Couples Communication Workshop (Unmarried) In Atlanta

    1 Min Read

Good news: Happy, successful relationships aren’t due to luck, coming from a “good” family, or finding “The One.” All couples fight and have problems communicating at times. Thankfully, effective skills can be learned and practiced; and certain skills are far more effective than others AND backed up by science.

The Couples Communication Workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2019 at 1100 Peachtree St NE, 1100 Peachtree Street Northeast Atlanta, GA 30309.

    Atlanta: Couples Communication Workshop

In this workshop, you will learn how to identify common communication pitfalls, defuse heated arguments, change unhelpful patterns, and apply practical research-based strategies to prevent future conflicts from escalating.

It is important to note that this is a psychoeducational workshop, not couples therapy. It is best for couples who are committed to strengthening their relationship and are not in severe distress.

If you are in a high-conflict relationship or concerned about privacy, a traditional couples therapy consultation with me or another professional is a better choice.

This is for unmarried couples only; all sexual orientations are welcome. You will not be required nor pressured to share any personal details about your relationship.

Super Bow Live: Schedule, Concert Footage, Videos, etc.

With the Super Bowl, much has been made about the lack of Atlanta talent on the marquee. Big musical acts like Maroon 5 and Cardi B have been booked for national exposure, but Atlantans are also represented.

Here is the Super Bowl Live lineup: Free concert series produced by Jermaine Dupri

Thanks to some pulling of strings by Atlanta officials, the Super Bowl Committee tapped none other than local So So Def maestro Jermaine Dupri to head musical events for Super Bowl LIve, a week-long concert series.

Dupri, no stranger to these parts, rode shotgun over Atlanta’s musical hey day, giving the world such world renown acts as Kriss-Kross, Xcape and Da Brat.

He also penned #1 hits for the likes of major artists like Usher and Mariah Carey. In 2004, Usher’s “Confessions,” which largely chronicled the love life of Dupri, rocketed to #1 on the charts and sold more than 5 million copies.

Now Jermaine is bringing along a number of Atlanta artists, producers and engineers so that the world can get that authentic ATL sound when they converge on the city in last week in January up to the first weekend in February.

Added to the Super Bowl Live lineup in recent days has been Monica, S.O.S. Band, Craig Campbell and more. They will join the likes of Atlanta artists like Waka Flaka Flame and Goodie Mob. Dupri and his team promised to dig deep into Georgia’s red clay to bring a homegrown feel to the free concert series.

MLK’s Vine City Home Added To National Historical Park Sites

    3 Min Read

The home in Atlanta neighborhood known as Vine City where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. raised his family with Coretta Scott King is now open to the public for the first time.

MLK’s Vine City home is being made accessible to as part of Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park, a part of the National Park System.

MLK’s Vine City home is now a National HIstorical Park site

The National Park Foundation purchased the home, via private philanthropy, from the estate of Coretta Scott King on January 8, 2019, and immediately transferred it to the National Park Service

Everybody is well aware of MLK’s birth home at 501 Auburn Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30312, which has been a part of the National Park Service for years, but few know about MLK’s Vine City home where the adult minister and civil rights leader raised his children along with his faithful wife Coretta Scott King.

“The National Park Service’s dedication to preserving historic properties is unmatched,” said Dr. Bernice A. King, daughter of Martin Luther King Jr., on behalf of the King family. “We are very pleased to have worked with the National Park Foundation to ensure that the family home that my siblings and I grew up in will be open and available to the public. My brothers and I are honored to have fulfilled my mother’s wish to allow future generations to know the story of our dad as a father, a husband, a minister, and a civil rights leader.”

“The addition of the homes where Dr. King was born and where he raised his family with Coretta Scott King provides the National Park Service sacred spaces to more fully tell the story of Dr. King’s life and legacy,” said National Park Service Deputy Director P. Daniel Smith. “Thanks to the efforts of the National Park Foundation and the generosity of the King family, these areas are now among the many civil rights sites that are preserved as part of the National Park System and will be accessible to the American people in perpetuity.”
