Because of the damage that the coronavirus pandemic has done to the travel industry, many major airlines have taken steps to ensure that passengers are healthy before they board planes.
The carriers will require that passengers complete “health acknowledgements” as an added precaution to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The voluntary health rules come from Airlines for America (A4A), the industry trade organization representing the leading U.S. airlines.
Here are the main areas that would constitute a “health acknowledgment,” according to A4A:
- Face Coverings: Assurance that all passengers have a face covering and wear it at the airport and on board.
- Symptoms: Assurance that the passenger is not experiencing a fever, which is essentially a temperature (38C/100.4F or higher), coughing, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, loss of taste or smell, chills, muscle pain and/or sore throat.
- Exposure – Assurance that the passenger has not had close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 or had symptoms in the last 14 days.
After initial resistance, many airline executives have warmed to the idea that passengers should wear face masks.
Delta CEO Ed Bastian told staff that masks should be required for customers and those who don’t comply should be penalized.
“We take the requirement to wear a mask very seriously,” Bastian, said according to CNBC.com. “Customers who choose not to comply with this or any other safety requirement risk losing their future flight privileges with Delta.”

Who is Natalie White?
That’s the question that Atlanta investigators want to know after images of the woman were released by authorities over the past week.
White was arrested outside the law offices of her attorney on June 23 and booked with first-degree arson, according to the AJC.
“Our GCSO Fugitive Unit’s hard work paid off today when they located Natalie White today and notified US Marshals/Fulton Co Sheriff Fugitive Unit, who made the arrest. Great team effort!,” the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office tweeted. “We appreciate ATLFireRescue‘s great investigation, which led to the ID of this suspect.”

So far, police believe Natalie White is one of the people who started the massive fire at the Wendy’s restaurant on University Avenue on June .
That’s the day that people filled the streets after a police officer shot and killed Rayshard Brooks.
There was also a $20,000 reward for anyone with more information about the woman, according to police. It is unclear whether anyone will get to claim the money.
While the arrest brings to a close one of the more mysterious aspects of the unrest in the wake of the Brooks killing, many questions still remain about White.
Here’s What We Know About Natalie White So Far
The Atlanta Fire Department tweeted this announcement on June 20: “An arrest warrant has been issued by Atlanta Fire Investigators for Ms. Natalie White. She has been identified as a suspect in the arson fire that burned down the Wendy’s Restaurant (125 University Ave) on Saturday, June 13th. Call 404-577-TIPS or 1-800-282-5804 with any info.”
Police have released tons of footage of the Brooks arrest and subsequent shooting. In the dialog, Brooks can be heard telling an officer that “Natalie White” is his girlfriend.
“Natalie White, she’s my girlfriend … I can call her now,” he tells officer.

Could it be the same Natalie White? This is something that detectives are trying to figure out.
Meanwhile the Wendy’s has become a makeshift shrine and gathering place for the community. Many people have cardoned off the area and made it a no-passing zone.
Protesters are also reportedly demanding that White be released out of custody, although she is scheduled to be arraigned in the coming days.

Are you ready to take a look at these cast iron skillets? Let’s do it in a jiffy:
Lodge L8SK3 Cast Iron Skillet, 10.25″, Black – $13.87
Here’s what one reviewer says about this Lodge cast iron skillet: “This product is simply amazing and of very best quality that is available on Amazon. Its just worth an investment as it will last a lifetime with the right handling. Following are my comments after one month of usage.”
AmazonBasics 15-Inch Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Skillet Pan
Here’s what one reviewer says about this AmazonBasics Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Skillet. “This is my first cast iron cookware. I read up on how to care for it, as well as gleaned tips and tricks from my grandmother and stepmom, who are cast iron pros from way back. From the reviews, I went ahead and re-seasoned it as soon as I received the package. It came double-boxed and styrofoam-lined; completely intact (I had read a review from someone who had received a snapped off handle and pan, not the case here). Since re-seasoning it, I’ve cooked with it three times so far. Eggs, sausage, and burgers. As far as what I’ve heard cast iron is supposed to do, this does it. It’s heavy, gets hot and stays hot, cleans easy, and the 10.5″ skillet fits our big burner perfectly. I’m very pleased with it, no regrets for my first cast iron skillet.”
Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Skillet 2-Piece Set (10-Inch and 12-Inch) Oven Safe Cookware
Here’s what one reviewer says about this pre-seasoned cast iron skillet: “These are so great! They clean so easily! Cooking in them is a treat. Nothing sticks too much in them and the flavor of burgers or any food cooked in them is delicious!”
Home-Complete Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Skillet-12 inch
Here’s what one reviewer says about this pre-seasoned cast iron skillet: “This is OK but it is about half the thickness or less of what it should be. It doesn’t hold temp for that reason. It was cheap enough to keep but if you’re looking for the old school pan your grandmother used to make great fried chicken, this isn’t it.”

With pressure mounting in the city, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has moved swiftly to enact police reform.
She said that the new rules were supposed to be devised by a new task force that convened to address many of the problems recent events in the city have spotlighted. But she said the fatal police shooting of Rayshard Brooks moved her to act immediately.
Atlanta Police Reform: Here Are The New Rules For Use Of Force
“I am often reminded by the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and that is that ‘There is a fierce urgency of now,'” she said. “It is clear that we do not have another day, another minute, another hour to waste.”
With that Bottoms introduced an Executive Order, which directs the Interim Chief of Police to immediately adopt and implement changes to the standard operating procedures and work rules of the Atlanta Police Department concerning their use of force.
NEW: Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms says she is signing a series of administrative orders calling on police to implement reforms concerning use-of-force policies: "It is clear that we do not have another day, another minute, another hour to waste." https://t.co/CGtcyDKQZz pic.twitter.com/kml2dc5bKW
— ABC News (@ABC) June 15, 2020
According to the administrative order released by the city, here are what the immediate reforms include:
- Intervening in unreasonable use of deadly force: requiring officers to intervene when seeing another officer using force that is beyond what is reasonable under the circumstances, and reporting deadly use of force to the on-duty supervisor;
- Shooting at moving vehicles: provide lawful restrictions on when an officer may use deadly force at a suspect who is in a moving motor vehicle;
- Addressing officers’ response to resistance: apply de-escalation techniques to gain voluntary compliance and use only the amount of objectively reasonable force necessary to successfully protect themselves or others during an arrest or to bring an incident under control when dealing with members of the community, suspects, and detainees; and
- Reporting deadly use of force: require the reporting of all uses of deadly force by a police officer to the Citizens Review Board.
The new rules come as Bottoms faces criticism for her handling of the protests, which have been mostly peaceful expect for some looting that took place in Buckhead.
But the public pressure has taken a toll. Bottoms announced last week that Police Chief Ericka Shields would resign so that the police force could start to rebuild with a fresh face at the helm.
Bottoms also called for and received the immediate termination of the officer who killed Brooks.
And as the spotlight continues to shine, Bottoms is among the women being vetted as a potential vice president contender with the Joe Biden presidential campaign.
Meanwhile, a sheriff in Burke County, Georgia, says that the officer who fatally shot Rayshard Brooks did nothing wrong.
“There’s nothing malicious or sadistic in the way these law officers behaved,” Sheriff Alonzo Williams told CNN.

Atlanta movie mogul Tyler Perry says he will pay for the funeral of Rayshard Brooks, the 27-year-old man who was shot to death by a police officer Friday at a Wendy’s restaurant.
The news comes not from Perry, but rather the attorney of the Brooks family, who announced it to reporters Monday.
Tyler Perry To Pay For Rayshard Brooks Funeral In Atlanta
In addition to paying for Brooks’ funeral, Perry has also offered to pay for the college educations of his children: Blessing, 8, Memory, 2, Dream 1, and stepson Mekai, 13.
Perry is no stranger to kind acts in the city and other places. Last spring he paid for the groceries of hundreds of senior citizens and several Kroger and other stores in Atlanta and New Orleans.
The filmmaker recently restarted production at Tyler Perry Studios, instituting a strict health protocol to guard against COVID-19.
Among the many restrictions is that all crew and actors must stay on site for the entire time they are filming. See the rest of the rules here.
Meanwhile, protests continued another day in Atlanta, which has been the center of a firestorm in the aftermath of the shooting. Police Chief Ericka Shields resigned and the officer who shot Brooks was fired at the behest of Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms.
Authorities also continue to look for a woman who appeared to start the fire at the Wendy’s restaurant on University Avenue.
There are also reports that nearly 20 Atlanta police officers have resigned amid reports that morale is near rock bottom after the recent events in the city.

People gathered at the Wendy’s for a second day in the wake of a police homicide that was caught on video. The gathering site was the Wendy’s restaurant on the city’s south side.
The previous day, large plumes of smoke bellowed from the Wendy’s at University Avenue and Pryor Road late Saturday and into Sunday as protesters sent a message to the powers that be.

The protests, which have been happening every night, took on renewed significance after Atlanta police shot down Rayshard Brooks after a brief struggle.
Late into the night, Atlanta police were trying to get protesters to leave the scene. Many of them showed up outside a police precinct in nearby Grant Park.
Video released by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation showed that Brooks was tased by two officers then wrestled with them on the ground before emerging with the taser and trying to run.
He was shot in the back three times and died a short time later.

Here’s what one reviewer says about this Le Creuset cast iron skillet: “I’ve been reading reviews complaining about things sticking to the pan or the coating on the cast iron surface looking bad after a single use, but I haven’t had either of those problems. The key is knowing the right temperature at which to cook various foods. (For example, don’t cook eggs on the highest heat which seems to be a theme amongst those complaining) Cast iron takes a bit of skill to master its uses, but once you do, you can cook almost anything in them (except acidic foods), especially these coated cast-iron pans. For those who are worried about the negative reviews, just watch a few youtube videos or do a little internet searching to find the ins and outs of cast iron cooking, and you won’t have any problems. If the coating starts to look a little dull, you can still oil these pans just like a regular cast iron pan even though they have a coating on them already. A TINY dot of oil wiped around the pan will make it look gorgeous!
