And yes I’ve received the wrong order,, but the waitress immediately corrected my order. My favorite is their Red Velet Chicken & Waffles…I suggest that you try the Fried Catfish! The service is great, but can’t expect the wait staff to be at your beckoning call in a crowded restaurant! The atmosphere is exactly what you’d expect at a restaurant lounge! Remember you get what you give…I get great service because I respect what the wait staff have to do & I tip well for good service! Read the reviews, but decide for yourself!”Chicken+Beer

It is even more awesome that they offer many flights of beer and we took that opportunity to try some local favorites. We tried some local Atlanta brews and each one of them was a treat of its own. Our favorite was sweet water brewery. We loved the chicken and waffles meal and we love just the fried chicken. Everything tasted moist and delicious and the service was impeccable. Our waiter really showed a sense of Southern pride when we were ordering and made sure to ask us where we were traveling to.”

Here’s what one reviewer says about Hattie B’s Hot Chicken. “Oh so yummies! I could have just had the waffles and been palatably pleased. I also had the chicken sandwich. Listed as “hot” chicken sandwich, I requested “mild”. Had I not had the forethought, there is no way that I would have been able to eat the sandwich, as I even had to drink the chicken pieces into the blue cheese to eat it. Heat is an understatement. The coleslaw, which comes on the chicken sandwich was a bit too vinegary for my taste but wasn’t completely off putting. I would get the sandwich again, as well as recommend it to others. Just get an extra lemonade to wash it down. Drink sizes are on the smaller scale.
Helen’s Hot Chicken
200 Edgewood Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30303 | (404) 731-3369
Helen’s Hot Chicken on Edgewood also has some great chicken and waffles.

I don’t live near this establishment so I had to wait for the right opportunity to make the trip to the city. Boy am I glad I did! This lace did not disappoint! I ordered their chicken sandwich which was AMAZING!!!! My cousin ordered the chicken and waffles. Can, we just take a moment to talk about how good the waffle was?!?!? Their waffle was so yummy with a nice chew that it put all other waffles to shame! I highly recommend trying this place, even if you don’t live near the city it’s worth the drive! I demolished the sandwich without getting the chance to take a pic. But I screen shot my cousins video of his food.”

We had the red velvet waffle, Nashville hot chicken sandwich with waffle fries, & the Fab 4 (eggs, bacon, potatoes, & waffle). I’m sorry I have no pictures but we were starving once the food came out! I will definitely go again to try the salmon & lamb chops served after 4pm.”

This is the only chicken and waffles dish on your list that includes collard greens inside the waffle. Yum!
The new restaurant replaces Richards Southern Fried, which was sunset when the pandemic began.
South City Kitchen

With rising food prices everywhere, it’s hard to beat a free food forest. That’s exactly what Atlanta, Georgia has going for it. Do you know where the Atlanta food forest is and what’s in it?
This article will tell you everything you need to know about Atlanta’s food forest.
If you’re thinking about visiting the endeavor sometime soon, here’s everything you need to know.
Everything You Need To Know About Atlanta’s Food Forest
With food insecurity seen as a growing threat to America’s kitchens, a food forest comes at a crucial time. But why now? And why Atlanta?
It all began to grow roots in 2016. That’s when the Atlanta Mayor’s Office requested federal funding to address food deserts in the city’s most vulnerable neighborhoods. A seven-acre plot of land was found in southeast Atlanta.
When Atlanta’s City Council passed a resolution approving the nation’s first food forest, many critics scratched their heads thinking it wouldn’t work. An Atlanta food forest? No way, they said.
Indeed, the city is used to enormous plans shriveling up due to less than stellar community support or political infighting. But this time, it was different.
Atlanta Food Forest: A History
The 7-acre plot used to be owned by the Morgans, a couple who farmed the land. In 2016, the Conservation Fund bought the property.
Vast swaths of Atlanta were deemed “food deserts,” which meant that they were underserved when it came to affordable and sustainable foods. This was not only an economic problem, but a health issue and social dilemma.
What Is A Food Desert?
The government defines a food desert as low-income communities located more than 1 mile from fresh fruits and vegetables. Fast food restaurants don’t count.
What was happening in Atlanta’s Lakewood-Browns Mill community met all the definitions of a food desert. Also, more than 60% of the residents there lived below the poverty line.
The lack of grocery stores in the most needy areas of Atlanta also contributed to the problem. Thus, Atlanta officials were pushed to support a food forest that would continue to grow and feed the city’s impoverished communities.
So basically, the city’s nonstop development has forced the hands of city planners to come up with a way to feed thousands of community residents stuck in food desserts around the city.
Is The Food At The Atlanta Food Forest Free?
One of the biggest questions you may have is whether the food at the Atlanta food forest is free. A more appropriate question is “Is the food ready for harvest?”
The project has come to fruition thanks to a grant from the U.S Forest Service’s Community Forest Program.
Fruit-bearing trees, herbs and other crops have been planted continuously over the last year, much of it by local schoolchildren. Much of the food is available for foraging by Atlanta residents for free.
With that being said, there is an orderly arrangement that you must adhere to in order to take part in the harvest.
Who Can Harvest At Atlanta’s Food Forest?
Anybody can harvest at Atlanta’s food forest, but there is a hierarchy that you must follow. This is how the arrangement operates:
- Participating neighbors get first dibs on harvested crops, You can become a participating neighbor by emailing BrownsMillCommunityGarden@gmail.com.
- Volunteers take part in the harvest every Wednesday and second Saturday
- Finally, Atlanta residents can harvest at the “Community Harvest Table”
Where Is The Atlanta Food Forest Located?
The city’s urban forest is actually situated atop City of Atlanta parkland in the southwest portion of the city. The Atlanta food forest is located at 2217 Browns Mill Road, Atlanta, GA. 30315. Here’s a map to help you find the spot.
What Kinds Of Food Are Available In Atlanta’s Food Forest?
The Atlanta food forest grows a variety of fresh produce, including fruits, nuts, vegetables, herbs, and mushrooms. All of the bounty will be available for public consumption.
What Do People Say About The Food Forest?
Here are some comments from people who have visited the Atlanta food forest.
— Wonderful the way for the neighborhood to have free food to eat in these trying times where money is not always plentiful in areas such as this. I love my neighborhood. thank God for the hands that have prepared this garden I’m sure those who utilize this farm appreciate it.
— Best kept secret for children who like the great outdoors and have a gift for old fashion gardening and fun with nature. Caring encounters with the people who care for the Park.— This place is so cool! You can learn a lot of things and it’s amazing how they grow the foods and herbs with no pesticides and no chemicals! Honestly it’s a blessing that they have gotten this far in just a few months so I give this place 5 stars!

Pizza is going high-tech with the entry of PizzaForno in the Atlanta market. Aiming to be one of the best pizza places in Atlanta, the company, known as North America’s first 24/7 automated pizzeria, is expanding into Georgia.
PizzaForno is opening three locations in metro Atlanta with the first one set to be in Atlanta’s popular Buckhead neighborhood at 3861 Roswell Road. The two additional locations will open around metro Atlanta later in May.
When Is PizzaForno Opening In Buckhead?
A Grand Opening event will take place at the 3861 Roswell Road location in Atlanta’s popular Buckhead neighborhood on Saturday, May 6.
The opening event is from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature free pizza, family-friendly music, games, freebies and giveaways. Prizes will be given for games and an “Enter to Win” contest drawing will be held for two lucky winners to win free pizza for an entire year.
The three entrepreneurs responsible for this expansion are business partners Tyler Young, Paul Nair and Mick Patel. Young has always had a passion for the restaurant industry, and started running restaurants when he was in college. Paul is the founder and owner of Savi Provisions, a neighborhood spot for organic foods, wine, spirits, and sandwiches. Mick Patel is Director of Business Development and Franchise Owner of Savi Provisions. The three were always interested in technology and innovation in the restaurant space and were immediately drawn to PizzaForno.
“One of the biggest issues I’ve seen with all my time in the restaurant industry is labor retention,” said master licensee Tyler Young. “With PizzaForno, we solve that problem. Not only are we offering a high-quality, fresh product, but we are able to offer it 24/7 without worrying about staffing.”
The trio are passionate about bringing this dining option to the area, and plan to install units in universities, hospitals and anywhere else that people would benefit from convenient, 24/7 access to their product. While they plan to open five units throughout the year, they hope to bring a total of 50 to the area.

PizzaForno currently has 61 operating locations and over 500 additional locations committed in the U.S. alone, with the first 50 U.S. locations already established in Michigan, Texas, and Louisiana. Now it’s time for Georgia residents to get hooked.
