Marvel fans woke up Friday to a delight of the senses: The new trailer for “Avengers: Infinity War” was released by Marvel. In all of their glory, you get to see the franchise’s newest super villian, Thanos, take on the likes of Captain America, Iron Man and the whole gang.
Fans of Black Panther will feel right at home as Thanos is seen in the clip laying waste to Wakanda. (Let’s hope it survives, it’s been slated for a part 2.) Along with Chadwick Boseman, we see his on-screen sister Shuri, who figures to play an important role, especially because she is the one who constructs Captain America’s shield out of Vibranium.
This latest movie in the Avengers franchise centers on Thanos (Josh Brolin) and his quest for the Infinity Stones, which has been hinted at (artfully in the post-credit scenes) since the first movie more than six years ago.
Because of fan anticipation, Marvel has moved up the release date of “Infinity War” to April 27.

Thursday night’s third episode of “Atlanta” featured nods to the city’s recent past, including former Falcons quarterback Michael Vick. The show also weaved some Gucci Mane fodder into the dialogue.
Earn comes into some money, hoping to show Van a good time, only there’s no good time to be had in the city this night.
Michael Vick appears in AtlantaFX episode
The ending scene showing Vick pays homage to the football star’s time in the A and also what he meant to the fans. Down on his luck, he has resorted to racing people for money. Earn has been finessed out of money all night, why not again, this time on his terms?
Meanwhile, this is Van’s “Robbin’ Season” debut, with the first two episodes devoted wholly to the fellas. After the opening scene, she’s in pretty much the rest of the show, bouncing lines off Earn, who is trying to show her a good time on his dime for once.

“Money Bag Shawty” touches on a number of hot-button topics, including institutionalized racism, strip club commerce and VIP culture, but mostly it does what AtlantaFX has always done, and that is show you the truth through that ATL lens.

The Atlanta Beltline is adding to its waist — and that’s a good thing.
On Thursday, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms announced that the city has acquired the railroad corridor needed to complete the Atlanta BeltLine’s Southside Trail. The move means that the Eastside and Westside Trails will be linked, creating 14 contiguous miles of the Atlanta BeltLine corridor.
Bottoms said the purchase of the 4.5-mile span today from CSX was the largest remaining piece to fulfill the 22-mile project.
Atlanta Beltline Acquisition Secures 4-Mile Stretch From CSX Railroad
“I am pleased to announce that the City of Atlanta and the Atlanta BeltLine have concluded the largest remaining single purchase of land toward closing the Atlanta BeltLine loop,” Bottoms said in a written statement. “With this historic purchase, the City of Atlanta is taking another step forward in improving connectivity, growth and investment in South Atlanta by providing access to trails, transit options and world-class greenspace for all residents.”
City leaders lauded the announcement, including Beltline CEO / President Brian McGowan, who was on hand.
“The Southside Trail will connect the east side of the Atlanta BeltLine to the west side for the first time in its history – and that changes everything.” McGowan said in printed remarks. “This inactive rail corridor that once divided neighborhoods can now be used to create jobs, transit and affordable housing options for communities south of downtown.”
I am thrilled to announce the purchase of the Railroad Corridor for the BeltLine’s Southside Trail. For many decades Atlanta’s neighborhoods have been separated by physical barriers. The @AtlantaBeltLine breaks those barriers and connects us all in so many important ways. pic.twitter.com/5Sz0zfJ6c2

The BeltLine, which began as a master’s thesis for Georgia Tech student Ryan Gravel, has turned into the largest public-private development in the city in the past quarter century. When it is finished, it will connect the core of the city’s neighborhoods and improve transportation, add green space, and promote redevelopment..
Mayor @KeishaBottoms announced the purchase of the 4.5-mile Southside Trail today from CSX – a landmark day for the City of Atlanta, the Atlanta BeltLine, and the many, many partners, stakeholders and supporters with whom we work! Thank you all! https://t.co/suGuyaIoUT pic.twitter.com/NOulxTvpBr

The Mercedes-Benz emblem already towers over the Atlanta skyline, courtesy of a $1.5 billion sports stadium. But this week, the automaker took things to a whole other level.
On Thursday, the company officially opened its Atlanta headquarters, ushering in a new era of corporate culture to the city. In a tweet, the company posted: “The future is bright. We’re excited to officially open our new US headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia.
#MBUSA#MBHQ”Mercedes-Benz USA is in the midst of moving employees into its new $93 million headquarters in Sandy Springs. The company’s U.S. base was previously located in Montvale, New Jersey.
By football season, around 1,000 employees will be operating out of the facility. The distribution center’s focus will be on sales, marketing and customer service, the company said.
Mercedes’ entry into the Atlanta market is joined by other Fortune 500 automakers such as Porsche Cars North America, and Groupe PSA. Of course, city leaders are still waiting on Amazon to make a decision on whether to build its vaunted #H2Q site to Atlanta as well.

One of the most revered horror cult comedy films of all time is having a showing in Atlanta in the coming days. “House” or more accurately, (ハウス “Hausu)” is a 1977 Japanese film of critical acclaim. On Thursday, it will play on the big screen at Atlanta’s oldest movie house, the Plaza Theater.
The movie, directed by eclectic filmmaker Nobuhiko Obayashi, centers on a schoolgirl who takes six of her classmates to her sick aunt’s rural home, where they each meet an untimely and supernatural death.
This is what Wiki says about the fear fest: “The film company Toho approached Obayashi with the suggestion to make a film like Jaws. Influenced by ideas from his daughter Chigumi, Obayashi developed ideas for a script that was written by Chiho Katsura. After the script was green-lit, the film was put on hold for two years as no director at Toho wanted to direct it. Obayashi promoted the film during this time period until the studio allowed him to direct it himself. The film was a box office hit in Japan but received negative reviews from critics. House received a wide release in 2009 and 2010 in North America, where it received more favorable reviews.”
“Hausu” is just the first in a series of cult films to be shown at the Plaza. Here are deets on the others. Get tix here.
