CDC: Most Americans Can Stop Wearing Indoor Masks

    3 Min Read

Most Americans can safely stop wearing masks, the Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control & Prevention says in new guidelines.

The latest guidance from the CDC flies in the face of what the agency has been saying over the past two years in the COVID-19 pandemic.

The agency’s new rules come as they roll out the COVID-19 Community Levels, which decide what prevention steps to take based on the latest data.

Levels can be low, medium, or high and are determined by looking at hospital beds being used, hospital admissions, and the total number of new COVID-19 cases in an area.

Do I Still Need To Wear A Mask When Out In Atlanta, Georgia?

Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens follower the Cdc’s lead, dropping indor mandates that governed mask use inside government buildings abd facilities.

Advances in life-saving vaccines, downward trends in cases and—most importantly—the vigilance and resilience of the Atlanta community have all brought us to this new space of hope,” Dickens said in a news release.

“As we continue to rely on data and science, Atlanta remains forever grateful for our public health professionals, our healthcare workers and our frontline workers who continue to give their all so that we may begin this optimistic path toward our new normal.” He said.

Months ago, the CDC along with the City of Atlanta had released guidance advocating that masks be worn indoors as well as outdoors in crowded areas.

Gov. Brian Kemp has passed laws that ban a mask mandate, so the local restrictions are limited in how far they apply.

Earlier in the year, the CDC caused controversy when it came out with the following guidance:

“Fully vaccinated people can resume activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance,” the CDC’s guidance says.

But that’s no longer the case, especially as COVID numbers continue to plummet around the country.

    Final Word

Take precautions to protect yourself and others from COVID-19 based on the COVID-19 Community Level in your area.

If you are at high risk for severe illness, talk to your healthcare provider about whether you need to wear a mask and take other precautions.

    2 Min Read

The World Champion Atlanta Braves pulled in $104 million in 2021, according to a new financial report.

The news comes from Liberty Media, which owns the ballclub. Figures from the company’s 2021 financial reports show that Braves revenue skyrocketed on the way to their Major League Baseball title.

Atlanta Braves Made $104 Million Last Year

Here’s what the company accomplished in a banner year:

“It was a strong end to 2021 for the Liberty companies. The finish to the Formula 1 World Championship could not have been more suspenseful. The compelling action on the track continues to power the business’s flywheel and we recently made numerous announcements around value-creating agreements. SiriusXM hit record revenue and adjusted EBITDA levels and announced a $1 billion special dividend. The Atlanta Braves are still basking in the glory of their World Series title. Live Nation benefited from incredible fan demand in the back half of the year and all leading indicators point to record performance in 2022,” said Greg Maffei, Liberty Media President and CEO. “We enter this year energized and excited for the next areas of growth across the board.”

With the type of money the Braves have generated, the big question is first baseman Freddie Freeman is a free agent. Will they go all in to re-sign him?

    Only time will tell.

How To Keep More Of Your Gas Money

Now let’s go over some ways to save gas money in Atlanta:

    Use Less Expensive Gas

If your car can stand it, use a lower grade of gasoline. Many cars can perform just as well if they use gas that isn’t premium.
At the same time, if your car’s manual recommends premium petrol, that’s what you need to use in your car.

    Keep Your Tires Properly Inflated

When your tires don’t have enough air, it throws off your fuel economy, which wastes your gas.

Some of the best food in Atlanta is of the Southern variety, but with so many transplants from the islands, the metro area has gained a reputation for Caribbean food.

Atlanta is having a restaurant renaissance. Hot chicken is the rage in Atlanta’s dining scene right now. But so are chicken and waffles.
Fast-casual is also the dining trend du jour around metro Atlanta restaurants. The concept involves mixing the quick accessibility of fast food with the casual dining experience. Food in Atlanta is also adapting to the various tastes of the migrants that come here to live.

Patrons typically order off a menu board like they would at a burger joint, but the convenience of sitting down to leisurely enjoy their food has made the segment a popular one with the restaurant industry. The craze hasn’t escaped metro Atlanta’s food and drink scene, which has seen a fast-caz explosion in recent years.
