Delta Air Lines Announces Free Wi-Fi On Flights

    2 Min Read

Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines brought in the new year with very good travel news for passengers: free Wi-Fi on flights.

The news means that instead of paying $50 a month, frequent customers can enjoy internet service at no charge.

Delta Air Lines Flights To Get Free Wi-Fi

The airline made the announcement at the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, where companies unveil the latest tech developments in the works.

For Delta, the Wi-Fi rollout will be a gradual one with planes on the airline’s most popular routes first to receive it. After that, smaller jets and the wide-body aircraft used for international flights will get free internet service in 2024.

You’ll be able to know if your particular plane is enabled for Wi-Fi by an icon on display near the boarding area, the airline said.

How Much Does Delta Charge For Wi-Fi?

If your plane isn’t equipped for free Wi-Fi, Delta charges $7 for a one-hour pass. There are also monthly Wi-Fi plans available for purchase.

As we mentioned, it costs $49.95 for monthly access to Wi-Fi on all domestic flights that Delta has equipped for internet service.

    What Airlines Have Free Wi-Fi?

Delta joins JetBlue Airways as the only other major airline to offer complimentary internet service to its customers.

    Final Word

Free Wi-Fi is yet another perk that Delta is offering its passengers. The airline announced in January 2022 that travelers that the expiration date for any travel credits you still have has been extended through 2023.

  • Atlanta Rapper Quavo Performs Takeoff Tribute At Grammys

    3 Min Read

Months after his death, Atlanta rapper Takeoff received a musical tribute from fellow rap groupmate and real-life uncle Quavo during the Grammy Awards ceremony Sunday night, Feb. 5.

During the emotional song, Missing You, Quavo was accompanied by a gospel choir amid a backdrop of images featuring him, Takeoff and Offset, the Migos.

Takeoff was shot three times in the body and head on November 1, 2022 in Houston, Texas. The suspect has been arrested and is set to go on trial in Takeoff’s death.

Quavo Performs Takeoff Tribute At Grammy Awards

    Watch Quavo’s Grammy Awards performance:

In January, Quavo released the Takeoff tribute track “Without You.”

In the song, Quavo says this about Takeoff:

    I wish I had a time machine
Just so you can take a ride with me (Skrr-skrrt)
I miss just how you smile at me (Smile)
Unc and Phew until infinity (Infinity)

While much of the rap world and music fans as a whole mourned his death, understandably, Quavo was perhaps the hardest hit by Takeoff’s death. In the days after the incident, he wrote:

“You are OUR angel, watching me and watching us this whole time in living form making sure EVERYONE FELT UR LOVE AND HUGS while u here and u made our dreams come true,”

Before he was killed, Takeoff and Quavo had recently recorded and released a new album, Unc & Phew, releasing its first single just days before.

Days after the fatal shooting, throngs of people gathered at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium for a ticket-only funeral service.

When Are The 2023 Grammy Awards?

The 2023 Grammys will take place on February 5, 2023 at 7:00 PM EST.

The show will broadcast live on the CBS Television Network and stream live and on-demand on Paramount+ at 8-11:30 p.m. ET / 5-8:30 p.m. PT.

  • Bed Bath Beyond store closings Atlanta

These Atlanta Bed, Bath And Beyond Stores Will Remain Open

    3 Min Read
Bed, Bath and Beyond recently announced that it was closing nearly 40 more stores across the country as the copany teeters toward bankruptcy. In the Atlanta market, some popular store locations have not been spared.

This article will tell you what you need to know about the Bed, Bath and Beyond store closures in metro Atlanta and which store locations will stay open.

Why Is Bed, Bath & Beyond in Financial Trouble?

Bed, Bath & Beyond, like many retailers, is struggling with inventory issues in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, which severely constrained the supply chain and led to worker shortages. That has led to big sales, but not enough.

More importantly, Bed, Bath & Beyond is coping with liquidity (money) woes. It doesn’t have the cash to support how much debt it has accumulated over the past three years and is trying to stay solvent by initiating stock buybacks and trimming stores and personnel.

For the everyday customer, that means they’ve been seeing more store closures.

Which Bed, Bath & Beyond Stores In Metro Atlanta Are Closing?

    • The Bed, Bath & Beyond at 130 Perimeter Center West in Atlanta near Perimeter Mall is closing.
    • The Bed, Bath & Beyond at 4475 Roswell Rd, Marietta, Ga. is closing as well.
    • Bed Bath & Beyond store at 1 Buckhead Loop NE, Atlanta, will shut its doors, too.
    • Snellville: Presidential Market Center, 1905 Scenic Hwy Suite 5000
    • Suwanee: 2623 Peachtree Pkwy

Read the full Bed, Bath and Beyond Store Closings List for 2022.

In the third quarter of 2022, the company told shareholders that it had failed to reach its revenue benchmark, reporting sales of $1.2 billion compared to $1.8 billion for the same period a year before. This meant that more changes were in store for the bathware store.

When the latest store closures were announced, Sue Gove, President & CEO of Bed Bath & Beyond said, “Today’s announcement underscores the importance of having initiated a turnaround at the start of the third quarter and why we strengthened our leadership team to execute each step with precision. Our plan has two anchors: the first enables us to refocus merchandising and inventory, operate more efficiently, and grow our digital and omni-capabilities, and the second focuses on strengthening our financial position.”

The closures are part of the company’s plans to trim overhead, which it announced a couple of years ago.

What Bed, Bath & Beyond Stores Will Remain Open?

The Atlanta Bed, Bath & Beyond stores that will remain open for now include:

    • 1235 Caroline St NE, Atlanta, GA 30307
    • 2955 Cobb Pkwy SE Ste 110, Atlanta, GA 30339
    • 6050 North Point Pkwy, Alpharetta, GA 30022

    Final Word

The sad news has a silver lining for those looking to save money. There should be some clearance sales in the next few days at these stores, which means you can buy some cool bath, beauty and baby products for less.

Along with the wonderful things to eat and do in Atlanta, there are also so awesome places to shop.

In addition to malls, many Atlanta boutiques and consignment shops have daily deals so that you can save money.

Atlanta’s retail scene continues to be a bright spot for the local economy — and that means more sales for everyone!

What Is The Plot Of Black Panther Wakanda Forever?

The plot of the movie centers around how the nation of Wakanda will cope after the loss of King T’Challa and pressure from surrounding nations to share its prized supply of Vibranium.

Under duress, Queen Ramonda implores Shuri to continue her research on the herb, hoping to create a new Black Panther that will defend Wakanda. Shuri resists the queen’s overtures because she says the Black Panther as a relic of the past.

Meanwhile, the CIA and U.S. Navy SEALs utilize a vibranium-detecting machine to locate a potential vibranium deposit underwater. The expedition is killed by a group of blue-skinned, water-breathing superhumans led by Namor, with the CIA believing Wakanda to be responsible. Namor confronts Ramonda and Shuri, easily bypassing Wakanda’s advanced security. Blaming Wakanda for the vibranium race, he gives them an ultimatum: deliver him the scientist responsible for the vibranium-detecting machine, or he will attack Wakanda.

Delta Basic Economy Guide: What Comes With Your Ticket

    5 Min Read

So, you’re thinking about flying with Delta Air Lines. Looking at cheap fares online, you may have run across Delta’s Basic Economy.

With a Basic Economy ticket, you should have firm travel dates and don’t expect a lot of extras, because these fares are no-frills flights.

In this article, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about Delta’s Basic Economy seats.

Delta Basic Economy Fares: Everything You Need To Know

We’re not saying that these fares don’t come with restrictions, because they do — a lot of them. But you need to know exactly what they are so you can choose whether the flight is right for you.

    Quick Links

Here’s everything you need to know about what you get with a Delta Basic Economy Fare:

    What Is Delta Basic Economy?

Delta Basic Economy is a no-frills airfare designed to compete with the fares on low budget airlines like WestJet and Allegiant Air.

Basic Economy fares are hard to find on Delta.com, but they can be found pretty easily on the online booking sites like Booking.com, Expedia, Travelocity and Orbit.

As I alluded to earlier, Delta makes them visible there so that they can compete with other budget fares.

What’s The Difference Between Basic Economy And Main Cabin On Delta?

The difference between Basic Economy and Main Cabin on Delta is that you don’t get many of the features available to standard Main Cabin passenger.

That means you don’t get a seat assignment, ticket changes or other amenities.

Let’s talk about that a bit more in the next section on Basic Economy restrictions.

    Restrictions

    • Complimentary carry-on bag. Because you’ll likely board near the end, the overhead compartment space may be limited, but they may gate check your bags for free.
    • Checked bag fee, depending on the route: Please visit Delta’s Baggage and Travel Fees page for details
    • Seat assigned after check-in: Depending on the flight, you may be able to pay for a better seat.
    • No ticket changes or upgrades: The exception is if you’ve booked your flight within the last 24 hours.
    • No same-day confirmed or same-day standby travel changes

    Delta Basic Economy Seating

Because Delta does branded boarding represented by colors, you’ll usually have to pay attention to which color is boarding, but not with Basic Economy.

With those low-cost tickets, you’re basically boarding last on all Delta flights. By the rare chance that the plane is not full and you can spread around, you may be able to move up into a better seat in the cabin.

If not, you’ll typically be seated in what was formerly known as the fifth zone of the plane. Again, you may be able to move up into the Cabin 3, Cabin 2 and Cabin 1 areas depending on availability.

    Can I Bring A Carry-On?

All passengers boarding the main cabin in Basic Economy are allowed to bring a carry-on as well as a personal item.

The carry-on must be able to fit in the overhead bin. Meanwhile, the personal item must be able to fit underneath the seat in front of you.

    Delta Basic Economy Food

While some of Delta’s more priciest seats come with better meals depending on the flight, Basic Economy food consists of Delta’s signature service.

Food: You will get complimentary snacks like Biscoff cookies and peanuts.

Drink: For beverages, you’ll be served non-alcoholic beverages i.e. Starbucks coffee, tea, juice, sodas or water.

If you want more robust food, then Delta’s Basic Economy is not for you.

How To Save With A Delta Basic Economy Fare

There is however one way you can get around the free checked bag fee. If you are a Skymiles credit card holder, you may — and up to eight people on your reservation — be eligible for a free checked bag.

That little perk saves you $30 each way.

    Final Word

To sum it all up, Delta Basic Economy is for people who are OK with not as much legroom as other seats on the plane and last-second seating arrangements. But it’s still a Delta flight.

That means you’ll still get the quality and service you’ve come to know and love on Delta.

To Atlanta is one of the most convenient places to travel to and from. A large part of that is because Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is so accessible.
