Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Passengers Now Can Use CLEAR

    3 Min Read

Travelers departing or arriving in Atlanta have a new way to speed through security lines: CLEAR has expanded its services at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

The biometric security company has introduced expedited identity verification lanes at the international terminal, providing an enhanced travel experience.

    CLEAR Expands To Atlanta Airport

“With our new lanes in the international terminal, our ambassadors are ready to offer a faster, more predictable, and secure journey for Atlanta passengers as travel continues to grow,” said CLEAR CEO Caryn Seidman Becker in a statement.

This expansion aligns with increasing travel demand and offers Atlanta passengers a streamlined and efficient option for navigating airport security.

A lot of travelers not interested in paying for expedited travel may know little about CLEAR. So, let’s explain the service a bit so you can know it.

You can apply for CLEAR online, where you’ll be prompted to pay the $199 fee.

What Is CLEAR and How Does It Help Airline Passengers?

CLEAR is a biometric identification service that helps expedite security processes at airports, sports venues, and other locations by verifying a passenger’s identity through fingerprint or iris scans instead of traditional ID checks. Here’s how it benefits airport passengers:

    Key Benefits:

    1. Faster Security Clearance:
      • CLEAR allows passengers to skip long ID verification lines at airport security checkpoints. Members can proceed directly to the physical screening line, saving significant time during busy travel periods.
    2. Seamless Integration with TSA PreCheck:
      • Passengers who combine CLEAR with TSA PreCheck experience an even quicker process, as they bypass the standard ID check and also access expedited physical screening (e.g., no need to remove shoes or laptops).
    3. Ease of Use:
      • After enrolling in CLEAR, members simply scan their biometrics (fingerprint or iris) at designated kiosks, eliminating the need for physical IDs or boarding passes during the identity verification step.
    4. Wider Availability:
      • CLEAR is available at over 50 airports and growing, along with other venues like stadiums, making it beneficial for frequent travelers and sports fans alike.
    5. Membership Perks:
      • Members often receive other benefits, such as discounts on additional services and family plans allowing kids under 18 to accompany them for free.

    Cost:

CLEAR membership costs approximately $189 per year, though discounts are often available for airline loyalty members, credit card holders, or frequent flyer programs.

    Final Word

By significantly reducing time spent in security lines and offering a smoother travel experience, CLEAR is particularly advantageous for frequent travelers or those navigating busy airports

Not only is it the world’s busiest airport, but it’s state-of-the-art in every way. If you’re interested in traveling around Atlanta via car or even on scooter, here’s what to know.

  • Should the Atlanta Falcons start Michael Penix and bench Kirk Cousins?

Matt Ryan: ‘You’ve Got To Stick With Kirk Cousins’ — For Now

    3 Min Read

After the Atlanta Falcons lost their third-straight game that looked a lot like quarterback ineptitude, many fans in Falcons Nation are getting vocal about making a change.

The burning question that Falcons fan want to know if whether its time to bench Kirk Cousins, who was paid $180 million for a four-year contract, which includes a $50 million signing bonus and $100 million guaranteed. The contract’s average annual value is $45 million.

Should the Falcons Bench Kirk Cousins for Penix?

Future Hall of Famer and former Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan says, “I think you’ve got to stick with Kirk.”

Ryan’s rationale is that the Falcons face a Vikings defense with defensive coordinator Brian Flores, “all the different packages that he has from a blitz perspective.”

Ryan didn’t give a ringing endorsement for Cousins over the long haul of the season or even next week’s game.

“If it goes bad and it’s not kind of the first half that you want, I know Raheem has said that he’s not going to make a change at this point, but I think that they’d be apt to make an in-game change. It’s unfortunate because I think Kirk has been a really good player for a long time, but he’s just really struggled over the last couple of weeks.”

The Issue With Kirk Cousins’ Contract

Cousins’ contract with the Falcons will loom large over whether to keep him or trade him after the season. Of course, it also depends on Penix’s readiness.

    Details of the contract:

    • The contract was signed on March 11, 2024
    • The contract includes a potential out before the 2026 season
    • The contract makes Cousins the 14th highest-paid quarterback in the NFL

    Impact on Cousins’ career earnings:

    • If Cousins plays out the contract, his career earnings will be just over $411.6 million
    • Cousins is now second on the list of highest-earning players in NFL history, behind only Aaron Rodgers

    Other notable details:

    • Cousins was coming off a season-ending Achilles injury
    • Cousins’ contract guarantees $100 million

Can the Falcons Still Win the NFC South?

Yes, the Falcons can still win the NFC South, particularly because they swept the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier in the year. Here’s how the standings currently look.

    Standings

    NFC SOUTHWL
    Atlanta Falcons Falcons66
    Tampa Bay Buccaneers Buccaneers66
    New Orleans Saints Saints48
    Carolina Panthers Panthers39

    Final Word

Cousins is known for his strong accuracy as a passer. Over his career, he has consistently ranked among the top quarterbacks in completion percentage. His ability to place the ball where his receivers can make plays is one of his defining traits. This is especially evident on shorter, intermediate routes, where Cousins thrives in delivering precise throws.

He is experiencing a slump that he must get out of if he’s going to lead the Falcons to the playoffs.

How To Rent Your House To Earn Extra Income

    5 Min Read
Have you ever thought about renting your home out to a film production company? Atlanta, Georgia, is a movie mecca, so it’s easy to find projects that need a location. When you take a look at your home, you may not see extra money, but that’s exactly what it can be. All you have to do is rent your your home for services that are in demand. One thing that may be in need near you are filming locations. Your house no doubt is the largest purchase you’ve ever made. Now it’s time for the big pay back. Check out these ways that you could rent out your home to earn extra money.

How To Rent Your House To Earn Extra Money

Not only are these methods fairly easy in a city like Atlanta, but this can work in any city in America.

Let’s look at five steps you must do to rent your home and be successful:

    1. Make Sure You’re Landlord Material

It may sound strange, but just because you have a home for rent doesn’t mean you’re a good landlord.

It’s actually a lot of work, especially in the beginning.
Lots of legal paperwork as well as physical labor.

Of course, you can always hire a property manager. That will drew up your time and mind, but that will also eat into your bottom line.

Here are some of the tasks of a landlord:
    • Take care of repairs
    • Handle all maintenance
    • Pay insurance & property taxes
    • Collect rent
    • Get along with the tenant
If you’re up to the tasks, you can make some real money by renting your home.

    2. Clean Up

The first thing you’re going to have to do is get your home professionally cleaned or gather some friends and family for a big scrub-down.

Only with a thorough cleaning can you see what kind of condition the home is in. Only then can you see how much rent your house can fetch on the open market.

You will want to scrub baseboards, mop floors, wipe down walls, blinds and wash curtains. Once it’s all clean, you may decide to make some modest improvements.

    3. Upgrades

If you have some fixtures or appliances that work but have become dated, you may choose to upgrade them.

We’re not talking about major upgrades, but smaller DIY projects that could modernize the space and persuade people to stay there.

A fresh coat of paint to a room or two is just one suggestion. Here are some nice touches you could add:

Diamond Brite Paint 31150 5-Gallon Oil Base All Purpose Enamel Paint Grey – $109

    Buy It

Solar Lights Bright Pathway Outdoor Garden Stakes – $56

Dynasty Hardware Door Handles (6 Pack) – $104

    Buy It

    4. Market Your House

Now it’s time to market your house to see if you can rent it out. Make sure you use words like “gourmet,” and “amenities.” Of course, always be honest in the descriptions you use.

Of course you could post some flyers in the surrounding area, but today it’s way easier to market online.

What Is The Best Website For Rental Homes?

Here are some of the best sites to list your house for rent:
Believe it or not, some Realtors will help homeowners to rent out their homes. Of course, the agent will charge a commission.

    5. Choose The Right Tenant

The best experience you could possibly have as a landlord has everything to do with choosing the right tenant.
If you rent your home to someone that likes to throw parties all the time, or is a smoker, or takes in rescue animals, you may Ed up regretting it.
It’s mandatory that you screen all potential renters by running a background check. In addition to verifying employment and credit history, you should also ask for multiple references.

And note: For security reasons, all of this should be done before you meet them in person.

    Last Thought

Renting out your home is one of the biggest financial decisions you can make.
I’d highly suggest you familiarize yourself with state tenants rights and landlord rights so you know how to operate within the law.

By doing your homework and due diligence, it can be a profitable endeavor.

Atlanta’s Real Estate Market To Be Among Nation’s Hottest In 2025

    5 Min Read

Early 2025 is anticipated to bring more competition among buyers as market activity accelerates in the Atlanta area. This will likely lead to faster transactions and fewer opportunities for negotiation compared to the slower pace observed in late 2024.

The indications are that it may be an opportune time to jump into the real estate market if you’re looking for a home in metro Atlanta. According to Zillow, the city has one of the nation’s best real estate market.

Atlanta came in at number No. 7 out of the 50 largest U.S. metro areas, according to Zillow’s latest figures.

Atlanta Real Estate Market: Expect Some Heat

Home prices in Atlanta are forecasted to grow modestly. Buyers should keep an eye on mortgage rate trends, as higher rates could affect affordability, making it essential to act strategically, around 1.5% by mid-2025, reflecting a balanced market with steady appreciation.

With increased market activity and growing buyer demand, sellers can expect quicker sales in 2025. However, setting competitive prices will remain crucial as not all homes may see significant appreciation.

Here are the hottest markets forecast for 2025:

Why Is Atlanta’s Housing Market So Hot?

Atlanta’s housing market is bustling  because the metro area continues to benefit from unique factors that make it one of the most attractive cities in the Southeast.

Job growth: Atlanta has a diverse economy that continually finds new ways to grow. In 2022, you can expect the tech sector to maintain if not exceed its growth while companies continue to choose the metro stores to bedrock their home offices and headquarters.

Looking for employment? Here’s how to get hired in Atlanta.

Population growth: Despite its fullness, the city continues to attract a crowd as job seekers and empty nesters flow into the suburbs around Atlanta.

The reason people from the West Coast and Northeast continue to find Atlanta attractive is because of the amount of house they can get for the price.

Housing affordability: Even in a pandemic, Atlanta continues to be an attractive market for families looking for relatively cheap property as well as those interested in investing in rental property in 2022.

That is especially the case when 50% of the households in the metro area rent rather than own

How To Find A Home In Atlanta

The way to go about finding a home in Atlanta is to begin your search by following three steps:

    Get Your Credit Score Up

Before you’re ready to buy a home, you’re going to need to get your credit score into shape. Anything under 600 will put you in a high-interest category. The way to avoid this is to take the steps months ahead to raise your credit score. You can even boost your credit score by paying your bills.

Read up on some ways to increase your credit score.

    Get Pre-Approved For A Mortgage

Once you’re pre-approved for a mortgage, your lender and any Realtor you decide to work with will take you more seriously and devote the much-needed time and energy your home search requires.

Here’s how to get pre-approved in Atlanta.

    Work With A Realtor

Once you’re pre-approved for a mortgage, it’s time to find a Realtor. Do yourself a favor and ask those closest to you if they have any friends you have used Realtors. Referrals go a long way in the real estate industry.

Make your decision based on someone who really knows the area you want to buy in. When you talk with them, have a conversation in which you ask the questions that will let you know how knowledgeable the Realtor is.

Some questions you might ask include:

    • How long have you lived in the city?
    • If you could afford to live anywhere here, what neighborhood would you choose?
    • What is the most important aspect of a property in your opinion?
    • What are the best schools in the city in your opinion (if you have kids)?

Some of the larger realty names you should consider are:

    • Keller Williams
    • Harry Norman
    • REMax
    • Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices
    • Coldwell Banker
    • SWG Realty
    • Boardwalk Realty
    • Palmer House Properties

What To Know Before Buying a Smart TV: Tips And Tricks

Before you purchase a smart TV, there are a few things you need to know.

    Set a Budget

Decide on a price range based on your needs and financial situation to avoid overspending on unnecessary features.

    Look for Sales and Discounts

Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Seasonal Sales: These events often offer significant discounts.

Check for end-of-model-year sales when retailers clear inventory for new releases.

Also, retailers like Best Buy often sell open-box or refurbished TVs at a discount. These items are usually inspected and come with warranties.

Check if the TV requires additional purchases like a streaming device, mounting brackets, or soundbars, and budget accordingly.

    3. Compare Prices Online

Use price comparison tools or websites like CamelCamelCamel (for Amazon) or Google Shopping to ensure you’re getting the best deal.

Some retailers offer price matching or are open to negotiation, especially for high-ticket items.

    6. Buy the Right Size

Choose a TV size that fits your space. Larger TVs cost more, so avoid overpaying for a size you don’t need.

Determine the essential features you need (e.g., 4K resolution, streaming apps, or voice control) and skip extras that you won’t use.

Mid-range TVs often offer great quality at a fraction of the price of premium brands. Check reviews to identify budget-friendly options with excellent performance.

    9. Use Store Credit and Cashback

Take advantage of retailer credit cards, cashback offers, or loyalty programs to save money or earn rewards.

    Consider Older Models

Last year’s models often provide similar features as the latest ones but at a much lower price.

    Check for Energy Efficiency

An energy-efficient TV can save you money on electricity bills over time. Look for the Energy Star label.

    Final Word

With these strategies, you can find a smart TV that meets your needs without straining your budget!

Spirit Airlines Files for Bankruptcy: What It Means for Customers

    6 Min Read

Budget carrier Spirit Airlines has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, the airline announced on Monday. Read on to find out what it means for Atlanta customers and more.

Spirit Airlines has faced years of mounting financial losses, a failed merger, and changing consumer expectations.

Spirit Airlines Bankruptcy: Will Customers Be Able To Still Fly?

Customers of Spirit Airlines flights will still be able to fly and the airline will operate as normal at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta.

In a statement early Monday, the airline announced it had reached a prearranged agreement with its bondholders, which includes $300 million in debtor-in-possession financing to help it navigate the bankruptcy process. Spirit expects to emerge from bankruptcy by the first quarter of next year. The airline also assured that its vendors and aircraft lessors would not be affected. In a court filing, Spirit listed its assets and liabilities as being between $1 billion and $10 billion.

Despite the filing, Spirit emphasized that operations would continue as usual, and customers could still book flights.

“The most important thing to know is that you can continue to book and fly now and in the future,” Spirit CEO Ted Christie wrote in a letter to customers. He added that customers could use tickets, credits, and loyalty points without disruption to choose the best times to fly.

Spirit Airlines first began serving Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta in 2012, marking a significant milestone in its expansion into the Southeastern United States. The airline’s arrival in Atlanta was part of its broader strategy to expand its network of low-cost, no-frills flights to major airports across the country. Atlanta, with its massive passenger volume and proximity to key domestic and international markets, presented an important opportunity for Spirit to capture a share of both leisure and business travelers in the region.

At the time, Spirit entered the market offering direct flights to popular vacation destinations, including Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, and Chicago. The airline quickly became a major competitor to other budget carriers serving the city, such as Southwest Airlines, and traditional full-service carriers like Delta, which is headquartered in Atlanta and has a dominant presence at ATL.

What Is Chapter 11 Bankruptcy and What Happens To The Company?

When a company files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, it is essentially seeking reorganization under the protection of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. Chapter 11 allows the company to continue operating while it restructures its finances and attempts to return to profitability. Here’s what typically happens when a company files for Chapter 11:

    1. Automatic Stay

    • Immediate Protection from Creditors: Once the Chapter 11 petition is filed, an automatic stay goes into effect. This halts most collection actions against the company, including lawsuits, foreclosures, and debt collection efforts. It gives the company a breathing period to reorganize without the pressure of creditors seizing assets or taking legal action.

    2. Reorganization Plan

    • Restructuring the Business: The company must propose a reorganization plan that outlines how it intends to repay creditors, reduce debts, and restructure its operations. This may involve:
      • Debt renegotiation (lowering amounts owed or extending repayment periods)
      • Selling assets or subsidiaries to raise capital
      • Cutting costs, which may include laying off employees or closing unprofitable locations
      • Renegotiating contracts with suppliers, lessors, and other business partners
    • The plan is typically developed in collaboration with creditors, legal advisors, and sometimes a court-appointed trustee or committee. The company remains in control of operations as the debtor-in-possession (DIP) unless the court appoints a trustee.

    3. Creditor Meetings and Voting

    • The company must hold meetings with its creditors, who will be grouped into classes (e.g., secured creditors, unsecured creditors, and equity holders). These creditors will vote on the proposed reorganization plan.
    • The plan can be modified and negotiated, and creditors can object to parts of it. The company must get approval from the majority of the creditors in each class, and the plan must be confirmed by the bankruptcy court.

    4. Operational Continuity

    • Unlike Chapter 7 bankruptcy, which involves liquidation, Chapter 11 allows the company to keep operating its business. For example, employees can continue working, and customers can continue making purchases. The company can also maintain existing contracts and vendor relationships, although some may be renegotiated.

    5. Financial Reporting and Oversight

    • During the bankruptcy process, the company must submit regular financial reports to the court and creditors. This helps ensure transparency and allows creditors to monitor how the company is progressing with its reorganization efforts.

    6. Debtor-in-Possession (DIP) Financing

    • Many companies that file for Chapter 11 seek DIP financing—a special form of financing provided by lenders during bankruptcy. This financing helps the company maintain liquidity and keep operating while it restructures. DIP financing often has priority over existing debt, meaning it must be paid back before other creditors.

    7. Plan Confirmation and Exit

    • If the reorganization plan is approved by creditors and the court, the company will move forward with implementing the plan. Once the company has completed the necessary steps—such as debt reductions or asset sales—it can exit bankruptcy.
    • Upon exiting, the company may emerge with a significantly altered financial structure, potentially stronger and more focused on its profitable areas. In some cases, the company may remain in debt but on more manageable terms.

    8. Failure to Reorganize

    • If the company cannot reach an agreement with creditors, or if the reorganization plan is not feasible, it may be forced to liquidate its assets. This may result in filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, which involves the selling off of the company’s assets to pay creditors and winding down its operations.

    Key Takeaways:

    • Chapter 11 is for reorganization, not liquidation. The goal is for the company to return to profitability and pay off its debts over time.
    • The company stays in control of operations (unless the court appoints a trustee).
    • Creditors are given the opportunity to vote on the reorganization plan, which must be approved by the court.
    • DIP financing can help the company remain operational during the process.

This process is often used by large corporations that have significant debts but still have the potential to turn things around, rather than shutting down completely. It’s also frequently used by businesses that need time to negotiate with creditors, restructure, and emerge as a more viable entity.

    Final Word

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is one of Spirit’s key airports in the Southeastern U.S., both as a point of origin and as a destination for travelers. Despite the significant presence of Delta Air Lines, Spirit has been able to capitalize on the demand for low-cost travel in the area. The airport’s location, serving as a gateway to both domestic and international destinations, has helped Spirit offer a variety of routes to passengers.
