS.

    Save the trees! No need to print your ticket(s). They will be emailed to you once you submit your order. On the day of the event, upon entering STATS, please show your mobile ticket.

  • Steve Harvey Kicks Off 10th Year Of Mentoring Program

    Now in its 10th consecutive year, the Steve and Marjorie Harvey Mentoring Program kicked off recently with a number of metro Atlanta luminaries giving their support.

    Special guests for the event, which ran from June 14 to 17 included educator Steve Perry, singer Anthony Hamilton, David Otunga, Dr. Alex Ellis, Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, Dr. Kenneth Redcross, NBA Player DeAndre’ Bembry of the Atlanta Hawks and more.

    “Ten years in, we are seeing many former mentees attend and finish college when they could have taken a very different path,” said Steve Harvey. “They have grown into fine, productive young men.  I am indebted to the role models as well as to our sponsors and supporters who have enabled us to host this camp.”

  • Atlanta’s Migos To Receive ASCAP Vanguard Award At Soul Music Awards

    Atlanta rap group Migos have been the hottest names in rap for the past couple years, and it’s no wonder. With star collaborations with major acts like Drake, and most recently, Beyonce, the rappers know how to make a hit.

    On June 21, 2018, Migos will receive the ASCAP Vanguard Award at the ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards In Los Angeles, California.

    The award recognizes the impact of artists that help shape the future of American music.  Past ASCAP Vanguard Award honorees include Kendrick Lamar, Beastie Boys, Taio Cruz, Diplo, Janelle Monáe, Santigold, Dua Lipa, St. Vincent, The Arcade Fire, The Strokes, Beck and Bjork.

    “From their peerless triplet-based raps to bringing the dab to pop culture, Migos have been one of the most influential acts in hip-hop,” said ASCAP President Paul Williams.  “After breaking out with ‘Versace’ in 2013, Offset, Quavo and Takeoff proved that they could bring their trap style to the top of the charts. Their inimitable chemistry transcends genre.”

    Migos exploded on the national scene in 2016 with their hit, “Bad and Boujee.” Since then, they have been a mainstay on the Billboard charts. The trio is touring with Drake as part of the Aubrey and the 3 Amigos tour.

    Longtime music couple Kindred & The Family Soul are swinging through Atlanta this weekend and it’s kind of a special occasion: It’s their 20th wedding anniversary!

    They’ll be celebrating The APX at Center Stage on Friday, June 15, 2018.  Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Seats are going from $25 to $40 for Reserved Seating.

    The musical couple, who have four daughters and a son, say the key to their success has been their ability to stay true to their music roots, which fans appreciate.

    “We always strive to, for lack of a better phrase, ‘keep it real,’ you know what I mean?” they told Soultracks.com in an interview. “A lot of different people feel where we’re coming from, they understand who we are and what our message is. It just comes down to encouraging people, by example, to be who they are and to really celebrate that.”

  • Wolf Creek Old School Hip Hop Fest

    South Fulton County will be immersed in old-school hip hop and R&B this weekend as the Old School Hip Hop Fest takes place at Wolf Creek Amphitheater on Saturday, June 16, 2018.

    Slated to perform or a number of artists that need no introduction, including Doug E. Free, Chubb Rock, Whodini, Big Daddy Kane, MC Lyte and Rob Base.

    Gates open at 5:30 p.m., with the show set to start at 7 p.m.

    Wolf Creek is a concert venue run by Fulton County and operated by Live Nation. The sprawling 450-acre site can accommodate more than 5,400 guests, which it typically does during concert season (May through September).

    Jill Scott Comes To Atlanta’s Fox Theatre

    Jill Scott, the accomplished Philadelphia singer and actress, is coming to Atlanta to perform at the Fox Theatre. She is touring in support of her “In the Moment” tour.

    Scott burst upon the music scene at the turn of the century with her 2000 debut, Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1,  which went platinum. She then followed that up with Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Vol. 2 (2004) and The Real Thing: Words and Sounds Vol. 3 (2007), which both achieved gold status.

    She then got into acting, playing one of James Brown’s wives on the big screen. She has also starred in  in Hounddog (as Big Mama Thornton) and in Tyler Perry’s movie, Why Did I Get Married?

    Scott comes to Atlanta nearly four years after she released her last album, “Woman.” Her show is scheduled for Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 8 p.m.

  • Atlanta Film Production Hiring At $350 A Day

    Do you want to make a quick $350 for one day of shooting? Listen closely, producers are looking to film some scenes involving an ATL-based man, woman, child and elderly man.

    Not much is known about the production as of yet, but casting directors are trying to get the four people so that they can begin shooting on July 17 and July 18 in Atlanta.

    • Dad – Caucasian – 30s to 40s
    • Son – Mixed Latina/Caucasian – 11 years old
    • Elderly man – African American – late 60s
