Producers working in Atlanta are in need of movie stand-ins for the next “Avengers: Infinity War movie, for now called “Avengers 4,” which has begun filming around the city.
Casting directors are looking for people available to film scenes on Friday, October 12 in Atlanta.
The Avengers franchise has grossed more than $1 billion for Marvel, and the movie studio doesn’t see that easing up anytime soon. Marvel’s cinematic universe is firmly planted in Atlanta. Both “Black Panther” and “Ant-Man” have shot in the metro area, with several more sequels already planned.

Of all the cities vying to become the Amazon HQ2, Atlanta figured it had a leg up on the competition: world class airport, sizeable downtown and entertainment district, affordable housing and MARTA.
But Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and team have been eerily silent on which city they will choose to bring 50,000 jobs to and $5 billion in investment. But now the world’s biggest online retailer has announced that it will have an answer before end of year.
Speaking at a business meeting in Washington last week, CEO Jeff Bezos said a decision on HQ2 will be made before the close of 2018. He didn’t offer any more clues though.
The Seattle-based tech giant announced Sept. 7 2017 that it would build a new North America headquarters in a metropolitan city with an international airport, touching off a frenzied national competition. The project is expected to ring tens of thousands of jobs and raise the profile of the region — wherever it’s located — immeasurably.
“Let’s be honest with ourselves: This is the largest economic development deal in the history of America,” Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle told the AJC at the time. “It would require action by the Legislature if we are successful. And I’m very optimistic that we can land Amazon in the state, and we’re in great position to do that.”
Company officials toured several cities as it whittled down its list, but Atlanta has gotten only standard treatment so far. If Amazon does pick ATL, it will inherit a city bustling at the seams yet still able to accommodate things like a Super Bowl and more development per square mile than any metropolitan area in the Southeast.
But does Atlanta have what it takes? Only time — and Bezos — will tell.

North Fulton is getting a new health-conscious eatery next month as Flower Child, the fast-casual restaurant that serves seasonally driven, nourishing and food is set to open in Sandy Springs.
The restaurant will open its doors in City Springs, the multi-use project in the heart of downtown Sandy Springs. Flower Child will serve clean, made-from-scratch items such as salads, plates, wraps and bowls based upon seasonal vegetables and fruits, whole grains and lean proteins.
Flower Child’s 3,500-square-foot Sandy Springs location will offer an airy, open atmosphere where up to 78 diners can experience an open air vibe centered on decorative tile and brightly colored brick. Outside they can enjoy a patio that seats an additional 82 people in a 1,300 additional square foot space.
Flower Child is from hospitality expert and Fox Restaurant Concepts founder Sam Fox, who is quoted as saying, “We’re so honored to have received such an outpouring of support from the metro Atlanta community since opening Flower Child Buckhead. With our new location in Sandy Springs, we’re excited to continue our mission of sharing good vibes and delicious food with our growing community of friends and neighbors.”

One of Buckhead’s best-kept secrets opened in August in Phipps Plaza. Grand Lux Cafe is from the same people that brought us the Cheesecake Factory.The new restaurant comes on strong with hipness, contemporary decor and an atmosphere that’s a lot more relaxed.The eatery clear caters to the upwardly mobile and affluent, something that was clearly evident in the day AtlantaFi sampled a few items on the menu.Grand Lux Cafe opens in Buckhead
The restaurant borrows heavily from the grandeur and luxury of European cafes, including French bistros and Italian pastry shops, but with the contemporary sensibilities inherent in the American dining experience.Grand Lux Cafe first opened in Las Vegas at the famed Venetian Resort, Hotel and Casino, and was such a hit that the parent company sought to expand the idea. Now, there are Grand Lux Cafes in eight states, including Florida, Texas, New Jersey and New York.When I visited, for starters I tried the Chicken Lettuce Wraps, which includes minced Sauteed Chicken Breast and Vegetables in a Delicious Asian Sauce. Served with Cool Lettuce Wraps.The lettuce was crispy-fresh and served as a fitting shell for a heaping of shredded chicken laced with Asian sauce.For my entree, I went with the Stacked Chicken Quesadilla, which features tortillas Layered with Melted Cheese, Chicken, Tomato, Black Beans and Green Chiles. Served with Sour Cream and Salsa. It was heavenly.The help was exceptional. Each waiter or waitress tended to my needs as they were evident.As for the beverage program, was okay. I had a Moscow Mule that was on point. But a margarita was on the weak side. I’m sure it was just a hiccup.Grand Lux Cafe is open 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursdays. Buckhead is getting a new restaurant near one of the area’s most famous parks. Healthy casual Brack’s Kitchen is going to open in December near Chastain Park, according to news reports.
The restaurant will comprise nearly 2,6000 square feet in Buckhead Court shopping center at 3850 Roswell Road, home to Superica, a coffee shop and other eateries.
The restaurant’s opening, first reported by Tomorrow’s News Today,
marks a more modern, hipper brand of establishments for Buckhead Court, which has traditionally relied on the stoic chains of middle America to draw shoppers.
Signature dishes at Brack’s Kitchen will include Chicken & Dumplings, featuring marinated grilled chicken, balsamic roasted Brussels sprouts, black-eyed pea falafel, chili charred cauliflower as well as salads with the likes of marinated grilled shrimp, local lettuce mix, red onion, cucumber, citrus marinated avocado, marinated tomatoes, and cilantro lemon vinaigrette, according to Tonetoatl.com.

Kicking off in Miami on September 15 at The Fillmore Miami Beach, “Sting & Shaggy: The 44/876 Tour” will make stops at various venues along the way including Atlanta’s Tabernacle, The Theater at MGM National Harbor in Washington, Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom, plus additional Fillmore plays in both Philadelphia and Denver, before culminating at The Wiltern in Los Angeles on October 15 (full itinerary below).

Sting and Shaggy initially joined forces to record a new song, “Don’t Make Me Wait” (which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s digital reggae singles chart), as a tribute to the Caribbean sounds that influenced them both and ended up recording an entire album full of joyful and uplifting, melodic music. With its title referencing their respective telephone country codes (44 for the UK, Sting’s birthplace and 876 for Jamaica, Shaggy’s homeland), 44/876 honors the duo’s deep-rooted love for Jamaica: Shaggy’s birthplace, and where Sting penned such classics as “Every Breath You Take.”
Along with continuing each artist’s exploration of reggae and its transcendent rhythms, songs like “Don’t Make Me Wait,” “Morning is Coming,” and “Gotta Get Back My Baby” reveal Sting and Shaggy’s shared passion for creating timeless music that defies expectation.
