Musical act Lion Babe is set to perform in Atlanta on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at The Loft.
The New York-based duo (Jillian Hervey and producer Lucas Goodman) has grown in popularity since their 2012 debut “Treat Me Like a Fire.” Their self-titled EP would come two years later.

Few people know it, but Hervey is the daughter of actress-singer Vanessa Williams and Ramon Hervey II.
Goodman, who attended Northeastern University, met Hervey through a mutual friend and after a dormant period, the two would reunite to create beautiful music together.

Renown local chef Kevin Gillespie is set to open a pop-up concept in downtown Atlanta in June. The new Atlanta restaurant will be called Ole Reliable and will serve coffee, breakfast and lunch.
Old Reliable will be located at 133 Peachtree St. NW in the Georgia Pacific building in the space formerly occupied by Aramark.

“I’m really excited about setting up shop downtown and providing the hard-working folks at Georgia- Pacific Center with a morning pick-me-up or a midday meal,” Gillespie said in a written statement. “This is our first foray into coffee which I love and have been obsessed with for years. It’s also fun to have a chance to serve our guests during the day, as currently we only serve dinner at our restaurants.”
Gillespie is chief ideas man for Red Beard Restaurants LLC, his operations and management company. He rose to fame after he was a finalist on “Top Chef” in 2009. In 2013, he opened Gunsmoke in Atlanta.

Come to “Jet Magazine Reimagined” in Atlanta and celebrate and highlight the achievements of influential African Americans past and present that achieved success in a variety of fields, impacting their community.
This event is set for Sun, May 26, 2019 from 6 to 10 p.m. ET.
Jet Magazine Reimagined in Atlanta
This experience intends to celebrate creativity, individuality and originality. This will be an event dedicated to art, music, and art enthusiast. The exhibition will celebrate Jet Magazine, influencers like Solange Knowles, Dr. Angela Davis, Outkast and Lauryn Hill, among others.
Jet Magazine Reimagined will use 1950’s and 60’s Jet magazine cover art as a resource and inspiration for the exhibition. Graphic artist Shaheed Rucker will redesign the vintage JET magazine covers in a variety of ways. The experience will take you on a journey through the magazine and its content.
The show will take place at Buckhead Art & Company in Atlanta, GA from 6pm-10pm.

Georgia businesses have generated $7 billion in economic activity with the help of Google’s search and advertising tools, according to a new report.
Google’s products have helped 39,000 businesses in the state, according to the tech company’s Economic Impact Report.

The study chronicles Okabashi, a family-owned and operated shoe company in Buford. The firm uses Google’s digital tools to increase their online presence and reach customers.
“For American small businesses, the web is the most powerful tool to attract new customers and retain existing ones,” said Mary Ellen Coe, President of Google’s Global Customer Solutions. “Last year, our search and advertising tools helped generate billions of dollars in economic activity for millions of businesses. And we look forward to continuing our work with Georgia’s business, nonprofits and publishers to help them grow.”
Georgia is fully invested in Georgia as well. The company employs more than 350 state residents full-time at its Midtown Atlanta and Austell offices as well as its data center in Douglas County.

Ponko Chicken recently had a soft opening in Midtown Atlanta, AtlantaFi.com has learned. This is Ponko Chicken’s second location in metro Atlanta.
The new Atlanta restaurant will have their official grand opening on Friday, May 3, 2019. The event will have live music, giveaways, free samples and more.
Ponko Chicken’s original location is in Chamblee. Now the new spot is serving lunch and dinner.
