Atlanta filmmaker Tyler Perry announced that he will put on an all-star tribute concert honoring the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. Perry will host the Aretha Franklin tribute in California.
The show will tape at the Shrine Auditorium in L.A. on Jan. 13, 2019, according to the Grammys, which will coordinate the event along with music mogul Clive Davis and CBS.
“For more than six decades, her extraordinary artistic achievements coupled with her passionate dedication to her philanthropic work — which ranged from children’s and artists’ issues to civil rights activism — served as a testament to her power, majesty, and genius,” Recording Academy President/CEO Neil Portnow said in a statement. “These gifts positioned her as a true cultural icon, and the Recording Academy is honored to celebrate her inspirational legacy.”

I’ve started and stopped my show so many times but one thing has always been consistent: my desire to support and empower women of color to live out their truth and my desire to share their stories. Man, I love a good story.
The World Is Ours is a talk show where I talk to millennial entrepreneurs, leaders and creatives about the spiritual and cultural concepts, beliefs and habits that inspire their creativity and inform the work they do in their business and life. We’re talking about personal growth, current events, entrepreneurship and more.
All in all, we’re talking about REAL STUFF. There’s enough of the super fluffy stuff. I want to talk about the real challenges, the real hero’s journey, the real REAL.
And during this screening, you’ll get to see a preview. You’ll get to tell me what you think and you’ll get to hear a road map of what’s to come.
Screening starts promptly at 6:45p on Thursday, January 17, 2019
*hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Kente characterized by weft designs woven into every available block of plain weave is called adweneasa. The Akan people choose kente cloths as much for their names as their colors and patterns. Although the cloths are identified primarily by the patterns found in the lengthwise (warp) threads, there is often little correlation between appearance and name. Names are derived from several sources, including proverbs, historical events, important chiefs, queen mothers, and plants. The cloth symbolizes high in value.
