And yes I’ve received the wrong order,, but the waitress immediately corrected my order. My favorite is their Red Velet Chicken & Waffles…I suggest that you try the Fried Catfish! The service is great, but can’t expect the wait staff to be at your beckoning call in a crowded restaurant! The atmosphere is exactly what you’d expect at a restaurant lounge! Remember you get what you give…I get great service because I respect what the wait staff have to do & I tip well for good service! Read the reviews, but decide for yourself!”Chicken+Beer
6000 N Terminal Pkwy, Atlanta, GA 30320 | (404) 209-3905Tucked inside Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, Chicken+Beer has some great chicken and waffles. Here’s what one reviewer says about Chicken+Beer. “Even though the walk to this restaurant was a little long it made getting that extra bit of chicken, waffles and biscuits even better.
It is even more awesome that they offer many flights of beer and we took that opportunity to try some local favorites. We tried some local Atlanta brews and each one of them was a treat of its own. Our favorite was sweet water brewery. We loved the chicken and waffles meal and we love just the fried chicken. Everything tasted moist and delicious and the service was impeccable. Our waiter really showed a sense of Southern pride when we were ordering and made sure to ask us where we were traveling to.”

Hattie B’s Hot Chicken is one of Atlanta’s best spots for hot chicken, but it also serves waffles.
Here’s what one reviewer says about Hattie B’s Hot Chicken. “Oh so yummies! I could have just had the waffles and been palatably pleased. I also had the chicken sandwich. Listed as “hot” chicken sandwich, I requested “mild”. Had I not had the forethought, there is no way that I would have been able to eat the sandwich, as I even had to drink the chicken pieces into the blue cheese to eat it. Heat is an understatement. The coleslaw, which comes on the chicken sandwich was a bit too vinegary for my taste but wasn’t completely off putting. I would get the sandwich again, as well as recommend it to others. Just get an extra lemonade to wash it down. Drink sizes are on the smaller scale.
Helen’s Hot Chicken
200 Edgewood Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30303 | (404) 731-3369
Helen’s Hot Chicken on Edgewood also has some great chicken and waffles.
Here’s what one reviewer says about Helen’s Hot Chicken. “Excellent excellent food!!!!! An instagram food blogger featured this restaurant on his page and it looked amazing. I don’t live near this establishment so I had to wait for the right opportunity to make the trip to the city. Boy am I glad I did! This lace did not disappoint! I ordered their chicken sandwich which was AMAZING!!!! My cousin ordered the chicken and waffles. Can, we just take a moment to talk about how good the waffle was?!?!? Their waffle was so yummy with a nice chew that it put all other waffles to shame! I highly recommend trying this place, even if you don’t live near the city it’s worth the drive! I demolished the sandwich without getting the chance to take a pic. But I screen shot my cousins video of his food.”

3725 Main St, Atlanta, GA 30337 | (404) 748-4244

We had the red velvet waffle, Nashville hot chicken sandwich with waffle fries, & the Fab 4 (eggs, bacon, potatoes, & waffle). I’m sorry I have no pictures but we were starving once the food came out! I will definitely go again to try the salmon & lamb chops served after 4pm.”

With rising food prices everywhere, it’s hard to beat a free food forest. That’s exactly what Atlanta, Georgia has going for it. Do you know where the Atlanta food forest is and what’s in it?
This article will tell you everything you need to know about Atlanta’s food forest.
If you’re thinking about visiting the endeavor sometime soon, here’s everything you need to know.
Everything You Need To Know About Atlanta’s Food Forest
With food insecurity seen as a growing threat to America’s kitchens, a food forest comes at a crucial time. But why now? And why Atlanta?
It all began to grow roots in 2016. That’s when the Atlanta Mayor’s Office requested federal funding to address food deserts in the city’s most vulnerable neighborhoods. A seven-acre plot of land was found in southeast Atlanta.
When Atlanta’s City Council passed a resolution approving the nation’s first food forest, many critics scratched their heads thinking it wouldn’t work. An Atlanta food forest? No way, they said.
Indeed, the city is used to enormous plans shriveling up due to less than stellar community support or political infighting. But this time, it was different.
Atlanta Food Forest: A History
The 7-acre plot used to be owned by the Morgans, a couple who farmed the land. In 2016, the Conservation Fund bought the property.
Vast swaths of Atlanta were deemed “food deserts,” which meant that they were underserved when it came to affordable and sustainable foods. This was not only an economic problem, but a health issue and social dilemma.
What Is A Food Desert?
The government defines a food desert as low-income communities located more than 1 mile from fresh fruits and vegetables. Fast food restaurants don’t count.
What was happening in Atlanta’s Lakewood-Browns Mill community met all the definitions of a food desert. Also, more than 60% of the residents there lived below the poverty line.
The lack of grocery stores in the most needy areas of Atlanta also contributed to the problem. Thus, Atlanta officials were pushed to support a food forest that would continue to grow and feed the city’s impoverished communities.
So basically, the city’s nonstop development has forced the hands of city planners to come up with a way to feed thousands of community residents stuck in food desserts around the city.
Is The Food At The Atlanta Food Forest Free?
One of the biggest questions you may have is whether the food at the Atlanta food forest is free. A more appropriate question is “Is the food ready for harvest?”
The project has come to fruition thanks to a grant from the U.S Forest Service’s Community Forest Program.
Fruit-bearing trees, herbs and other crops have been planted continuously over the last year, much of it by local schoolchildren. Much of the food is available for foraging by Atlanta residents for free.
With that being said, there is an orderly arrangement that you must adhere to in order to take part in the harvest.
Who Can Harvest At Atlanta’s Food Forest?
Anybody can harvest at Atlanta’s food forest, but there is a hierarchy that you must follow. This is how the arrangement operates:
- Participating neighbors get first dibs on harvested crops, You can become a participating neighbor by emailing BrownsMillCommunityGarden@gmail.com.
- Volunteers take part in the harvest every Wednesday and second Saturday
- Finally, Atlanta residents can harvest at the “Community Harvest Table”
Where Is The Atlanta Food Forest Located?
The city’s urban forest is actually situated atop City of Atlanta parkland in the southwest portion of the city. The Atlanta food forest is located at 2217 Browns Mill Road, Atlanta, GA. 30315. Here’s a map to help you find the spot.
What Kinds Of Food Are Available In Atlanta’s Food Forest?
The Atlanta food forest grows a variety of fresh produce, including fruits, nuts, vegetables, herbs, and mushrooms. All of the bounty will be available for public consumption.

Atlanta’s place as a mecca of black-owned food spaces continues to grow across the metro area. Next up is The Hall at Ashford Lane, a food hall, planned for Dunwoody.
The Hall at Ashford Lane is set to open its much-anticipated food hall this week in Dunwoody. Guests can look forward to nine food stalls along with multiple full-service options.
Spanning 17,000 square feet, The Hall at Ashford Lane boasts an expansive bar stocked with a curated wine list, craft beers and handcrafted cocktails. The bar is already being called “the biggest bar in Georgia.”
Dunwoody Food Hall Set To Open
Ashford Lane is a new mixed-use complex that features restaurants, retail, offices and residences all at its Perimeter Place location. JLL, a real estate company, is heading the design.
Jamal Wilson is the mastermind behind the new food hall and event space concept, which will be spread across 17,000 square feet and feature 10 restaurants.
Wilson has previously opened food halls in Orlando and Tampa and is set to debut another one in New Orleans this fall.
At The Hall at Ashford Lane, Wilson is looking for restaurants that can keep up in a food hall-style environment.
“Can the chef handle the volume?” Wilson told The Atlanta Business Chronicle. “Are they used to working with a community of other chefs? We look at a person more for their technical expertise than for a specific type of cuisine.”
When Will The Hall At Ashford Lane Open?
Wilson is reportedly projecting a November 2022 opening for The Hall at Ashford Lane, but he’s a busy man.
His hands are also full with another local food hall, The Grove, which will be built in Snellville. The Grove will be a 19,000 square food food hall and event space with 12 restaurants.
Guests who drive to the structure will find a state-of-the-art 300-unit parking garage for their vehicle.
“We are thrilled to bring the first food hall to Dunwoody,” Wilson said in a written statement. “Our mission is to create a vibrant and inclusive space where people can come together to savor exceptional food, enjoy refreshing beverages, and celebrate life’s moments. We are excited to welcome the community to experience the wide range of culinary offerings and the unmatched ambiance that The Hall at Ashford Lane has to offer.”
Where Will The Hall At Ashford Lane Be Located?
The Hall at Ashford Lane will be located at 4550 Olde Perimeter Way, Atlanta, GA 30346. Here’s a map to help you find it.
Final Word
The Hall at Ashford Lane is Dunwoody’s first full-service food hall, offering private and semi-private events in one of metro Atlanta’s most thriving cities.
There is a lot of exciting news happening in Atlanta when it comes to its restaurant scene. What’s especially exciting are the many food halls joining the pack.

End of an era. The Chick-fil-A inside Greenbriar Mall is shutting its doors for good. The restaurant has set its last day for Saturday, May 202, 2023.
After that, to get a great chicken sandwich in Atlanta, you’re going to have to go elsewhere. The Greenbriar location is tied to Atlanta history as well as that of the famous eatery.
Chick-fil-A’s History In Atlanta
Chick-fil-A burst on the scene when S. Truett Cathy, a scrappy entrepreneur with an affinity for chicken breast, opened a small eatery in 1967 in Greenbriar Mall. The restaurant drew steady crowds for its boneless chicken breast served on a toasted, buttery bun with two pickle chips.
A few miles away, Truett’s brother, Ben, opened an Atlanta diner known as The Dwarf Grill (later renamed The Dwarf House) in Hapeville, Georgia, just outside Atlanta.
Since those early years, Chick-fil-A has grown into one of the best fast-food restaurants in America. It has always maintained its Greenbriar outpost, but that is no longer the case.
A Twitter user shared a sign posted outside the restaurant in Greenbriar in southwest Atlanta.
Greenbriar Mall Chick-Fil-A is DEFINITELY closing.
The mall will basically be a Rainbow, sneakers and jewelry stores. Basically an indoor flea market.

A recent report from Nearmap, a location intelligence and aerial imagery company, shows the Top 25 Leafiest Capital Cities in America.
What Are Cities With The Most Trees And Leaves?
Atlanta makes the top five in the list, which highlights the country’s top 25 leafiest capital cities.
In Georgia’s largest city, which has been called the “city in a forest,” one reason why it can be compared more “leafy” than most is the region’s tree canopy.
It’s another reason why Atlanta has some of the best parks in the Southeast.
The results of the study were compiled through Nearmap’s proprietary aerial imagery technology and location data from its Nearmap AI platform.
The report identified the top 25 leafiest capital cities and their percentage of total residential tree coverage as:
- Charleston, West Virginia (74.7%)
- Tallahassee, Florida (56.1%)
- Little Rock, Arkansas (54.9%)
- Raleigh, North Carolina (54.7%)
- Nashville, Tennessee (53.5%)
- Atlanta, Georgia (53.1%)
- Annapolis, Maryland (51.0%)
- Concord, New Hampshire (49.2%)
- Jackson, Mississippi (47.5%)
- Augusta, Maine (46.3%)
- Jefferson City, Missouri (43.3%)
- Austin, Texas (43.2%)
- Olympia, Washington (42.9%)
- Columbia, South Carolina (40.1%)
- Richmond, Virginia (39.9%)
- Albany, New York (39.1%)
- Montgomery, Alabama (34.9%)
- Baton Rouge, Louisiana (34.1%)
- St. Paul, Minnesota (33.2%)
- Des Moines, Iowa (31.4%)
- Topeka, Kansas (30.6%)
- Indianapolis City, Indiana (29.5%)
- Springfield, Illinois (27.7%)
- Frankfort, Kentucky (26.3%)
- Columbus, Ohio (26.1%)
Final Word

With the weather being so nice day in and day out, you may want to get on the water this weekend. Boating is a lot of fun, but it can be dangerous if you’re not careful.
This article will go over some boating safety tips to protect yourself while on the water.
How To Be Safe While Boating
If you’re looking for cool things to do, boating can be a fun and enjoyable activity, but it is important to prioritize safety to prevent accidents and injuries. Here are some tips on how to be safe in a boat:
First, Check the Weather
No matter if you plan to head to Lake Lanier or another body of water in Georgia, it’s always a good idea to use caution in bad weather. Avoid boating in bad weather conditions, and be aware of changing weather conditions while on the water. Thunderstorms, high winds, and other weather conditions can create dangerous boating conditions.
Take Safety Precautions In Stormy Weather
If you’re boating in stormy weather, the safety precaution that should be taken first by a boat operator is to ensure that all passengers on board are wearing their life jackets. Stormy weather can create rough and unpredictable water conditions, increasing the risk of accidents and injuries, and wearing a life jacket can significantly increase the chances of survival in case of an emergency.
Be Aware Of Your Surroundings
Keep a lookout for other boats, swimmers, and obstacles in the water. Stay alert and aware of your surroundings at all times.
Wear A Life Jacket
Always wear a properly fitting life jacket when boating. In the event of an accident or emergency, a life jacket can save your life. Here are some life jackets for sale:
Airhead Trend Life Jacket, Coast Guard Approved
Mens Neoprene Wakesurf Comp Vest
Follow Boating Regulations
Be familiar with boating regulations in your area and follow them at all times. This includes speed limits, no-wake zones, and other boating rules.
Don’t Drink And Boat
Boating under the influence of alcohol or drugs is illegal and dangerous. Alcohol can impair judgment, reaction time, and balance, increasing the risk of accidents and injuries.
In Georgia, drinking in boating runs afoul of the state’s Boat Safety Act, which strictly outlaws anyone from boating under the influence (BUI) — “that is, operating any boat, sailboat, personal watercraft, water skis, sailboard or similar device while intoxicated,” the statute says.
Check Your Equipment
Before heading out on the water, make sure that all your boat’s equipment is in good working condition. This includes lights, horns, life jackets, fire extinguishers, and other safety equipment.
If you find any gear that’s not up to snuff, don’t hesitate to go back to the shore to get it checked out. The last thing you need is defective equipment in a boat.
Final Word
Before operating a boat, many state-regulated lakes and rivers will require that you take a boating safety course. You should do this to learn about safe boating practices and regulations. Many states require boaters to complete a safety course before operating a boat.
By following these tips and practicing safe boating habits, you can help ensure a fun and enjoyable boating experience while reducing the risk of accidents and injuries.
