There’s been a shakeup in local TV in Georgia’s largest city. CBS recently announced that WUPA Atlanta, broadcasting on Channel 69, will become its new network affiliate in Atlanta, Georgia, starting August 16.

That means that Atlanta News First, previously known as CBS46, is ending its relationship with CBS, which began 31 years ago.

    Welcome To Atlanta, WUPA Atlanta

Previously an independent station and a CW affiliate from 2006 to 2024, WUPA has been owned by CBS News & Stations since 1994.

CBS operates 27 stations in 17 major U.S. markets and runs the CBS News 24/7 streaming service. “Launching our first owned CBS station in Atlanta is a milestone,” said Jennifer Mitchell, president of CBS Stations and CBS News and Stations Digital. “This expansion brings CBS’ award-winning programming to a vibrant market, investing in local journalism and trusted content for Atlanta viewers.”

Atlanta Among Cities To Experience Emmy Squared Pizza and Dos Hombres Tasting Experience

    3 Min Read

Emmy Squared, the award-winning Detroit-style pizza chain, and Dos Hombres, the premium mezcal brand founded by Breaking Bad stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, are bringing a series of exclusive tasting experiences to four U.S. cities, including Atlanta, Georgia. Yay!

“This is not your average pizza collab,” said Sergio Perez, SVP, Head of Marketing at Emmy Squared Pizza. “When we say we’re doing something big, we mean it. We worked closely with the Dos Hombres crew and our friends at Spirits of Alchemy to create a menu that goes beyond what you expect from a pizza place. It’s bold, it’s delicious, and it’s built for people who love great food and a night out.”

The four cities with tasting experiences include:

    • New York City
    • Philadelphia
    • Nashville
    • Atlanta

The limited-time menu celebrates bold flavor, craft, and good company, featuring four custom-crafted cocktails with Dos Hombres Mezcal, along with two new food items. The good news? They’re now available at all Emmy Squared Pizza locations nationwide.

    The Menu: Mezcal-Inspired, Pizza-Loving
Developed by the Emmy Squared Pizza culinary team, the limited-time Emmy x Dos Hombres menu takes inspiration from the bold, smoky character of mezcal to bring something entirely new to the table. Each dish is packed with flavor, built to stand on its own, and plays well with the new cocktail lineup:

    • El Jefe Detroit-Style Pizza – A bold Detroit-style creation worthy of its name. Featuring a vibrant house-made tomatillo sauce, mezcal-marinated chicken, bell peppers, our signature cheese blend, and pecorino. All finished with a cilantro lime crema, fresh cilantro, and queso fresco. Crafted with smoky spirit and Mexican soul.
    • Dos Hombres© Dipped – Inspired by the corner street stands of Mexico City, this elote experience features roasted corn tossed in butter, sour cream, cream cheese, and lime. Topped with cilantro and queso fresco. Served with tortilla chips. A bold, buttery ode to street food heritage.

Signature Cocktails: Smooth, Smokey and Ready to Sip
Four cocktails featuring Dos Hombres Mezcal complement the Emmy Squared Pizza menu, highlighting the spirit’s smooth, layered complexity:

    • Dos Fashioned: A smoky and bold twist on a classic, featuring Dos Hombres Mezcal, Lunazul Tequila Reposado, agave, and Angostura bitters. Smooth, slightly sweet, and full of depth.
    • Oaxacan Sour: Dos Hombres Mezcal paired with our house-made tamarind syrup, bright lemon juice, aromatic Lillet Blanc, and a subtle dash of bitters. A sophisticated cocktail that balances smoky depth with tangy elegance, a tribute to the heart of Oaxaca.
    • Smoke & Soul: A tropical escape with a smoky edge. Dos Hombres Mezcal and Captain Morgan blend with Spirits of Alchemy’s pineapple-forward Cast Away mixer and fresh lime juice. Smooth and made for golden-hour sipping.
    • Mezcaloma: A bold and zesty evolution of the Paloma. Featuring Dos Hombres Mezcal, Lunazul Tequila Blanco, fresh grapefruit and lime juices, agave sweetness, and pickled jalapeños, topped with sparkling club soda. Spicy and endlessly drinkable. A nod to brotherhood and bold flavor.

    Final Word

“This collaboration represents everything we believe in at Dos Hombres – bringing people together over exceptional food and mezcal,” said JB Woodworth, Co-CEO of Dos Hombres. “Emmy Squared Pizza’s innovative approach to culinary experiences perfectly aligns with our mission.”

TSA Ends Shoe Removal at Airports

    2 Min Read

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will no longer require passengers to remove their shoes during airport security screening.

That means at the world’s busiest airport — Hartsfield-Jackson International — it will be a little easier and hopefully quicker for passengers to board their flights.

When Will TSA’s No Shoe Removal Process Roll Out Nationwide?

As of July 7, 2025, the TSA has started implementing this policy change nationwide after a brief trial at select major airports, such as Baltimore/Washington International, Fort Lauderdale International, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky, Portland International, Philadelphia International, and Piedmont Triad International.

“TSA will no longer require travelers to remove their shoes when they go through our security checkpoints,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said at a news conference.

The change applies to passengers in standard screening lines, not just those with TSA PreCheck, though those without a REAL ID or who trigger scanner alarms may still need to remove their shoes for additional screening.

The TSA has not officially announced the change but stated they are exploring ways to enhance the passenger experience while maintaining security, citing advancements in scanning technology and a reassessment of threat risks.

However, since the rollout is phased and not universally applied yet, experiences may vary by airport.

When Did TSA’s Shoe Removal Policy Begin?

The TSA’s shoe removal policy began on August 1, 2002, following the December 2001 incident involving Richard Reid, the “shoe bomber,” who attempted to detonate explosives hidden in his shoes on a flight.

This policy required passengers to remove their shoes during airport security screenings to prevent similar threats.

    Final Word

Atlanta is one of the most convenient places to travel to and from. A large part of that is because Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is so accessible.

Not only is it the world’s busiest airport, but it’s state-of-the-art in every way. If you’re interested in traveling around Atlanta via car or even on scooter, here’s what to know.
