ATLANTA —The widow of actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner, best known for his role as Theo Huxtable on “The Cosby Show,” has filed a lawsuit in DeKalb County Superior Court against his mother, seeking more than $1.2 million from a family trust one year after the actor’s tragic death.
Tenisha Warner filed the lawsuit on Monday — the anniversary of her husband’s death — naming Pamela Warner as the successor trustee of the Warner Family Trust, which the late actor established in 1996. Court documents allege that Malcolm-Jamal Warner did not fulfill several obligations outlined in the couple’s premarital agreement signed shortly before their 2022 wedding.
Malcolm Jamal Warner Family Trust Dispute: Widow Sues Mother for $1.2M
According to the filing, those obligations included maintaining a $1 million term life insurance policy naming Tenisha as the beneficiary, along with other financial provisions such as annual payments, Roth IRA contributions, and compensation for her role as his chief of staff. Tenisha Warner is seeking approximately $1,276,042 plus attorney fees and interest. She also requests that the court freeze any distributions from the trust during the litigation.
Warner, who had ties to the Atlanta area and was sometimes described locally as an Atlanta actor, drowned at age 54 on July 20, 2025, while on a family vacation in Costa Rica. He was caught in a strong rip current while swimming with his young daughter, who was rescued. The couple shared a 9-year-old daughter, MacKenzie.
Tenisha Warner has stated that she upheld her responsibilities under the agreement and attempted private resolution before turning to the courts. She now finds herself supporting their daughter alone as the estate may lack sufficient assets to cover the claims. The 1996 trust reportedly directs the majority of assets to Pamela Warner and other family members from before the marriage, which Tenisha argues does not reflect her late husband’s intentions toward her and their child.
Pamela Warner has not publicly commented on the lawsuit.
This local case highlights ongoing tensions in estate and family trust matters following high-profile losses, particularly when premarital agreements and long-standing trusts intersect. The DeKalb County filing brings the dispute directly into Atlanta’s legal spotlight.

Tired of paying for that Amazon Prime subscription? Now it’s time for them to pay you.
Millions of current and former Amazon Prime members have a narrow window to claim compensation as part of a historic $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The deadline to file a claim is Monday, July 27, 2026.
Background of the Amazon Prime Claim Settlement
In September 2025, the FTC reached a $2.5 billion agreement with Amazon to resolve allegations that the company used deceptive practices to enroll consumers in Prime subscriptions and made cancellation unnecessarily difficult, in violation of the Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act.
Amazon agreed to the settlement without admitting liability. Of the total amount:
- $1 billion serves as a civil penalty.
- $1.5 billion is designated for consumer refunds to affected Prime members.
The FTC estimated the practices impacted tens of millions of customers.
Who Is Eligible?
You may qualify if you are a U.S. consumer who:
- Signed up for Amazon Prime between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025.
- Either enrolled unintentionally through challenged enrollment methods or attempted to cancel Prime online during that period but encountered difficulties.
Eligibility also considers limited use of Prime benefits in some cases (e.g., using no more than a small number of benefits in a 12-month period). Many customers received automatic refunds in late 2025, but others must file a claim.
How Much Can You Receive?
Eligible claimants can receive a refund of Prime subscription fees paid, capped at $51 per person. The exact amount distributed may vary based on the total number of approved claims and other factors.
How to File a Claim
- Visit the official settlement website: www.subscriptionmembershipsettlement.com.
- Submit the online claim form with the required information.
- Claims must be filed by July 27, 2026.
Approved claims are expected to result in payments around September 2026. No proof of purchase is typically required, but accuracy in providing details is essential.
Important Notes
- This is a claims process for those who did not receive automatic payments.
- Beware of scams: Only use the official settlement site. The FTC and settlement administrators will not ask for sensitive information unsolicited.
- For more details or to check status, refer to the FTC’s Amazon Refunds page or the dedicated settlement website.
Time is running out—nearly 40 million customers could be eligible, but only timely claims will be processed. If you think you qualify, visit the site and file before the July 27 deadline.

My girlfriend of 15 years wants to move to Atlanta. She says Jackson, Mississippi “doesn’t have the same opportunities.”Atlanta has long been a magnet for people seeking opportunity, affordability, and a dynamic Southern lifestyle.
Is Atlanta a Good City To Live In?
Even as domestic migration has moderated slightly in recent years, the metro area continues to attract tens of thousands of new residents annually through a powerful combination of economic strength, relative affordability, mild climate, and vibrant culture.
In 2025–2026 data, metro Atlanta (population around 6.4 million) still grows overall, adding roughly 75,000 residents in one recent 12-month period thanks to international migration, births, and natural increase—despite a small net domestic out-migration of about 1,300 people in 2023–2024. The region welcomes approximately 150 new residents every day, with about a quarter coming from other countries.
Here’s why Atlanta keeps drawing newcomers in 2026.
1. Strong, Diversified Economy and Job Opportunities
Atlanta serves as the economic engine of the Southeast. It hosts headquarters or major operations for numerous Fortune 500 companies, including Delta Air Lines, The Home Depot, The Coca-Cola Company, and UPS. Healthcare (Emory Healthcare, Piedmont, Wellstar), logistics, finance, and technology also thrive here.
The city’s Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport—the world’s busiest—makes it a logistics powerhouse, connecting businesses to global markets. The film and television industry, often called the “Hollywood of the South,” remains a major draw despite some post-strike fluctuations; Georgia’s tax incentives and studio infrastructure continue to support significant production volume.
Unemployment hovers around a healthy 3.5%, with consistent job growth in education, health services, construction, and professional sectors. Major expansions (such as Mercedes-Benz adding hundreds of jobs) and a younger-than-average population fuel ongoing demand for talent across career stages—from recent graduates to executives.
2. More Affordable Cost of Living Than Coastal Cities
One of Atlanta’s biggest appeals is its relative affordability compared to New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, or even some peer Sun Belt cities. Overall cost of living sits about 4–5% below the national average, with housing costs 13–17% lower.
Median home prices hover around $395,000, and rental rates remain more moderate than in many high-demand metros. This allows buyers and renters to get more space for their money—whether a single-family home in the suburbs or a condo near the BeltLine—making Atlanta attractive to families, remote workers “trading down” from expensive coastal markets, and young professionals.
While costs have risen in recent years (as they have nationwide), Atlanta still offers a compelling value proposition alongside strong job markets.
3. Mild Climate and Strategic Southeast Location
Atlanta enjoys four distinct but moderate seasons, with mild winters (snow is rare and usually light) and warm, humid summers. This climate appeals to people escaping harsh Northern winters or extreme Western heat and wildfires.
Its central Southeast location provides easy access to the Appalachian Mountains (a short drive north for hiking and cooler escapes), Georgia’s lakes and beaches (a few hours east or south), and major cities via the airport or interstate highways. The region’s physiographic diversity—rolling hills, forests, and urban amenities—adds to its quality-of-life appeal.20
4. Vibrant Culture, Diversity, and Lifestyle
Atlanta boasts incredible diversity, with a projected demographic mix that includes significant Black, White, Hispanic, and international populations. This richness fuels a world-class food scene (Southern classics alongside global cuisines), a legendary music heritage (hip-hop, R&B, and more), thriving arts, and professional sports (Falcons, Braves, Hawks, and Atlanta United).
Green spaces like Piedmont Park offer urban oases with skyline views, while the Atlanta BeltLine—a transformative 22-mile trail and transit corridor—enhances walkability, biking, and neighborhood connectivity.

Educational institutions such as Georgia Tech, Emory University, Morehouse, and Spelman attract students and faculty, contributing to a dynamic, forward-thinking atmosphere. Southern hospitality blends with big-city energy, creating neighborhoods with distinct personalities—from historic intown areas to family-friendly suburbs.
5. Infrastructure Investments and Future Growth
Ongoing projects like BeltLine expansions, new transit options, and mixed-use developments (e.g., Centennial Yards) signal continued investment in livability. The metro area is projected to keep growing substantially through 2050, supported by its diversified economy and infrastructure advantages.
A Balanced Perspective: Challenges Worth Noting
No city is perfect. Atlanta’s traffic can be notoriously heavy, especially during rush hours. Rapid growth has pushed up housing costs in desirable areas, and some residents cite concerns about infrastructure strain or urban sprawl. Recent data shows domestic migration has cooled from pandemic-era peaks as costs and congestion affect decisions.
However, for many newcomers, the pros—jobs, affordability relative to peers, climate, and culture—outweigh these trade-offs, especially when choosing the right neighborhood or suburb.
Conclusion: Atlanta’s Enduring Appeal
Atlanta offers a rare blend of big-city opportunity with Southern charm and relative affordability. Whether you’re drawn by career advancement in corporate, creative, or logistics fields, the chance to own more home for less money, or the vibrant, diverse lifestyle, the city continues to deliver on its reputation as a top relocation destination.
Atlanta is also known as a black Mecca, full of entrepreneurs in food, music, tech and more.
Many city eateries in Midtown and Buckhead are some of the best black restaurants in Atlanta, and there are plenty others. If you like barbecue, see our list of the Best Atlanta BBQ Restaurants.
As for eateries below I-20, these Southside Atlanta restaurants have developed quite a following.
The craze hasn’t escaped metro Atlanta’s food and drink scene, which has seen a bar explosion in recent years.
As the Southeast’s economic and cultural powerhouse, Atlanta isn’t just growing—it’s evolving in ways that keep it attractive to people from across the U.S. and around the world. If you’re considering a move, Atlanta’s combination of momentum and livability makes a strong case in 2026 and beyond.

In a powerful show of support for the family of 18-year-old Nolan Wells, Atlanta-based media mogul Tyler Perry and civil rights leader Rev. Al Sharpton have jointly offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to answers in the teen’s unexplained death following a Fourth of July celebration on Mississippi’s Horn Island.
The announcement came during Wells’ funeral on Monday, July 20, at Center Pointe Church in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, where Sharpton delivered the eulogy. Sharpton pledged $50,000, which Perry immediately matched via text message.
Tyler Perry and Rev. Al Sharpton Offer $100,000 Reward for Information in the Mysterious Death of Teen Nolan Wells
“We’re putting up $100,000 for anybody that’ll come forward. We just want the truth. That’s all,” Sharpton told mourners. “We just want the truth and we want to thank Tyler Perry.”
Sharpton emphasized that the reward aims to uncover facts that could lead to an arrest and conviction, while stressing he does not want to prejudice the outcome. He also pushed back against criticism suggesting he and attorney Ben Crump were involved for financial or publicity reasons.
“First of all, I don’t get any money in any of what we do,” Sharpton said. He noted that he and his associates often help cover funeral costs without seeking repayment, even in cases resulting in settlements. Tyler Perry had previously stepped in to help pay for Wells’ funeral.
The Case: What Happened to Nolan Wells?
Nolan Wells, an 18-year-old college student and football player, traveled by boat with friends to Horn Island, a barrier island off the Mississippi Gulf Coast, for Fourth of July festivities. He was reported missing hours later. His body was discovered two days later on the northwest end of the island.
The case has raised many questions. Attendees described a large, raucous party with hundreds of people present. There are conflicting accounts about whether Wells chose to stay behind when his group left due to a boat issue. His parents say it was highly out of character for him to separate from the group, especially without his phone (which was later returned by a friend).
Official and independent investigations continue, with autopsies still pending. Authorities have suggested drowning as a possible cause, but the family disputes rushing to that conclusion given the circumstances and has called for full transparency. Mississippi’s racial history has also been referenced in calls for a thorough probe.
Attorney Ben Crump, representing the family, echoed the demand for answers: “They went out on the boat, the boat came back and Nolan washed up on a shore two days later — dead. Wouldn’t you want answers? Wouldn’t you want transparency? Wouldn’t you want the truth? Wouldn’t you want justice?”
Community Support and Ongoing Mysteries
The Wells family has received significant backing, including more than $700,000 raised through an online fundraiser. At the funeral, Wells’ mother, Christine Wonsley, shared touching memories of her son, describing him as someone who brought joy and hoped to become a father to three girls someday.
The family has faced challenges, including hate mail sent to Wonsley. She responded on social media, calling out the behavior and urging critics to “go touch some grass.”
Despite numerous witnesses at the party, key details about Wells’ final hours remain unclear. An independent autopsy funded in part by Colin Kaepernick is also underway, according to related reports.
A Call for Truth
The $100,000 reward underscores high-profile determination to resolve lingering questions. Sharpton’s message was direct: Stand up and tell the truth, whatever it is.
As investigations proceed, the Wells family, supported by community leaders, celebrities, and the public, continues seeking closure. Anyone with information is urged to come forward.

Netflix has officially unveiled the first-look photos for its sequel series to the beloved 1980s/90s sitcom A Different World, offering fans a vibrant glimpse of both the new generation of Hillman College students and the returning original cast members. The 10-episode series, which wrapped this spring, is set to premiere on Thursday, September 24, 2026—exactly 39 years after the original show’s debut on NBC.
The Story Continues at Hillman

Filmed in Atlanta, the new series centers on Deborah Wayne (played by Tony Award winner Maleah Joi Moon), the lovingly sheltered youngest daughter of Whitley Gilbert and Dwayne Wayne. Described as a free spirit with a flair for the spotlight, a big heart, and a path she’s still figuring out, Deborah navigates life at the iconic HBCU while surrounded by a diverse new ensemble that reflects the breadth of Black life on campus.
Joining her are:
- Rashida Duvall (Alijah Kai) — a first-generation criminal justice major.
- Shaquille Johnson (Cornell Young IV) — a five-star athlete embracing legacy.
- Amir Rodale (Jordan Aaron Hall) — a sharp psychology major who excels at helping others but struggles with his own issues.
- Hazel Henry (Kennedi Reece) — a church-raised small-town girl defining her own values.
- Kojo Achebe (Chibuikem Uche) — a Ghanaian-Nigerian fashion entrepreneur finding his courage.
The series is created, showrun, written, and executive produced by Felicia Pride, with Debbie Allen (a key producer and director from the original) serving as EP and director. Additional executive producers include Tom Werner, Reggie Rock Bythewood, Gina Prince-Bythewood, and Mandy Summers.

Returning Favorites
Seven beloved alumni are reprising their roles:
- Jasmine Guy as Whitley Gilbert
- Kadeem Hardison as Dwayne Wayne
- Cree Summer as Freddie Brooks
- Darryl M. Bell as Ron Johnson
- Charnele Brown as Kimberly Reese
- Jenifer Lewis as Dorothy Dandridge Davenport
- Jada Pinkett Smith as Lena James
The original A Different World aired for six seasons on NBC from 1987 to 1993. It began as a spin-off of The Cosby Show focused on Denise Huxtable (Lisa Bonet) before evolving into its own vibrant exploration of Black college life.

A Fresh Take on a Classic
While the original was a multi-camera sitcom filmed before a live studio audience, the sequel adopts a single-camera format without one. It’s billed as a “hopeful dramedy” that dives into the rituals, humor, and nuances of HBCU life, centering the richness and complexity of the Black experience.
Fans are already buzzing with excitement as these first-look images capture everything from campus parties and games to heartfelt moments and group hugs that feel both nostalgic and brand new.
Will you be tuning in when A Different World returns to Netflix this fall? The campus doors are reopening—class is officially back in session at Hillman.

The bright, citrus-flavored sparkling soda officially returned to the onboard lineup on July 1, 2026, just in time for peak travel season.
Fresca, known for its crisp, refreshing taste with zero calories in its standard form, has long held a devoted following among travelers.
Delta Air Lines Brings Back Fresca
Many passengers fondly remember it from earlier Delta flights and persistently asked for its return through feedback channels.
Delta’s decision highlights the airline’s commitment to listening to customers and enhancing the in-flight experience with beloved brands.
Why Fresca Matters Onboard
Available during standard beverage service and complimentary across cabins (where service is offered), Fresca stands out as a versatile option. It works well on its own for a light, zesty refreshment or as a mixer with spirits for those seeking a cocktail twist. It joins other sodas like Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Sprite, and Seagram’s Ginger Ale on the menu.
The return comes amid broader updates to Delta’s onboard offerings. The airline also added Rold Gold Tiny Twists Original Pretzels as a new complimentary snack, replacing SunChips Garden Salsa, while keeping favorites like Cheez-It crackers and Lotus Biscoff cookies.
Additional Perks for Summer Travel
Delta is sweetening the deal with partner benefits:
- T-Mobile customers can link their SkyMiles account via the T-Life app to unlock one complimentary premium beverage per eligible flight (longer than 350 miles in certain regions).
- Delta SkyMiles American Express Card Members can claim a premium snack on select longer flights through October 31, 2026.
These enhancements reflect Delta’s focus on making air travel more enjoyable and rewarding, especially as passengers seek familiar comforts at 30,000 feet.
A Win for Customer Feedback
The Fresca comeback demonstrates the power of passenger voices. Social media and review platforms had buzzed with requests for the soda’s return, and Delta delivered. For many, it’s more than just a drink—it’s a nostalgic touch that elevates an ordinary flight.
Whether you’re a longtime Fresca fan or eager to try it for the first time, keep an eye on the beverage cart on your next Delta flight. The airline’s latest move proves that sometimes, the best things in travel are the ones that come back better than ever. Safe skies and refreshing sips ahead!

Atlanta’s climate makes cooling performance and support the top priorities. Hybrids (pocketed coils + foam) generally outperform all-foam options here because they promote better airflow and temperature regulation.
We’re going to show you the best mattress stores in Atlanta and what real people have to say about them, in case you want to purchase one of their products.
What Company Sells The Best Mattress?
While there has been considerable expert analysis done on the best mattress brands, much of it depends on your individual preferences, weight, body frame and other personal factors.
We have researched the top mattresses that consumers use for restful sleep.
Here Are The Best Mattress Stores In Atlanta
The mattress industry is the only one that is literally dependent on people who are asleep! That doesn’t mean it’s hard to know quality from less-than-good mattress.
Let’s just say right away, that there are some great mattress options on Amazon that may be hard to beat in price:
- Ashley Furniture Signature Design – 12″ Memory Express Foam Mattress
- Linenspa 8″ Memory Foam
- Zinus Memory Foam 12″ Green Tea Mattress, Queen
- Vibe 12″ Gel Memory Foam Mattress
- Inofia Queen Mattress 12″ Hybrid Innerspring Double Mattress
The Difference Between Foam vs. Spring vs. Gel Mattresses
A spring mattress is more conventional: It has a spring in it. A memory foam mattress is good for cradling support as it yields to the curvatures and indentations created by your body. A gel mattress has been pumped with gel to assist in internal temperature cooling.
Now let’s get into what Atlanta has to offer in terms of mattress stores:

Here’s what one Google reviewer says about the Mattress Firm: “Rodney helped me, and he was amazing! He was super helpful. Greeted me, remembered me, and took me directly to the product I was interested in, as soon as I walked in. I didn’t have my physical card with me and needed to use Apple Pay (which they don’t support). He was so patient and accommodating, and he came up with a work around that allowed me to make a web payment! Couldn’t have been happier with my experience.”Original Mattress Factory

Having been a previous customer, I was happy to be updated with all of the ways things have improved since I last purchased. Al was exceptionally friendly & helpful…he knew the answers to all of our questions, and didn’t sell us on anything. The product sells itself, and his confidence & product knowledge were an excellent backdrop.”
