List: Events Canceled, Postponed in Atlanta Due To Hurricane Isaias

    4 Min Read

Hurricane Isaias has forced widespread cancellations and postponements of events across metro Atlanta this weekend (October 10–11, 2026), as the system’s remnants bring heavy rain, gusty winds, flooding risks, and possible tornadoes to north Georgia.

The storm made landfall Friday night near Destin, Florida, as a Category 2 hurricane before weakening into a post-tropical cyclone while moving inland over Alabama. Forecasts called for 2–4 inches of rain (with higher localized totals possible), wind gusts of 30–50 mph, flash flooding, downed trees, power outages, and an elevated tornado threat, especially southeast of I-85.

A high wind warning and flood watch were in effect for much of the region through early Sunday, and Georgia was under a statewide emergency declaration. By Saturday morning, tens of thousands of power outages had already been reported statewide, with significant impacts in Fulton, DeKalb, and surrounding counties.

Organizers prioritized safety for attendees, volunteers, performers, and staff amid the hazardous conditions expected to peak Saturday.

Major Festival, Concert, and Community Event Changes

Atlanta Pride canceled all Saturday festival programming in Piedmont Park. Sunday festival activities and the Pride Parade were still expected to proceed, weather and safety permitting; Saturday-only Premium Passes would be honored on Sunday. Personal tents were restricted due to wind concerns, and attendees were advised to monitor updates.

    Other notable impacts include:

    • Chalktoberfest in Marietta (chalk art and craft beer festival) was fully canceled. Organizers noted it was the first time in the event’s history that weather forced such a decision; they hoped for a strong return in 2027.
    • The Mayor’s 5K on the 5th Runway at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport was postponed (new date pending).
    • Fulton County’s Mighty 6 Cleared for Takeoff Domestic Violence 5K was canceled.
    • The American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Atlantic Station was canceled or rescheduled.
    • A Jo Dee Messina concert at GreyStone Amphitheater in Douglasville was canceled and will not be rescheduled.0
    • The Atlanta Turkish Food Festival (Alpharetta) was postponed (new date to be announced). The Atlanta Arab Festival was moved to November 7–8.
    • Atlanta Fair delayed its grand opening to Sunday, October 11.
    • Additional cancellations or postponements hit events including Lilburn Daze, Canton Multicultural Festival, Sweet Auburn BBQ & Bluegrass Festival (McDonough), Festival on Ponce (Saturday canceled; Sunday still planned with limitations), Wire & Wood Songwriters Festival (Saturday canceled), Woofstock (Fayetteville), Cryptid Creatives Halloween Market, and various farmers markets, car shows, and community gatherings.

SpelHouse homecoming activities tied to Morehouse College and Spelman College, including the football game and tailgates, were shifted to Sunday.

    Schools, Parks, and Public Facilities

Atlanta Public Schools canceled all school-based, district-wide, extracurricular, and athletic activities for Saturday. Similar Saturday cancellations applied in Cobb County, DeKalb County, Fulton County, and other districts. City of Atlanta Department of Parks and Recreation closed facilities (including recreation centers, aquatics, and golf) on Saturday and canceled youth football, cheer, recreation programs, and Movies in the Park. Sunday programming was generally expected to resume if conditions allowed. Some library branches, animal shelters, and Stone Mountain Park also closed for Saturday.

    Events Still Proceeding or Modified

The Atlanta Pride Parade and Sunday festival activities remained on the schedule (subject to weather). The Georgia Apple Festival in Ellijay continued as planned. Some other outdoor events adjusted by moving indoors, limiting activities, or monitoring conditions closely. Atlanta United’s match against FC Cincinnati was set to proceed, with outdoor activities relocated or canceled.

City leaders activated emergency shelters for unhoused residents, enhanced staffing for public safety and utilities, and urged residents to monitor official alerts (including NotifyATL), avoid unnecessary travel, and check directly with event organizers for the latest status. Power outages, fallen trees, and localized flooding were already occurring by Saturday morning as the remnants of Isaias moved through the region.1

Conditions were expected to improve later Sunday into the start of the work week. For the most current updates on specific events, power, or weather, consult local news outlets, the National Weather Service, Georgia Emergency Management, or the organizers themselves. Stay safe.
