How To Take Care Of Yourself In The Pandemic

    4 Min Read

You may be having a difficult time in the coronavirus pandemic. It’s understandable because so many people are dying and there’s so much confusion.

Self care is a billion-dollar business today, but you can follow the steps here for free with little effort to reap some big benefits.

    What Is Self-Care?

A lot of people have different opinions on what self care is and isn’t. Self care is whatever activity, routine or recreation you do that helps you cope with the world.

Self care involves four aspects, including our:

    • Mental Well-Being
    • Physical Well-Being
    • Emotional Well-Being
    • Spiritual Well-Being

The key is to not let anxiety rule our lives. Let’s get into some ways to cope with it for our self care:

Self Care: 5 Steps To Follow Every Day

But you can take comfort in the fact that you have total control over your actions and your emotions. This article is going to show you some helpful steps you can take for self care in the COVID-19 pandemic.

    1. Take A Walk Or Jog

One of the best ways to exercise your body is to get out and walk or job. While the workouts are similar, both carry out the purpose of exposing you to new sights and sounds and working out your body.

Walking or jogging is self care because it allows you to incorporate exercise into your routine with minimal effort.

    2; Read A Book

You don’t need to read a paperback book, but you do need to read something on a regular basis. Cognitive skills diminish if you’re not contributing challenging communications into your mind on the regular, perhaps daily.

Here Are 5 Books That Make For Excellent Reading:

    3. Make Some Food

Make food, i.e. cook something. Not only is this therapeutic, but it’s a healthy aspect of our self care.

You can cook some great dishes that you already know or look up the latest recipe of one of your favorite dishes.

    Talk To Your Loved Ones

Every day it’s important to connect to those who love you and are in your corner. These could be people from your past or those who are a part of your life now. Here are some ways you can communicate to them now:

    • Talk
    • Call
    • Text
    • Write A Letter

    4. Take A Road Trip

Looking for an in-state excursion? Georgia has many oases across the red clay. Here are some things you can do on a weekend:

    5. Get Proper Rest

One of the most underrated keys to proper self care is adequate rest. If you can’t get eight hours of sleep a night, it’s not like you can’t function, but you will find that your energy is not where it should be.

It’s so important to get some rest that it may determine your mental state through the week. It’s good to go to sleep before midnight for optimum rest, but of course that depends on your lifestyle.

    Last Words

If your’e serious about self care, you need to gravitate toward positivity and things that make you happy. This could be a comedy club or a top TV show. Whatever it is, remember to always take time for you.

Try to go to sleep at a decent hour so that you can start the next day feeling great.

  • What is Delta Mask Policy

Delta Air Lines: No Mask, No Fly

    3 Min Read

Delta Air Lines has become one of the most strident airlines in enforcing its mandatory mask policy due to the coronavirus pandemic.

More than 120 people have been banned from flying on the airline for refusing to wear a mask or face covering, according to an internal Delta memo the company recently sent to its employees.

Delta CEO Ed Bastian is resolute in disallowing unmasked passengers to board one of their planes.

“The flight experience today is really positive,” he told The Today Show. ”

Here Is What Delta Is Doing To Keep Passengers Safe

According to Bastian, here are some of the guidelines that make Delta safer than other airlines to fly:

    • Planes are sanitized through electrostatic methods
    • Planes are only booked to 6% capacity
    • Every middle seat is blocked on a Delta plane

When it comes to masks, Delta’s CEO says the airline has ramped up enforcement.

“We’ve been requiring masks since the 1st of May,” he said. “You cannot board a Delta plane unless you have a mask on.”

If you insist on not wearing a mask on a Delta flight “we will insist that you don’t wear Delta,” he said.

Even if you have a medical condition that prevents you from wearing a mask, Bastian says. “You might not want to fly Delta.”

He did say however that the airline is working with doctors on a validation process for customers who can’t wear masks for one medical reason or another.

If you’re wondering how that process works, footage on social media showed a woman passenger kicked off a flight. It is unclear if the video is of a Delta flight.

    What Is Delta’s Mask Policy?

Delta’s official mask policy states that “Delta customers and employees are required to wear a face mask, or appropriate cloth face covering over their nose and mouth throughout their travel, aligning with best practice guidelines from the CDC.”

Not only are masks or face coverings required onboard flights, but also at:

    • Lobby Check-in
    • Delta Sky Clubs
    • Boarding Gate Areas
    • Jet Bridges

The question on everybody’s mind though is this: Should you be flying right now? Read our air travel resource to find out.

  • Atlanta Mayor Re-Issues Stay At Home Order For City

New York Giving Atlanta Thousands Of COVID-19 Tests, PPE

    2 Min Read

Just when she needed a high-profile political ally, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has gotten a big one: New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

The two Democrats have struck a friendship that will pay dividends to Atlanta’s bid to help mitigate the coronavirus pandemic.

Cuomo tweeted Wednesday that he is sending to Atlanta 7,500 test kits, 30,000 pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE) and 1,250 gallons of hand sanitizer.

The items are scheduled to arrive on Friday, the governor said.

“When New York was in need, volunteers from around the country came here to help. We vowed to pay that generosity forward,” he said.

Bottoms retweeted the message, adding, “My mother often says, ‘A friend, in need, is a friend indeed.’ We are grateful to have a friend in @NYGovCuomo and the people of NY.”

The help comes as Bottoms navigates an icy relationship with Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, who slapped her hand days earlier when the mayor of the state’s largest city instituted a mask mandate.

“Atlanta Mayor Keisha Bottoms’ action today is merely guidance – both non-binding and legally unenforceable. As clearly stated in my executive orders, no local action can be more or less restrictive, and that rule applies statewide,” Kemp tweeted.

“If the Mayor actually wants to flatten the curve in Atlanta, she should start enforcing state restrictions, which she has failed to do.

Meanwhile Georgia’s COVID-19 numbers continue to climb, putting a strain on hospitals.

News of the new restaurant was announced on the city of Jonesboro’s Instagram page.

So where is Slutty Vegan’s Jonesboro location going to be? City Manager Ricky L. Clark Jr. has said that the new restaurant will be at 164 N. Mcdonough St. Jonesboro Ga 30236.

Cole’s restaurants have grown not only a regional following, but thanks to her celebrity connections and clientele, a national profile as well.

Aside from having a new Slutty Vegan in Jonesboro, Atlanta is having a restaurant renaissance. Hot chicken is the rage in Atlanta’s dining scene right now. But so are chicken and waffles.

Fast-casual is also the dining trend du jour around metro Atlanta restaurants. The concept involves mixing the quick accessibility of fast food with the casual dining experience. Food in Atlanta is also adapting to the various tastes of the migrants that come here to live.

Slutty Vegan To Open 13 Restaurants Over Next 2 Years

    2 Min Read

One of Atlanta’s most high-profile restaurants, the Slutty Vegan, is preparing to open 13 restaurants over the next two years.

The next project of Pinky Cole, a former TV producer-turned-restaurateur, is a bar concept in Ponce City Market. Bar Vegan is set to open in February 2021.

Slutty Vegan Expanding In Metro Atlanta

Customers can expect fresh takes on your favorite cocktails like the margarita, lemon drop martini and more.

Cole is not satisfied with staying in Georgia either. After a successful food truck run in Alabama, Slutty Vegan is testing a Birmingham location as well.

New locations have been earmarked for Duluth and Athens, Georgia among other places.

Slutty Vegan has been a huge success since it opened in early 2019. Cole, a former TV producer, began the eatery as a food truck specializing in plant-based burgers.

To show just how popular the restaurant is, more than 2,000 people recently waited in a long line to order from the eatery’s West End location. Granted, the special was a free burger, but still.

In late 2020, Slutty Vegan announced plans for a location on Edgewood Avenue, then again one in Jonesboro south of the city. Now, the restaurant is growing, well, like a plant.

    1 Month Vegan Challenge

A video the restaurant uploaded to social media says that it will open more than a dozen Slutty Vegan restaurants into 2022.
