Why You Should Buy A Refurbished Phone

    4 Min Read

Refurbished phones may get a bad rap, but those devices can save you hundreds of dollars. You probably have heard the term “refurbished” and wondered what it means.

This article is going to tell you how you can save a lot of money by buying a refurbished phone.

When you hear the word “refurbished,” you may be turned off completely. I mean, many people have this misconception that a refurbished phone means “less than” or something that is old or malfunctioning.

What Does A Refurbished Phone Mean?

A refurbished phone means that the device has been rebuilt or fixed of its defects. Some people may believe that refurbished phones are all used or pre-owned devices. That’s not true.

Many refurbished phones are “floor models,” which means that they have been on display at retail locations.

The biggest issue with buying refurbished phones is the trust issue: Many people don’t believe that such devices are quality products.

Whether or not you can trust a refurbished device has everything to do with where you buy it and the reputation of the seller. So let’s talk about where you can buy a refurbished phone near you.

Where To Buy Refurbished Phones Near You

Here’s where you can buy refurbished phones you can trust.

    Amazon

    Amazon Renewed refurbished products

Amazon has a program called Amazon Renewed that certifies electronic devices for 90 days.

    Walmart

    Walmart's refurbished program

Walmart also sells refurbished electronics, too. All of the devices include original accessories and come with a 90-day limited warranty.

    Best Buy

With the help of Geek Squad, its internal technical support team, Best Buy has refurbished phones and other electronics. All of the devices are certified as well.

Here’s Why You Should Buy A Refurbished Phone

Here are three things you need to ask yourself before you buy a refurbished product:

    1. What is the seller’s return policy?
    2. Is the refurbished device certified?
    3. Is the device cheaper than a similar item that is brand new?

If you answer yes to all of those three questions, then a refurbished phone should make sense for you.

Looking at those sites, here are phones I found for cheap prices. We’ll start with iPhones, then go to Android phones.

Here Are the Advantages of Buying a Refurbished Phone

Buying a refurbished phone offers several advantages, particularly for budget-conscious or environmentally aware consumers:

    1. Cost Savings

Refurbished phones are significantly cheaper than brand-new models, often costing 20-50% less, depending on the brand, model, and condition.

    2. Quality Assurance

Reputable sellers inspect, test, and repair refurbished phones to ensure they meet functional standards. Many come with warranties, providing peace of mind similar to buying new.

    3. Access to Premium Models

Refurbished options allow buyers to own high-end phones (like the latest iPhone or Samsung Galaxy) at a fraction of the original price, making flagship models more accessible.

Unlike new phones, refurbished models have already been tested and had any factory or usage defects addressed, potentially resulting in more reliable devices.

    4. Environmental Benefits

Opting for a refurbished phone helps reduce electronic waste by giving a second life to a device, contributing to sustainable consumption.

Many refurbished phones come with essentials like chargers or cables, and some sellers offer upgraded accessories as part of the package.

    Final Word

Buying used phones can be quite profitable – if you trade them in or sell them. Along with the wonderful things to eat and do in Atlanta, there are also so awesome places to shop.

In addition to malls, many Atlanta boutiques and consignment shops have daily deals so that you can save money.

Atlanta’s retail scene continues to be a bright spot for the local economy — and that means more sales for everyone!

How To Get Deep Discounts At The Store

You may be wondering how to get deep discounts on items you buy everyday. Although it takes effort, finding deals isn’t brain science. Here are three ways to do it:

    1. Go to the Clearance Section

Shopping out of the season is the #1 to get items for deep discount. The retailers have a vested interest in moving old stuff to clearance so they can make shelf space for new things.

    2. Comparison Shop

If you don’t think you’re getting a good deal, compare the prices between multiple stores. You can do this by going online and doing the following:

    • Pulling up the sales page of each competitor website
    • Subscribing to different retailers and scanning their marketing emails for deals

    3. Shop At The Right Time

Can your purchase wait until sales are abundant? We’re talking about the holidays toward the end of the year or even sales that correspond with a national holiday like July Fourth or Labor Day.

Sometimes, you can score some major deals just from timing your shopping around certain holidays when retailers drop their prices.

    4. Ask the Store Manager

One of the easiest ways to get a discount is to ask the store manager for a discount. They know which products aren’t doing well and they may be willing to cut a deal.

Also, the manager may be able to tip you to the date when another item is set to go on sale.

    Final Words

Coupons can save you big money at the grocery store. If you don’t use them — either the digital or print kind — you’re missing out on some major savings.

You can always save money if you put in the time and effort. The discounts are out there. You just have to find them.

Some stores will have outdated items in a special part of the store. Look for the discounts to save money.

Atlanta’s Lenox Square To Celebrate its 65th Year

    5 Min Read

Atlanta’s premier shopping destination— Lenox Square — is commemorating 65 years in business.

The festivities include a public celebration on Thursday, Aug. 1, featuring remarks by Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, a special proclamation presented by the Atlanta City Council on Monday, Aug. 5, and a $1,000 shopping spree social media contest throughout August.

The mall has come a long way over the years.

“From an initial open-air shopping center with 60 shops to a massive, enclosed community hub featuring nearly 250 stores, Lenox Square has increased its presence and profile over six decades to become the leading retail destination in the Southeast,” Lenox Square General Manager Robin Suggs said in a statement. “We appreciate our community, visitors, staff, and retailers for helping Lenox Square achieve and celebrate 65 years as a landmark in Buckhead and Atlanta.”

    Join the Anniversary Celebrations:

    • Aug. 1 Public Event: The celebration kicks off at 10 a.m. on the upper level between Nike and Apple. Attendees will hear about Lenox Square’s rich history and tremendous impact on Buckhead, Atlanta, and the Southeast from Suggs, Mayor Dickens and Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum. Please RSVP to attend the event here.

Key Milestones over Lenox Square’s 65 Years

Throughout its rich history, Lenox Square has celebrated numerous significant milestones, including:

    • 1956: Ed Noble, a former developer from Kansas City, Mo., and founder of Noble Properties, acquired the site for the mall.
    • 1957: The groundbreaking event for Lenox Square was hosted in July 1957.
    • 1959: Two years later, the mall was completed, and Lenox Square’s grand opening ceremony was held on August 3, 1959.
    • 1960-1963: The magnificent three-level Lenox Square initially boasted an expansive 800,000 square feet of retail space, home to 60 diverse and vibrant tenants. Its original attractions included a lively bowling alley, an indoor golf driving range, and the charming Kresge five and dime store. Prestigious anchors like Rich’s, Davison’s, and the bustling Colonial Stores supermarket added to the mall’s allure. In 1963, the mall added a movie theater on the Market Level.
    • 1970: In the early 1970s, Lenox Square underwent a significant renovation and expansion. A new wing was added, featuring the debut of the prestigious Neiman Marcus, marking its first location outside of Florida and Texas.
    • 1980: Lenox Square embarked on a grand expansion on the south end, unveiling a three-level section with a vibrant food court, replacing the open-air Plaza Court and supermarket. This included a 19-story office building, a 24-story hotel, and a hotel-office parking garage and deck. These additions were conveniently positioned adjacent to MARTA’s Lenox transit station, which began operations in December 1984, linking the mall to the city’s transportation network.
    • 1995: Lenox Square’s next expansion made it the largest shopping center in Georgia at the time. That year, a second story was added above the original Mall Level, bringing the shopping center to 1.457 million square feet.
    • 2007-2014: Neiman Marcus expanded by 52,000 square feet, adding a 36,000-square-foot upper level to connect it to the main mallway. This brought Lenox Square’s total leasable square footage to 1.545 million, accommodating 240 stores and services. In 2014, the mall underwent its latest renovation.
    • 2024: With over 35 million visitors annually, Lenox Square has emerged as a revered hub of commerce and community within the country and will always be a treasured place for generations of Atlantans to come.

    Where To Sell Electronics

    4 Min Read

If you’ve got some old electronic devices that no longer work or you no longer need, you should consider selling them. Yes, that old iPod or Walkman can be sold or cash.

It’s easier than ever today to make money online by selling your used items, including electronics. The good news is your don’t have to go to the local mall to make a transaction; it can all be done online.

Before selling your electronics, remember to:

First, Wipe Your Data Off Your Device

It’s up to you to ensure all personal data is removed from the devices before selling them. The last thing you want is someone with access to your personal data because you were too lazy to erase your device.

Where To Sell Your Old Electronics

In this article, I’m going to show you where you can sell your old electronics.

There are several options for selling old electronics, depending on your preferences and the condition of the items. Here are some common avenues:

    Online Marketplaces

You already know about Amazon no doubt, but what about the tons of other online marketplaces out there that allow you to sell stuff online? Let’s take a look:

    eBay

An online auction and shopping website eBay allows you to list your electronics for sale. You get to decide whether to auction the item off to the highest bidder or set up a traditional sale with a set price.

    Facebook Marketplace

Facebook is for more than making friends, it’s also for making money. Facebook Marketplace is a platform for buying and selling items locally within your community.

In Atlanta, people are selling just about everything you can think of on the site.

    Gazelle

Gazelle.com is a website that buys used electronics, offering quotes based on the condition of the items.
Swappa: A marketplace specifically for buying and selling used electronics like smartphones and laptops.

    Craigslist

    Craigslist Atlanta

Websites like Craigslist or Gumtree allow you to list items for sale locally. Here’s how I was able to sell my iPhone on Craigslist.

    • Go to Craigslist.com and click on the “Post” button in the top right corner.
    • Choose the location (city of Atlanta, OTP East, OTP West, etc.)
    • Fill out the form explaining the posting title, description and ZIP Code.
    • A map will pop up, allowing you to add your location and cross street for reference.
    • Next it’s time to add images to your post (the more images, the better your post will likely do).
    • Now it’s time to pay $5 to $25 depending on whether it’s a service or job posting.
    craigslist listing Atlanta

You can pay via credit card or PayPal. Once payment is complete, you’ll receive an email with a link that allows you to click and publish.

    Trade-in Programs

There are many websites with trade-in programs for your electronics. Apple Trade-In and the Best Buy Trade-In programs are two of the best who make it easy.

Want to ditch an old phone? Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T are three wireless carriers that have trade-in programs where you can exchange your old electronics for store credit or a discount on a new purchase.

Aside from trade-ins, you can buy used phones in the area as well.

    Recycling Centers and Garage Sales

If your electronics are old and no longer functional, consider recycling them. Many electronic retailers and recycling centers accept old electronics for proper disposal.

You can also find buyers for your electronic items by taking advantage of community sales events like estate sales and garage sales.

To sell your old electronics directly to individuals, you can also look up local flea markets, or swap meets in your area.

    Final Word

Remember to check in with local electronics stores, as some may buy used electronics or offer trade-in programs.

When you list your old electronics for sale, make sure to provide clear and accurate descriptions of the item’s condition.

And finally, be super-cautious when meeting people for local transactions, and consider using secure payment methods for online sales to protect yourself and the buyer.

    Best Mattress Stores In Atlanta

    7 Min Read

Of all the important things you have to do today, sleep is perhaps the most vital. That’s why you need a good mattress and now. Are you in the market for a new, comfortable mattress?

We’re going to show you the best mattress stores in Atlanta and what real people have to say about them, in case you want to purchase one of their products.

What Company Sells The Best Mattress?

While there has been considerable expert analysis done on the best mattress brands, much of it depends on your individual preferences, weight, body frame and other personal factors.

We have researched the top mattresses that consumers use for restful sleep.

Here Are The Best Mattress Stores In Atlanta

The mattress industry is the only one that is literally dependent on people who are asleep! That doesn’t mean it’s hard to know quality from less-than-good mattress.

Let’s just say right away, that there are some great mattress options on Amazon that may be hard to beat in price:

The Difference Between Foam vs. Spring vs. Gel Mattresses

A spring mattress is more conventional: It has a spring in it. A memory foam mattress is good for cradling support as it yields to the curvatures and indentations created by your body. A gel mattress has been pumped with gel to assist in internal temperature cooling.

Now let’s get into what Atlanta has to offer in terms of mattress stores:

    Sleep Number

    3435 Lenox Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30326 | (404) 467-2454

    best mattress stores in Atlanta

Here’s what one Google reviewer says about Sleep Number: “Very informative trip. Cody was very helpful and knowledgeable. We appreciate the time he spent with us and recommend buying from sleep number.”

    Mattress Firm Ansley

    1544 Piedmont Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30324 | (404) 685-3089

Here’s what one Google reviewer says about the Mattress Firm Ansley: “I Visited this location to look for a new mattress with a limited budget as a gift for my son who has back problems. The manager “Nic” was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and we were able to purchase a set without breaking the bank. I would recommend this location to anyone who would like to purchase a new Mattress without being pressured to spend way more than you can afford. They are flexible and will do everything to accommodate your budget without sacrificing quality.”

    Mattress Firm Midtown

    650 Ponce De Leon Ave NE Bldg 800 Ste A, Atlanta, GA 30308 | (404) 815-9600

Here’s what one Google reviewer says about the Mattress Firm Midtown: “Romeo was outstanding. Walked me through different options to gauge what was the best mattress for me, talking me through how each mattress made me feel—especially important since I’ve had a lower back injury. I can’t say enough good things about the selection, prices, and customer service. When it comes to mattresses, I don’t see myself doing business with anyone but Romeo in the future.”

    Casper

650 North Avenue NE Unit S203, Atlanta, GA 30308 |

Here’s what one Google reviewer says about the Casper: “I’m usually not the type to write a review, but my experience at this store was so awesome that I decided to share! The staff was amazing! Quintin, was my sales person and he was very helpful, kind, and knowledgeable. I tend to ask a lot of questions and he patiently answered all of them. He also didn’t pressure me into making a purchase, which is a plus, as I usually dread going into mattress stores because of this. Quintin is now my go to guy for all things Casper!”

    Mattress Outlet | Atlanta

    1335 Chattahoochee Ave NW, Atlanta, GA 30318 | (404) 355-7606

Here’s what one Google reviewer says about the Mattress Outlet: “Love this Store!!! No pressure and to the point. Some friendly pointers as this is not a regular retail store- it’s a true factory outlet. Everything is sold As Is. No refunds, No exchanges and No warranties. Be prepared to arrange your own delivery/tie down yourself in addition to getting your scores home. You have 7 days from when you buy. PROS: 1. You Save alot of $$$ off retail 50 to 70%. 2. Name brand mattresses. 3. Easy shopping experience. 4. Knowledgable and professional. 5. No sales fluff or smoke. Direct. CONS: 1. Very hard to get them on the phone. 2. Very small staffing. (I’m sure that’s why it’s hard to get them on the phone from what I saw while I was there.) 3. What you see is what you have to choose from. They don’t have stacks of the same identical stuff in back.”

    Mattress Firm

    3158 Peachtree Rd, Atlanta, GA 30305 |  (404) 869-0510

Here’s what one Google reviewer says about the Mattress Firm: “Rodney helped me, and he was amazing! He was super helpful. Greeted me, remembered me, and took me directly to the product I was interested in, as soon as I walked in. I didn’t have my physical card with me and needed to use Apple Pay (which they don’t support). He was so patient and accommodating, and he came up with a work around that allowed me to make a web payment! Couldn’t have been happier with my experience.”

    Original Mattress Factory

    3230 Peachtree Rd Suite #100, Atlanta, GA 30305 | (404) 237-5778

Here’s what one Google reviewer says about the Original Mattress Factory: “Absolutely amazing customer service from beginning to end. Having been a previous customer, I was happy to be updated with all of the ways things have improved since I last purchased. Al was exceptionally friendly & helpful…he knew the answers to all of our questions, and didn’t sell us on anything. The product sells itself, and his confidence & product knowledge were an excellent backdrop.”

While you can certainly shop online for a mattress, nothing beats touch. So visit your local mattress store for a brand you may have seen online. Once you try it out, you’ll know it’s the one for you.

When Is The Best Month To Shop For A Mattress?

When it comes to the best times to buy a mattress, manufacturers are typically trying to get rid of their old inventory around March and April. The reason is because new products come in around May and June, which is when most people are out shopping due to the nicer weather.

You can also look to shop around the Christmas holidays, where sales are plentiful.

How Frequently Should A Mattress Be Replaced?

If you’re only sleeping on your mattress (for the most part), you should be able to go up to 10 years on a quality mattress. Of course, there are a lot of variables, such as kids and pets.

Around year eight, you should look for signs of wear and determine whether it’s time to start shopping for a new mattress or now.

    Final Word

Getting a mattress that you can actually sleep on is very important in today’s hectic world. Do your research and choose from one of top brands listed above.

With all of the traffic and long days at work, nothing beats great sleep. It may be hard to accomplish that if you don’t have something nice to sleep on.

Looking to shop? Check out the best malls in Atlanta

Along with the many things to eat in the city, you can also find some top-notch stores for shopping.

In addition to malls, many Atlanta boutiques and consignment shops have daily deals so that you can save money.
