“The response to Johnny’s so far has been fantastic,” Ne-Yo said. “And that’s because it combines two things all Atlantans love—delicious chicken and waffles and our unsurpassed homegrown music scene.”
The restaurant is currently hiring all positions and has set a June date for its grand opening.

Atlanta’s place as a mecca of black-owned food spaces continues to grow across the metro area. Next up is The Hall at Ashford Lane, a food hall, planned for Dunwoody.
The Hall at Ashford Lane is set to open its much-anticipated food hall this week in Dunwoody. Guests can look forward to nine food stalls along with multiple full-service options.
Spanning 17,000 square feet, The Hall at Ashford Lane boasts an expansive bar stocked with a curated wine list, craft beers and handcrafted cocktails. The bar is already being called “the biggest bar in Georgia.”
Dunwoody Food Hall Set To Open
Ashford Lane is a new mixed-use complex that features restaurants, retail, offices and residences all at its Perimeter Place location. JLL, a real estate company, is heading the design.
Jamal Wilson is the mastermind behind the new food hall and event space concept, which will be spread across 17,000 square feet and feature 10 restaurants.
Wilson has previously opened food halls in Orlando and Tampa and is set to debut another one in New Orleans this fall.
At The Hall at Ashford Lane, Wilson is looking for restaurants that can keep up in a food hall-style environment.
“Can the chef handle the volume?” Wilson told The Atlanta Business Chronicle. “Are they used to working with a community of other chefs? We look at a person more for their technical expertise than for a specific type of cuisine.”
When Will The Hall At Ashford Lane Open?
Wilson is reportedly projecting a November 2022 opening for The Hall at Ashford Lane, but he’s a busy man.
His hands are also full with another local food hall, The Grove, which will be built in Snellville. The Grove will be a 19,000 square food food hall and event space with 12 restaurants.
Guests who drive to the structure will find a state-of-the-art 300-unit parking garage for their vehicle.
“We are thrilled to bring the first food hall to Dunwoody,” Wilson said in a written statement. “Our mission is to create a vibrant and inclusive space where people can come together to savor exceptional food, enjoy refreshing beverages, and celebrate life’s moments. We are excited to welcome the community to experience the wide range of culinary offerings and the unmatched ambiance that The Hall at Ashford Lane has to offer.”
Where Will The Hall At Ashford Lane Be Located?
The Hall at Ashford Lane will be located at 4550 Olde Perimeter Way, Atlanta, GA 30346. Here’s a map to help you find it.

Atlanta is the official food hall mecca. Another Atlanta food hall, Privi, is set to open in South DeKalb County after construction, which began this spring, is complete.
Privi is being built by Stonecrest Resorts, which has been completing the project in phases. The 143,000-square-foot structure constitutes a renovation of Sears at The Mall at Stonecrest.
Privi Food Hall Set To Open At Stonecrest
Privi is not just a food hall. It is a multi-use development that includes two phases:
The 25,000-square foot SeaQuest Interactive Aquarium opened in November 2021.
In the second quarter of 2023, the 50,000 square foot food hall, complete with health and wellness concepts, meeting and workspace for creatives, a 6,000 square-foot live music venue and event space complete with retail shops, will open in 2024.
The nearly $20 million development’s food hall will be located on the second floor of the mall and boast a mosaic of diverse restaurants.
For now, 13 eateries are planned for the food hall include Dope Coffee, The Original Hot Dog Factory and the Atlanta Breakfast Club, to name a few.
There will also be a craft bar, golf simulator suites, a daiquiri bar, and a fine dining restaurant planned to open by spring 2024. “The goal is to offer a foodie paradise that will attract people eating on the go, family outings, meeting with friends, date nights for couples, or celebrating a special occasion,” Osiris Ballard, co-owner of Good Food & Company, the hospitality group and curator of the food hall, said in a written statement.
Privi, a reference to the words privilege and privy, has made deals to bring in some high-profile tenants. As of now, none is higher than SeaQuest Interactive Aquarium.
Other Privi tenants include the following businesses:
An art gallery
Baldwin’s Literary Social Bookstore
Garden Life Juice Bar
The Exposure Hub
101 TKO Radio
3 Degrees Infrared Sauna Studio
Picasso’s Splat Room
The Lion’s Cage MMA & Fitness Gym
To draw interest, Privi had an R&B concert on May 13 and plans a celebration in honor of hip-hop’s 50th anniversary on May 20.
Final Word
In addition to the food hall, Privi will also include TRYP by Wyndham: The capstone achievement of the Priví project will be the completion of the TRYP by Wyndham Hotel providing 110 guest rooms, a full-service bistro, a roof-top bar, and additional meeting space. TRYP will be the first full-service hotel in Stonecrest and is a part of Wyndham’s new Black Ownership & Lodging Development (BOLD) Initiative.
Johns Creek, Georgia will be the location of the first Capital Tacos restaurant in the Peach State. The Florida-based company announced earlier that it was making a major expansion in Georgia.
Capital Tacos’ Johns Creek location is set to open on May 25, 2023. Shortly after that, another location will open in Peachtree Corners. The company sees metro Atlanta as a major cog in its growth plans.
The eatery specializes in a Tex-Mex cuisine, which they take seriously.
Here is what it says on the restaurant’s website: “Every item on our menu is made from scratch and grilled up to order. From starters to munch while you wait, to award-winning flavor profiles and inventive meals that simply don’t follow the rules.”
Capital Tacos Expands In Metro Atlanta
Launched in Land-O-Lakes, Florida, Capital Tacos has taken its time with expansion plans. After the pandemic subsided, the eatery figured the time was right.
“Our goal was always to get the company to a point where we can get the Capital to as many people around the region, the state and the country as possible,” co-owner Josh Luger told the Tampa Bay Times. “We’ve had, not exaggerating, literally hundreds of requests for stores and franchises across the state and country from folks who visit the store or know us over the years.”
Now it’s Atlanta’s turn to experience food on a “Capital” level.

Pizza is going high-tech with the entry of PizzaForno in the Atlanta market. Aiming to be one of the best pizza places in Atlanta, the company, known as North America’s first 24/7 automated pizzeria, is expanding into Georgia.
PizzaForno is opening three locations in metro Atlanta with the first one set to be in Atlanta’s popular Buckhead neighborhood at 3861 Roswell Road. The two additional locations will open around metro Atlanta later in May.
When Is PizzaForno Opening In Buckhead?
A Grand Opening event will take place at the 3861 Roswell Road location in Atlanta’s popular Buckhead neighborhood on Saturday, May 6.
The opening event is from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature free pizza, family-friendly music, games, freebies and giveaways. Prizes will be given for games and an “Enter to Win” contest drawing will be held for two lucky winners to win free pizza for an entire year.
The three entrepreneurs responsible for this expansion are business partners Tyler Young, Paul Nair and Mick Patel. Young has always had a passion for the restaurant industry, and started running restaurants when he was in college. Paul is the founder and owner of Savi Provisions, a neighborhood spot for organic foods, wine, spirits, and sandwiches. Mick Patel is Director of Business Development and Franchise Owner of Savi Provisions. The three were always interested in technology and innovation in the restaurant space and were immediately drawn to PizzaForno.
“One of the biggest issues I’ve seen with all my time in the restaurant industry is labor retention,” said master licensee Tyler Young. “With PizzaForno, we solve that problem. Not only are we offering a high-quality, fresh product, but we are able to offer it 24/7 without worrying about staffing.”
The trio are passionate about bringing this dining option to the area, and plan to install units in universities, hospitals and anywhere else that people would benefit from convenient, 24/7 access to their product. While they plan to open five units throughout the year, they hope to bring a total of 50 to the area.
Final Bite
PizzaForno currently has 61 operating locations and over 500 additional locations committed in the U.S. alone, with the first 50 U.S. locations already established in Michigan, Texas, and Louisiana. Now it’s time for Georgia residents to get hooked.
