Soon to be visible from the West Midtown Atlanta skyline is the Ford Atlanta Research and Innovation Center (FARIC), a facility designed to advance the Ford Motor Company’s digital imprint and tap into the city’s rich tech workforce.
FARIC joins a network of Ford research and development facilities in other places such as Tel Aviv and Palo Alto dedicated to disciplines like software-led connected vehicles, artificial intelligence, university research and more.
Ford To Build FARIC Workspace In Atlanta
“Ford is transitioning from a traditional automotive company to a digital products and services company driven by software innovation,” Jim Buczkowski, executive director for Ford Research, Advanced Engineering, said in a news release. “There’s a high demand for tech talent across industries, and we have an opportunity to create non-traditional career pathways to attract and develop the expertise needed to stay competitive.”
At the workspace and elsewhere within the company, Ford will use Atlanta’s place as a tech hub to lean into attracting and retaining historically underrepresented talent, especially in the software engineering and high technology fields.
“Atlanta continues to attract and grow tech companies and startups; and we continue to attract a desirable talent base — particularly for Black tech talent. We look forward to this partnership with the Ford Atlanta Research and Innovation Center, which has the potential to help us grow an even more robust and diverse pipeline,” said Mayor Andre Dickens.
Aside from serving as an innovation hub and delivering software solutions, the FARIC team will also focus on increasing Black, Hispanic and female representation in software engineering and high technology careers. Strategies include:
- Leveraging relationships with regional Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and The Atlanta University Center Consortium to help make high-tech career opportunities more available to diverse students
- Continuing to create and deepen relationships with regional colleges and universities, including HBCUs and Hispanic Service Institutions, to conduct pioneering research and address Ford’s growing need for the new competencies required for electrification, connected vehicles and software engineering that are revolutionizing Ford products, technologies and services
- Creating flexible, non-traditional career pathways for people interested in pursuing software and high-tech careers, including co-ops, internships, part-time work, and non-degree software programs in collaboration with Atlanta-based TechBridge and community partner City of Refuge
Where Is The Ford Workspace Located In Atlanta?
The Ford workspace will be located within the new 8West development on Atlanta’s Upper West Side (889 Howell Mill Road NW). Here’s a map to help you find it.
The 24,000-square-foot FARIC space is designed to surpass standard ADA compliance with an intentional, accessible layout that supports inclusion, flexibility, collaboration and innovation.
Final Word
“Underrepresentation is a significant issue in software and engineering industries, especially when it comes to Black and Hispanic communities, which makes it particularly exciting to work with local colleges, universities and nonprofits to help bring greater diversity into the tech space,” said Doron Elliott, senior manager of Ford In-Vehicle Infotainment, who will also oversee FARIC operations. “Building this critical talent base will enable Ford to continue to find innovative and efficient ways to develop cutting-edge products and services to meet the demands of a very diverse customer base.”

No celebrity consistently kills it in the body department like Beyoncé. What’s her secret?
The best entertainer over the last two decades has managed to keep a nicely sculptured body like nobody else. How does she do it?
The Category Is Body. Beyoncé body
Getting a body like Beyoncé is not about gaining a “figure 8” physique or impossibly thin waist. It’s more about being able to maintain a shape that works for you — and feeling good about it.
The bottom line is that Beyoncé’s body has been an aspiration for more than two generations of girls and into their womanhood. And you may want to know…
How Can I Get A Beyoncé Body?
If you want to get that Bey body, the first thing you should know is that it’s not easy, not even for Queen Bey.
“I am not naturally the thinnest woman,” she told Good Morning America. “I have curves. I have struggled with diets and finding something that works for me.”
Perhaps you can relate. Also, like Beyoncé you may be someone who’s had a child — or three. If so, then that’s pretty amazing that you want to get your body tight, but you should also know that you’re beautiful in your own right.
It’s OK to reaffirm yourself to get your confidence up. Even Beyoncé had to come to terms with her body at some point.
She wrote a first-person piece for Vogue lamenting how through her career she capitulated to the world’s standards of how her body should look, but never again.“After the birth of my first child, I believed in the things society said about how my body should look,” she wrote in Vogue. Now let’s get started: Here are three strategies you should put in place to achieve that Beyoncé body.1. Adopt Beyoncé’s Workout Routine
To get Beyoncé’s body, you’re going to have to spend some time in the gym. But how? What does a Beyoncé workout consist of?
In the Vogue interview, Beyoncé says that she has the ability to get her body right by going into “beast mode.”“Whenever I’m ready to get a six-pack, I will go into beast zone and work my ___ off until I have it,” she said. But what does Beyoncé’s beast mode consist of? According to her longtime trainer, here’s what the singer has done to get her body toned.- Boxing
- Swinging weighted ropes
- Lifting free weights
- Dancing
“I’ll put on a song that I really like and do [biceps curls with] five-pound weights [for] the whole song and just try to burn out,” she told Self Magazine.Invest In Some Free Weights
You might want to think about investing in some free weights to build muscle and tone along with your workouts. Here are some free weight options from Amazon:Beyoncé’ says she’s always wanted to become more healthy. As a result, working out became a priority. One way Beyoncé’ has developed her tight gluts is by doing the kettle bell squat-and-press, which her trainer says that it’s an “exercise that hits all the major muscles. If you did nothing else, you’d still get a great workout,” he told Self. The kettle bell squat and press is popular with celebrities, by the way.And don’t think Beyoncé doesn’t get tired and want to quit. Her trainer told Glamour UK, “You run out of gas fast; by pushing through [that fatigue], you develop a ton of endurance.”2. Start Beyoncé’s Plant-Based Diet
To get ready for Coachella, Beyoncé recorded her diet regimen in a video called “22 Days Nutrition.” Mind you, this was right after she’d just gave birth to twins. In the clip, she starts off by saying: “Good morning, it’s 5 a.m., and this is day one of rehearsals for Coachella.” The scale below her reads 175 pounds. “Every woman’s nightmare,” she then says. You may be wondering what is the”22 Days Nutrition?” It’s a diet program created and promoted by Beyonce’s trainer Marco Borges. His 22 Days Nutrition Plan is all about getting people to enjoy a plant-based lifestyle on their own terms. Here’s what Beyoncé’s diet regimen:- Removing all processed foods from her diet
- A 100% plant-based lifestyle
- A regular exercise routine
- Plenty of rest
Here are some great dishes and recipes from Borges’ 22 Days Nutrition Plan, which Beyoncé followed to lose weight.

- 2 tbsp avocado oil
- 1 tsp baking powder

Mix all ingredients in a bowl and make 4 big waffles.
“Me getting the weight off was so much easier than getting back in shape and my body feeling comfortable,” she says in the video. If you’re thinking about adopting a similar food plan, get your mind right: Instead of 22 days, Beyoncé followed the diet for 44 days. That means you’re going to have to get serious! In the Homecoming documentary on Netflix, Beyoncé says that, ““In order to meet my goal, I’m limiting myself to no bread, no carbs, no dairy, no meat, no fish, no alcohol. And I’m hungry.”Be Balanced With Your Health
Like any sensible person, Beyoncé makes sure not to overdo it, which would expose her to burn out and perhaps sour her on bettering her body.If you want to achieve results and be encouraged by them, remember, you’re not a machine. It’s OK to have a cheat day.“I always treat myself to one meal on Sundays when I can have whatever I want. Usually it’s pizza, which is my favorite indulgence,” she told Shape magazine in 2013.Another thing, she no longer does is try to please everybody.“I put pressure on myself to lose all the baby weight in three months, and scheduled a small tour to assure I would do it. Looking back, that was crazy.”“During my recovery, I gave myself self-love and self-care, and I embraced being curvier. I accepted what my body wanted to be,” she said in Vogue.Bottom Line
To sum it all up, getting a body like Beyoncé is not an easy feat. For most of us, it’s going to take some lifestyle changes and determination. Take it from Bey!“You have to push yourself,” she told Self magazine. “It doesn’t matter what trainer you have. And it doesn’t matter what program you’re on. You have to be healthy and make the right choices.”

A who’s who of influential Atlantans converged on a palatial estate in Fairburn, Georgia recently to attend the final day of the 2022 fifth Annual Atlanta Fashion & Polo Classic. The star-studded three-day event concluded on a sunny Sunday afternoon about 15 minutes south of Atlanta.
Notable attendees included Sheree Whitfield (RHOA), Martell Holt ( Love & Marriage Huntsville), Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson (HGTV’s Married to Real Estate), Frank Ski (KISS 104.1), Guy Lambert (FOX 5 DC) Tony Terry, Pastor Troy, Toccara Jones (America’s Next Top Model), Dr. Kevin James (president of Morris Brown College), and more.
Sponsored by Bentley Atlanta and the Corbett Group, the Atlanta Fashion & Polo Classic featured three days of food, drinks, live music, fashion, cigars, and equestrian exhibitions, which took place in the form of the “Black Tie Experience”, “Polo & Pumps Brunch and Day Party”, “Cocktails and Cigars Under the Stars” and the Annual Atlanta Fashion & Polo Classic.
“I’m so appreciative of everyone who showed up and showed out this year,” said Miguel Wilson, founder of the Atlanta Fashion & Polo Classic. “With this being our fifth year, it’s safe to say that we’re no longer the new kids on the block, but now a staple in the community. This is demonstrated by the many people who attend every year, especially those who buy their tickets months in advance and those who travel from other states.”
One of the more unique aspects of this event is that it features Black fashion designers, emerging and established. It gives these designers a platform to showcase the quality of their work. It also provides a space for Black vendors who make luxury goods which includes jewelry, spirits, cigars, helicopters, and more.

Photo credit: Phil Jackson The Atlanta Fashion & Polo Classic serves as the biggest fundraising event for the Ride to the Olympics Foundation, a non-profit organization that aims to provide support to kids who desire to pursue equestrian activities; especially those who normally wouldn’t have the opportunity due to socio-economic obstacles. All proceeds from the 5th Atlanta Fashion & Polo Classic will go towards the Ride to the Olympics Foundation.

Photo credit: Paul Biagui “With all of the events that we put on during this weekend and all of the vendors and fashion designers that we showcase, all black-owned might I add, it’s easy to forget that this is a fundraising event. Our goal is to raise money for the Ride to the Olympics Foundation so that we can continue to provide equestrian experiences to the youth, create more all-Black polo teams, and create more polo teams at HBCUs. And ultimately, we want to send a Black person to the Olympics to compete in equestrian sports, which has never been done,” Wilson said.

Atlanta rapper Lil Nas X has been tapped to star in a film from Coach for the launch of their Courage to Be Real branch.
In creating the film, Coach is aiming to encourage courageous self-expression. In enlisting Lil Nas X, the brand’s Courage to Be Real film drills down on its message about embracing all aspects of who you are with confidence—and inspiring others to express themselves authentically, too.
“My vision for Coach has always been to create a fashion world where people feel free to express themselves as they are,” said Coach Creative Director Stuart Vevers. “To bring this vision to life, I was thrilled to bring Lil Nas X and Petra Collins together with Coach for the first time—two artists who have changed the world around them by being themselves. Lil Nas X, Coach’s newest global ambassador, said that the campaign spoke to him because of its fearlessness.
“My whole career has been about breaking down doors, and this campaign represents everything I’ve overcome so far,” said Lil Nas X. “It’s about walking into new chapters of life, new experiences and new versions of myself, and it’s rooted in authenticity and self-expression—two things I really care about.
