  • Woman opens chipmunk restaurant in Atlanta

This Atlanta Food Writer Created A Restaurant For A Chipmunk

    2 Min Read

The coronavirus pandemic has no doubt caused upheaval in the restaurant industry, but it has also upended food writers in a very real way.

One Atlanta food writer has done what she can to restore some sense of normalcy — at least what they can mean today — by doing what she does best: restaurant stuff.

Atlanta Woman Opens Doorstep ‘Restaurant’ For Chipmunk

Angela Hansberger created a little restaurant on her doorstep for a chipmunk, who visits to dine in every day.

The eatery consists of a small table and miniature utensils and napkins that you would find in any other eating establishment.

Hansberger dutifully changes the menu each day, offering the chipmunk anything from veggie pizza to imitation sushi with walnut wontons and more.

For his part, the chipmunk, which Hansberger has nicknamed “Thelonious Monk,” often pays for his meal with a little stash he brings with him to the table.

“The reviews have been great,” she tells CBS News. “One day he came up with this little tiny bundle – waded up leaves – and put it on the table. So, I take it to mean he brought a tip.”

Since the first couple months of the pandemic, many Atlanta restaurants have clawed their way back. These local eateries have reopened and are serving food.
