Southwest Low Fare Calendar: How To Get The Cheapest Fares

    4 Min Read

As America’s airlines get ready for the holidays, one way you can save on airfare is to get familiar with the Southwest Low Fare Calendar.

The Southwest Low Fare Calendar identifies some of the cheapest fares that you can find online.

This article is going to show you how to save money when booking airfare by using the Southwest Low Fare Calendar.

What Is The Low Care Calendar On Southwest?

Southwest Airlines is known for cheap fares, so it makes sense that they would have a low fare calendar on their website.

This tool shows you a month-by-month grid that identifies where the cheapest fares are.

To get the best results out of the low fare calendar, you can’t be set on a specific date. You’ll save more if you have flexible travel plans.

Here is a screenshot of the Southwest Low Care Calendar.

How To Use The Southwest Low Fare Calendar

To use the Southwest Low Fare Calendar, go to the page and follow these 6 steps:

    1. Fill in the Depart box
    2. Fill in the Depart Month
    3. Fill in the Arrive box
    4. Fill in the Arrive Month
    5. Fill in the number of passengers
    6. Click Search

Once you fill in your dates, you will see all the dates of the month and their fares.

For example, we put in Atlanta airfare to Los Angeles (LAX). This is what it showed:

How to get cheapest fares with Southwest Low Fare Calendar

From there, you just select the cheapest fare that works for your travel plans. Once your dates are selected, you have to choose between three class fares:

    • Business Select
    • Anytime
    • Wanna Get Away

Once your class fare is selected, you have to select a time of the day.

    Restrictions

There are some restrictions with Southwest fares that you need to know about. Here are some of the major ones.

    • Until purchased, all fares are subject to change.
    • The fares don’t apply to multiple persons (there may be only one flight left at a particular price).
    • “Unavailable” indicates the corresponding fare is unavailable for the selected dates.
    • “Sold Out” indicates that Southwest has no more seats in the particular fare type.
    • “Invalid w/ Depart or Return Dates” indicates that Southwest can’t return a valid itinerary option(s) with the search criteria submitted.

Sign Up For Southwest Rapid Rewards

One way to save on a flight is to take advantage of Southwest’s Rapid Rewards program.

With Rapid Rewards, you earn 2 points per $1 spent on Southwest and 1 point per $1 on all other purchases.

To maximize your savings, you may opt to buy your fare with cash rather than use your Rapid Rewards points

Are Southwest Fares Cheaper On Tuesdays?

The best date and time to buy a Southwest flight varies, but according to FareCompare.com, it is generally believed that Tuesday at 3 p.m. is the sweet spot.

But there’s more to finding the cheapest fare than selecting the right date and time. Make sure you purchase when sales are ongoing.

    Final Thoughts

Cheap fares can be found online, and Southwest is a great place to start.

The airline’s Low Fare Calendar is the type of basic tool that should be a starting point for a price-conscious traveler.

Atlanta Dog Treats Company Hosts Paws & Pose Event

    2 Min Read

Atlanta-based frozen dog treats company Frost Bytz recently hosted its Paws & Pose event for dogs and owners to experience a doggy runway show and special holiday photo opportunities.

The event was curated around raising money for the Georgia Homeless Pets Animal Rescue Group, a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to save, care for, and place animals into loving homes.

“Frost Bytz appreciates everyone who attended our event,” said Bakir Floyd, co-founder of Frost Bytz, an Atlanta-based company that specializes in providing frozen doggy treats. “We’re happy that we were able to provide so much joy and make an impact with organizations like the Georgia Homeless Pets Animal Rescue Group, Lifeline Animal Project, and Happy Hearts Pet Care Atlanta.”

In addition to the money that was raised, Frost Bytz contributed a check of $500 to Georgia Homeless Pets Animal Rescue Group and also gave $500 checks to both Lifeline Animal Project and Happy Hearts Pet Care Atlanta.

Hosted by Atlanta radio personality Reec (Majic 107.5) and creative directed by Marcus Blassingame, attendees experienced a doggy fashion show, where models and dogs walked down the runway with wears by fashion designer Ricardo Auguste.

Auguste is the owner of Beaut Outerwear, a custom clothing label that designs garments for both pets and pet owners.

A few of the dogs that were up for adoption also strutted down the runway in Beaut Outerwear, allowing potential new dog owners to see what they got.  Additionally, attendees were able to take part in unique photo opportunities with four handmade custom holiday sets, where pet owners posed with their dogs.

“This was the perfect event to kick off the holiday season for pet owners. We were able to not only provide them with a unique experience for their dogs, but we also were able to give back to organizations that make an impact in the pet community,” Floyd said.

Floyd also commented that the success of this event means that the company will attempt to host more unique events with the same mission, supporting organizations that help dogs in need.

  • The One Travel Hack You Should Be Careful With

    2 Min Read

Spending as little as you can on travel is a must for the budget-conscious traveler, so travel hacks are a necessity.

One of the most infamous travel hacks is the practice of skiplagging, also known as hidden city ticketing.

    What Is Skiplagging?

Skiplagging is when you buy an affordable ticket that includes one or more stops with the intention of getting off the plane during one of those times.

Some people have said that they’ve saved as much as 75% on airfare by Skiplagging, so it’s definitely something you should looking into.

    Is Skiplagging Illegal?

Skiplagging is not against the law, but it is not looked upon favorably by airlines.

Skiplagging is frowned upon by the airline industry because they end up with vacant seats while in flight.

The practice also throws off the aircraft’s capacity log. But the main reason why airlines don’t like it is because it runs afoul of many airlines’ carriage rules.

Carriage rules dictate the policies of airlines when it comes to who they can and can’t carry aboard their aircraft.

If you choose to do Skiplagging, here are some tips:

Always carry a carry-on bag only: Skiplagging doesn’t work if you check your bags because they will he brought to the final destination.

    Last Words

If Skiplagging is something you want to do to save money, know that different airlines handle it differently.

Some may try to ban you if they find out about Skiplagging. Others have been known to even try to bill you for the empty seat.

That’s why you should use Skiplagging rarely, if ever.

    Where To Sell Electronics

    4 Min Read

If you’ve got some old electronic devices that no longer work or you no longer need, you should consider selling them. Yes, that old iPod or Walkman can be sold or cash.

It’s easier than ever today to make money online by selling your used items, including electronics. The good news is your don’t have to go to the local mall to make a transaction; it can all be done online.

Before selling your electronics, remember to:

First, Wipe Your Data Off Your Device

It’s up to you to ensure all personal data is removed from the devices before selling them. The last thing you want is someone with access to your personal data because you were too lazy to erase your device.

Where To Sell Your Old Electronics

In this article, I’m going to show you where you can sell your old electronics.

There are several options for selling old electronics, depending on your preferences and the condition of the items. Here are some common avenues:

    Online Marketplaces

You already know about Amazon no doubt, but what about the tons of other online marketplaces out there that allow you to sell stuff online? Let’s take a look:

    eBay

An online auction and shopping website eBay allows you to list your electronics for sale. You get to decide whether to auction the item off to the highest bidder or set up a traditional sale with a set price.

    Facebook Marketplace

Facebook is for more than making friends, it’s also for making money. Facebook Marketplace is a platform for buying and selling items locally within your community.

In Atlanta, people are selling just about everything you can think of on the site.

    Gazelle

Gazelle.com is a website that buys used electronics, offering quotes based on the condition of the items.
Swappa: A marketplace specifically for buying and selling used electronics like smartphones and laptops.

    Craigslist

    Craigslist Atlanta

Websites like Craigslist or Gumtree allow you to list items for sale locally. Here’s how I was able to sell my iPhone on Craigslist.

    • Go to Craigslist.com and click on the “Post” button in the top right corner.
    • Choose the location (city of Atlanta, OTP East, OTP West, etc.)
    • Fill out the form explaining the posting title, description and ZIP Code.
    • A map will pop up, allowing you to add your location and cross street for reference.
    • Next it’s time to add images to your post (the more images, the better your post will likely do).
    • Now it’s time to pay $5 to $25 depending on whether it’s a service or job posting.
    craigslist listing Atlanta

You can pay via credit card or PayPal. Once payment is complete, you’ll receive an email with a link that allows you to click and publish.

    Trade-in Programs

There are many websites with trade-in programs for your electronics. Apple Trade-In and the Best Buy Trade-In programs are two of the best who make it easy.

Want to ditch an old phone? Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T are three wireless carriers that have trade-in programs where you can exchange your old electronics for store credit or a discount on a new purchase.

Aside from trade-ins, you can buy used phones in the area as well.

    Recycling Centers and Garage Sales

If your electronics are old and no longer functional, consider recycling them. Many electronic retailers and recycling centers accept old electronics for proper disposal.

You can also find buyers for your electronic items by taking advantage of community sales events like estate sales and garage sales.

To sell your old electronics directly to individuals, you can also look up local flea markets, or swap meets in your area.

    Final Word

Remember to check in with local electronics stores, as some may buy used electronics or offer trade-in programs.

When you list your old electronics for sale, make sure to provide clear and accurate descriptions of the item’s condition.

And finally, be super-cautious when meeting people for local transactions, and consider using secure payment methods for online sales to protect yourself and the buyer.
