Yard bird is second nature in Atlanta. I mean, you can find fried chicken in all four corners of metro Atlanta, NW, SW, NE, SE. But delicious fried chicken? Now, that’s another matter.
The city has made a name for itself with boneless chicken (Chick-Fil-A), chicken with bones in it (everywhere else) and even baked chicken (Picadilly). But there’s one place that knows what it’s doing when it comes to fried chicken.
Odd Bird’s Chicken Fried Steak Available April 11
On the second Wednesday of each month, West Egg Cafe hosts a pop-up concept called Odd Bird and their Chicken Fried Steak, with white gravy, waffle, rosemary syrup, is the Southern dish you need in your life.
On Wednesday, April 11, from 5:30 to 9 p.m., the Odd Bird will have the yard bird on and poppin’.
Hot chicken is having a serious moment in Atlanta. What with the entry of Gus’ Hot Chicken and Richard’s in Krog Street Market, you’d think a live spicy bird swooped to the city and made its nest. But while those restaurants are all good, Odd Bird has a captivating allure about it that is hard to match, let alone put into words.
Odd Bird is located at 1100 Howell Mill Road, Atlanta, Ga. 30318.
See you Wed, April 11, 5:30-9pm, at

A new food concept recently opened its doors in Sandy Springs — and it’s making some noise in the restaurant scene. Crafthall Kitchen is urn by Jennifer Rotondo, who served as a marketer for Tropical Smoothie Cafe, where her husband helms as CEO.
Crafthall Kitchen opened quietly Thursday, April 5, according to news reports. The location is spread out in a 1,600 square-foot space.
Now Open In Sandy Springs: Crafthall Kitchen
The restaurant is a food hall-like space, where customers can choose from four different concepts under one roof. This is how the restaurant itself puts it:
You have four different brands to choose from when ordering from Crafthall Kitchen…something for everyone! We want everyone to be able to enjoy great flavorful food so most of our items are free from gluten, we have plenty of vegetarian options or if you eat a protein-rich diet we have a variety of freshly roasted meats! Allow Crafthall Kitchen to to help you cater your next event!
One of the brands, Salt & Pfeffer, features breakfast-style food any time of the day. Brunch fare includes staples like hash bowls, grit bowls and topped waffles.
Another brand at Crafthall Kitchen is Foul & Scratch, which from its name, sounds like some serious yard bird. The eatery bills it as gourmet chicken in the tradition of Southern tradition. Other downhome offerings are chicken tenders and scratchmade sides.
Yet another brand is Bowl Cookhouse, the healthy option at Crafthall Kitchen. Featuring a bowl of protein accompanied with wholesome fresh roasted veggies and toppings, the theme here is flavor + the necessary nutrients.
And finally, the colorfully named Urban Sammie gives the food-truck set something to love. The influences pull from bustling city streets and the global street food scene. This is where you indulge in soups and sandwiches.
Crafthall Kitchen is located at 1165 Perimeter Center West, Ste 303, Atlanta, GA 30346.
Food halls are the dining craze de jour in the city. After the success of Ponce City Market, which has helped to revitalize the lower Ponce de Leon corridor, developers are looking for old warehouse-like structures to rehabilitate.

Atlanta is one of two cities getting a female-focused coworking space, AtlantaFi has learned. The creative, spa-inspired workspace is being brought to the city by business accelerator Hera Hub.
The space will cater to women across several industries including high-tech, business operations, legal advisors, and tax professionals to artists, designers, educators, and creative experts.
Women’s Coworking Space Opening In Atlanta
Those that use the space can expect weekly educational seminars, intensive workshops, and one-on-one mentoring . Although the coworking space was designed by women, for women, it is open to anyone who values collaboration and community.
Another one is also opening up in Phoenix, Arizona. The Hera Hub Atlanta location will be led by Violet E. Pearson, who has lived in the city for more than 12 years.
“Atlanta is perfectly poised for the Hera Hub business model. While the city has made great inroads into creating a welcoming business environment for women entrepreneurs, there is much to be done. Our aim is to facilitate networking and collaboration among our members and to galvanize and support female-focused businesses through strategic and sustainable growth,” says Pearson.
