When Is Episode 3 Coming Of FX’s Atlanta

That’s when we can expect to see Season 3 episodes, according to comments from FX executive John Landgraf.

He said in a recent interview that the comedy-drama’s third season just wrapped filming. That means Season 4 has begun shooting in earnest.

Landgraf, speaking during the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, said, “We haven’t locked down the scheduling for Season 3 yet as it just finished shooting. It was shot primarily in Europe. It’s in post-production and it’s a lengthy post-production process and part of that is because they’re currently in production of Season 4 in Atlanta. All of the scripts for that season have been written.”

Atlanta was a top-rated show featuring Donald Glover and Lakeith Stanfield. But filming never resumed after Glover lost his father.

The series production team along with actors all are set to travel to Europe, where both Seasons 3 and 4 will reportedly be shot. Filming is expected to begin on April 5.

When Will Atlanta FX Return? Read This

So when will Atlanta return? Glover took to social media in April 2021 to say:

“Atlanta Season 3 comes out probably the beginning of next year.”

Glover made the comments in a random musing released on audio.

The popular show began production in March 2021. Glover signed an eight-figure deal with Amazon that includes his own content channel on Prime.

Both of the next two seasons are being filmed one after the next, which is something that they had planned to do even before the pandemic began.

In early 2020, John Landgraf, chairman of FX Networks, spoke at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena, California.

Landgraf said that the next two seasons will debut in 2021. But not only, that he indicated that Seasons 3 and 4 will be linked as a “Part 1 & 2” arrangement.

What we also know is that Season 3 will be 10 episodes and Season 4 will be eight episodes. If it’s going to be all part of one story arch, it makes sense that the seasons will be all shot in sequence.

According to Esquire magazine, the show’s new seasons hint that they will focus on the music career of Paper Boi, played by the magnificent Brian Tyree Henry.

Landgraf also tipped his hand to let us know that a large part of Seasons 3, 4 or both will be shot in a foreign country.

Eddie Murphy returned to host Saturday Night Live for the first time in 35 years and he killed it. Eddie Murphy brought a certain riskiness and edge we’ve come to know about SNL back to the show.

One of those particular moments happened during his Mr. Rogers skit, which he brought back along with some timely updates.

This time Mr. Rogers does an explainer on gentrification and even racism, all tongue in cheek of course. The biggest laugh, though, came when it mentioned Atlanta.

  • ‘Atlanta FX’ Returns Thursday And We Can’t Wait

    2 Min Read

The second season of “Atlanta FX” will premiere at 10 .m. Thursday, March 1, 2018, bringing Donald Glover, Lakeith Stanfield and Bryan Tyree Henry back to the small screen for an encore.

Also back are Earnest (Earn) Marks and Vanessa (Van) Keifer, who have a child together on the show but are one of those couples that aren’t together but continue to see each other.

“At FX, they didn’t get Earn and Van at all,” Glover told The New Yorker. “I said, ‘This is every one of my aunts—you have a kid with a guy, he’s around, you’re still attracted to him.’ Poor people can’t afford to go to therapy.”

The show promises to have the same fierceness, the same pop as the first season.

Glover, who as auteur of “Atlanta FX” is simultaneously recording another album as Childish Gambino and shooting a new “Star Wars” movie, feels that his TV show should be funny, but for the right reasons.

“I don’t even want them laughing if they’re laughing at the caged animal in the zoo,” he told the New Yorker. “I want them to really experience racism, to really feel what it’s like to be black in America. People come to ‘Atlanta’ for the strip clubs and the music and the cool talking, but the eat-your-vegetables part is that the characters aren’t smoking weed all the time because it’s cool but because they have P.T.S.D.—every black person does. It’s scary to be at the bottom, yelling up out of the hole, and all they shout down is ‘Keep digging! We’ll reach God soon!’ ”

Such insight is why we can’t wait for Thursday night on the FX channel.

  • Atlanta-Filmed ‘The Quad’ Returns To BET On Jan. 23 2018

    1 Min Read
BET’s “The Quad” returns to TV this winter.

Set right here in Atlanta, “The Quad” is BET’s breakout TV series, which debuted last year. The show stars Anika Noni Rose, known for her role in several films as well as the voice behind Disney’s first black princess in “The Princess and the Frog”.

The cast also includes veteran actor Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Jasmine Guy, Jazz Raycole, Peyton Alex Smith and more. Rose stars as Dr. Eva Fletcher, the president of Georgia A&M University, a fictional historically black college.

The show will return for Season 2 on Jan. 23, 2018, the network recently announced. This season the plot takes off at Georgia A&M’s spring semester. Fletcher’s focus is keeping the struggling university solvent while external pressures make the  demise of the school a likely reality.

  • News Anchors Wear #RedForAmanda Day Across U.S.

    2 Min Read

Local news anchor Amanda Davis’ impact was felt far beyond metro Atlanta, where she warmly served court among the region’s viewers for nearly 30 years. On Tuesday, many of her colleagues, many of them whom Davis paved the way for, paid tribute to the CBS 46 broadcaster by donning a red outfit.

Read: Amanda Davis hospitalized after massive stroke

Davis, 62, was at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport last week when she suffered a spontaneous massive stroke while waiting for a flight to go to San Antonio.

Davis was about to board a flight to attend the funeral of her stepfather in San Antonio, according to news accounts.

On social media, especially Twitter, newswomen showed up to work in red to call attention to stroke awareness — and Davis’ legacy.

“Stroke is the 5th leading cause of death in the U.S. About 795,000 people in the U.S. have a stroke each year. #RedForAmanda #StrokeAwareness,” one Twitter user posted.

According to CBS46, Davis has been at WAGA-TV for 26 years. “She has received numerous honors and awards during her career, including: RTDNA Edward R. Murrow Award, ten Southeast Regional Emmy Awards, Georgia Association of Broadcasters Gabby Award and the Atlanta Association of Black Journalists Pioneer of the Year Award.”

A public viewing is set for Tuesday while a funeral will be Wednesday in Cascade.

  • CBS 46 Anchor Sharon Reed Claps Back After Being Called N-Word

    2 Min Read

CBS 46 news anchor Sharon Reed has been in Atlanta about two years now, and she’s learning that the South is, well, the South. Reed, who spent time at a Cleveland news station before coming to Georgia, was understandably riled up Tuesday night during election coverage.

She doesn’t have a dog in the fight over whether the ATL will be led by conservative Mary Norwood or Democrat Keisha Lance-Bottoms, but a viewer’s email to her, calling her out of her name, set her off.

The viewer, Kathy Rae, who Reed insisted by identified, wrote: “You need to be fired for the race baiting comment you made tonight … it’s O.K. for blacks to discuss certain subjects but not white.”

Then things really went off the rails, when Rae wrote: “Really?? You are what I call a N***r not a black person. You are a racist N***r. You are what’s wrong with the world.”

Understandably taken aback, Reed replied “Number 1, you mischaracterized what I said … I didn’t say that white people couldn’t talk about race, but contrary, we think that race is an authentic discussion to have. It’s one we’re having tonight because it’s one that you are having at home and it’s one  that has clearly entered the  Atlanta mayor’s race.”

The incident quickly livened up a rainy Tuesday night around the city and was posted on Reddit within hours of the exchange.

Reed said that the TV station wanted to “keep it real,” but she ended by saying that, “I get it: On December 5, 2017, you think it’s OK to call this journalist a nigger. I don’t, but I  could clap back and say a few things to you, but I won’t. I’ll let your words spread for themselves — and that’ll be the last word.”

Reed kept her word and didn’t bring the matter up for the remainder of the newscast, but she clearly wasn’t over it. On Facebook page, she put the comment up as her header, showing the world that hey, she’s over it, but don’t come for her. Ever. Again.

  • AtlantaFx Season 3 Delayed, Exec Says - 'Atlanta FX' Marks Return Date As March 1

‘Atlanta FX’ Marks Return Date As March 1

    2 Min Read

Donald Glover’s runaway hit “Atlanta” not just introduced us to diverse characters who riffed on the nuances of the city, but it also introduced millions of people to the Atlanta brand.

But after just one season, the show disappeared from the FX schedule. Glover has gone on to produce a critically acclaimed album and gotten a juicy part in the “Star Wars” franchise as a younger Lando Calrissian.

On Friday, the official Twitter account for the show tweeted “3.1,” which we all have taken to mean that on March 1, 2018, the show will return.

The date is not far off from when those connected with the show expected it to return. Co-star Lakeith Stanfield reportedly said that the second seasonwill premiere in February on FX, according to Pitchfork.

It’s not like the show’s hiatus didn’t serve the cast members well.

The show’s other actors have become hot among movie producers, with Lakeith Stanfield stealing some major shine in “Get Out” and “Death Note,” and playing alongside Brian Tyree Henry in “Crown Heights.”

Meanwhile, Zazie Beetz will get some major screen time in “Deadpool” sequel with more on tap.

Glover, for his part, has felt like the long hiatus has been healthy for fans of the hit show.

“I’m not the type of person to rush anything,” he told Fader magazine last fall. “I feel like if you rush it, you’ll start to get something you don’t want and then you start to question why you even liked it. I’m not gonna make anything until it’s ready. But to be completely honest, it’s almost ready. I’m pretty happy with a lot of the things, and I think it’s better than the first season.”

Watch one of Atlanta FX season 1’s funniest moments

Well, we’ll believe it when we see it. And hopefully soon.
