ATLANTA, Ga. — A innovative new grocery concept has arrived in one of Atlanta’s historic neighborhoods, promising greater access to fresh food and everyday essentials around the clock.
Nourish + Bloom Market officially opened its latest location at Pittsburgh Yards, a 31-acre community development in Atlanta’s Pittsburgh neighborhood. The store, housed in a shipping container within the development’s Container Courtyard, is described as the nation’s first container-built, 24/7 AI-powered, zero-checkout grocery store.
New 24/7 AI-Powered Nourish + Bloom Market Opens in Atlanta’s Pittsburgh Yards, Tackling Food Desert Challenges
The opening addresses a longstanding issue for the area, which has long been considered a food desert.
Last year Goodr opened a brick-and-mortar location to serve areas that don’t have traditional food resources. A municipal grocery initiative called Azalea Fresh Market opened last fall to address a gap in grocery stores in downtown Atlanta. Another location is in the works.
Local families previously often had to leave their neighborhood to purchase groceries. The new market aims to change that by offering convenient, healthy options close to home at any hour.
Nourish + Bloom: Innovative Shopping Experience
Nourish + Bloom Market combines technology with community-focused retail. Customers can shop for produce, prepared meals, personal care items, and other essentials using an AI-powered system that enables a seamless, zero-checkout experience. The container-based design also highlights sustainable and adaptable retail solutions suitable for urban environments.
The Pittsburgh Yards location builds on the company’s earlier success, including its flagship market in Fayetteville and another in Atlanta’s Cascade area. Founders Jamie and Jilea Hemmings launched the venture to combat food insecurity while supporting local economies.

“Produce to prepared meals to personal care,” Jilea Hemmings said, describing the range of offerings available to shoppers.
Nourish + Bloom‘s Strong Community and Business Support
The project received significant backing through a small business contest with AT&T and support from city leadership. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and Councilman Antonio Lewis joined the founders and AT&T representatives for the grand opening celebration.
“For far too long, families in this community had to leave their own neighborhood to buy groceries,” Mayor Dickens stated during the event, emphasizing the market’s role in improving quality of life in Southwest Atlanta.
The initiative aligns with broader city efforts to expand food access and economic opportunity in underserved areas. Pittsburgh Yards itself serves as a hub for Black-owned businesses and community development, with the new market acting as a daily anchor resource for residents.
Nourish + Bloom: A Model for the Future
Nourish + Bloom Market represents a blend of innovation, entrepreneurship, and public-private partnership. By operating 24/7/365, it provides flexibility for working families, shift workers, and anyone needing convenient access outside traditional retail hours.
As Atlanta continues to grow and address equity challenges, projects like this demonstrate how technology and targeted investment can deliver tangible benefits to neighborhoods. The Hemmings and their partners hope the model can be replicated in other food-insecure communities across Georgia and beyond.
The Pittsburgh Yards location of Nourish + Bloom Market is now open to serve the community with fresh groceries and essentials — anytime, day or night.

Are you looking for a fun time with family? Even the best amusement parks in Atlanta need people to know about them.
We all know that Fun Spot America Atlanta in Fayetteville has been a popular family-friendly spot with go-karts, a standout roller coaster (ArieForce One), and dozens of rides and attractions.
As it prepares to close permanently after August 2, 2026, here are five solid alternatives in or near the Atlanta area.
Best Amusement Parks in Atlanta
These range from massive thrill parks to more relaxed family destinations, offering a mix of coasters, water fun, and classic amusement experiences.
1. Six Flags Over Georgia (Austell, GA – ~20-30 minutes from downtown Atlanta)

photo credit: youtube.com This is the premier large-scale amusement park near Atlanta and the top alternative for thrill-seekers. Often called the “Thrill Capital of the South,” it features over 45 rides, including iconic roller coasters like Twisted Cyclone (a hybrid wooden-steel coaster), The Great American Scream Machine, and Dare Devil Dive. Families will enjoy gentler options such as a carousel, train rides, a log flume, and a go-kart track. Seasonal events, live shows, and the attached Hurricane Harbor water area (in summer) add extra value. It’s significantly larger than Fun Spot, with bigger crowds on peak days but far more variety.
Best for: Roller coaster enthusiasts and full-day family outings.
2. Six Flags White Water (Marietta, GA – ~30 minutes from Atlanta)

If you’re looking for a water-focused alternative (especially in hot Georgia summers), head to this sister park to Six Flags Over Georgia. It offers dozens of slides, a lazy river (Little Hooch), wave pools, and family raft rides. Younger kids have dedicated splash zones, while thrill-seekers can tackle high-speed body slides and multi-person rafts. It pairs well with a visit to the main Six Flags park for a combined dry/wet adventure.
Best for: Cooling off with water rides and family splash fun.
3. Lake Winnepesaukah Amusement Park & SoakYa Water Park (Rossville, GA – ~1.5-2 hours north of Atlanta)
A charming, classic amusement park near Chattanooga that has been operating since 1925. It blends nostalgia with modern appeal, featuring more than 40 rides including wooden roller coasters (like the classic Cannon Ball), a historic carousel, thrill rides, and family attractions. The attached SoakYa water park adds slides and water play. It’s often praised as a top family-oriented park with a smaller, more intimate feel similar to Fun Spot but with deeper history and variety.
Best for: Families wanting old-school charm, coasters, and a shorter drive than farther Georgia parks.
4. Stone Mountain Park (Stone Mountain, GA – ~30 minutes east of Atlanta)

This expansive 3,200-acre park isn’t a traditional roller-coaster destination but offers a unique mix of outdoor recreation and seasonal family attractions right near Atlanta. Highlights include the iconic laser show on the mountain, hiking trails, a scenic railroad, skyride (cable car), and various seasonal rides or events. It also features mini-golf, boating on the lake, and family-friendly festivals. Combine it with a picnic or camping for a full day out.
Best for: Scenic, nature-infused fun with lighter thrills and Atlanta convenience.
5. Margaritaville at Lanier Islands (Buford, GA – ~50 minutes northeast of Atlanta)

Photo credit: Lanier Islands For a resort-style water and adventure experience on Lake Lanier, this spot delivers beach vibes with water slides, a lazy river, zip lines, flyboarding, and sandy beaches. It’s more relaxed and adult-friendly than pure amusement parks while still offering plenty for kids. Dining options with a Jimmy Buffett theme enhance the getaway feel—perfect for a multi-day stay.
Best for: Waterpark + lake activities with a vacation atmosphere.
Quick Tips for Visitors:
- Tickets & Passes — Check official websites for day tickets, season passes, or bundles (especially at Six Flags). Prices vary by season and height.
- Crowds — Weekdays or early arrivals beat weekend rushes, particularly at Six Flags.
- Distance — All options are drivable from metro Atlanta; Lake Winnie is the farthest but worth it for a road-trip feel.
- Family Considerations — Most offer height-based ride access; review requirements for younger kids.
These parks provide a great range of experiences to fill the gap left by Fun Spot—whether you crave massive coasters, water thrills, or relaxed family adventures. Plan ahead, especially during summer peak season! Enjoy your time making new memories around Atlanta.

Buc-ee’s, the Texas-based chain famous for its massive travel centers, clean restrooms, fresh kolaches, Beaver Nuggets, and legions of devoted fans, continues its aggressive eastward push. While the brand remains heavily concentrated in Texas (with dozens of locations), it has steadily built a presence across the Southeast since its first out-of-state store opened in Alabama in 2019.
As of mid-2026, Buc-ee’s operates in roughly a dozen states total, with a strong footprint in the Southeast including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
Buc-ee’s Expansion Plans in the Southeast: Bringing Texas-Sized Stops to Southern Highways
The company’s strategy focuses on prime interstate locations, typically featuring 70,000+ square-foot stores, 100–120+ fueling positions, extensive foodservice (including in-house smoked meats), merchandise, and EV charging. Expansion in the Southeast targets high-traffic corridors like I-95, I-75, I-10, I-20, and I-40, serving travelers, locals, and tourists alike.
Current Southeast Presence
- Alabama: Multiple locations, including Athens, Auburn, Leeds, and Loxley. These have helped establish the brand east of Texas.
- Florida: Stores in St. Augustine and Daytona Beach, with more on the way.
- Georgia: Locations in Warner Robins (near Macon), Adairsville/Calhoun area, and the newer Brunswick store (opened 2025) on the I-95 corridor.
- South Carolina: Florence location on I-95.
- Tennessee: Stores in Crossville and Sevierville/Kodak areas, with additional growth near Nashville and Memphis.
- Mississippi and Virginia: Recent first stores (2025 openings in Harrison County, MS, and Rockingham County, VA) extend the network.
Key Upcoming Southeast Projects
Buc-ee’s has dozens of planned or under-construction sites nationwide, with several high-profile ones in the Southeast slated for 2026–2028 and beyond:
- Florida: Significant growth expected. Fort Pierce (St. Lucie County) on I-95 is targeted for 2027; Tallahassee (Leon County) area on I-10 for mid-2027; Ocala (Marion County) on I-75 pushed to 2028. Additional sites like Port Charlotte are in earlier planning.
- Georgia: Fourth location in Monroe County (Forsyth area, I-75) expected in 2027.
- Tennessee: Murfreesboro (near Nashville, I-24) anticipated in 2026; Gallaway (Fayette County, near Memphis) in 2027.
- North Carolina: First store in Mebane (Alamance County, I-40/I-85 corridor between Greensboro and Durham/Raleigh) with groundbreaking completed and opening targeted for late 2027. This marks a major step into a new Southeastern state.
- South Carolina: Second location in Hardeeville (near I-95, Lowcountry, close to Savannah) planned for around 2031 as part of a mixed-use development.
- Louisiana (adjacent Southeast influence): First stores in Ruston (early 2027) and Lafayette (mid-2027) will support travel along I-20 and I-10.
Other mentions include potential or longer-term sites in areas like Anderson, SC, and additional Florida spots.
Broader Context and Outlook
Buc-ee’s is entering or deepening its presence in multiple new states overall (including Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Ohio, Wisconsin, and North Carolina) through 2027, with 15+ new locations expected by around 2031.
In the Southeast, this builds on proven success in states like Alabama and Georgia, where stores have drawn huge crowds and boosted local economies through jobs and tourism.
Challenges include local zoning battles, infrastructure needs (e.g., highway interchanges), and scaling the “Texas-sized” model to new markets. However, the brand’s reputation for exceptional cleanliness, variety, and customer experience has generally led to strong openings.
For road trippers, this expansion means fewer miles between legendary pit stops on Southeastern interstates. Whether grabbing brisket, filling up on ethanol-free fuel, or just using those famously pristine restrooms, Buc-ee’s is making long drives more bearable—and more delicious—across the region.
Expect more announcements as the company refines its pipeline. Fans can check Buc-ee’s official site or trackers like RoadtripBeaver for the latest updates. The beaver is on the move, and the Southeast is getting a bigger slice of the action.

Newly released security footage captures what appears to be part of a heated physical altercation between Atlanta radio personality Big Tigger and his wife, Alicia Brown.
The video, which carries a content warning due to its disturbing nature, is said to show moments from an alleged incident on May 9. In the footage, Alicia Brown can be heard telling someone to “take a picture” before Big Tigger approaches her.
Caught on Camera: Big Tigger Altercation With Wife
He appears to grab her by the neck and tells her to stop, then takes hold of her arms as the two wrestle. Brown is heard yelling, “Get off of me!” repeatedly. The pair then moves out of the main camera view behind a door, followed by a loud noise and what sounds like crying.
Big Tigger, whose real name is Darian Morgan, is a veteran Atlanta radio host on V-103 and former host of BET’s “Rap City.” According to court documents and police reports, the confrontation stemmed from an argument in their Sandy Springs home. Brown alleged that tensions escalated after she confronted Morgan about text messages he had received from a female co-worker. She claimed he called her “psycho,” began recording her with his phone, and then tackled her to the floor when she tried to take the device.
The altercation reportedly continued into a basement office area, where Brown said Morgan grabbed her arms and shoved her, causing her to stumble headfirst into a door. The impact allegedly resulted in a deep laceration above her left eye that required multiple stitches and left visible injury.
Morgan was arrested in late June on charges including battery and third-degree cruelty to children. A temporary protective order was granted to Brown, requiring him to stay away from her and their children. He has “unequivocally” denied the allegations, maintaining his innocence through public statements on social media.

The release of the video has intensified public discussion and scrutiny surrounding the case. Supporters of Brown have pointed to the footage and her visible injuries as evidence, while others note the need for due process as the legal proceedings continue.
This story is developing, with ongoing investigations and court matters in Fulton County. Domestic disputes of this nature highlight the serious issues many families face, and authorities urge anyone in similar situations to seek help through local resources.

TMZ Exclusive Video Shows RHOA Star Confident Amid $6,000 Monthly Income Disclosure in Chapter 11 Filing
In a striking display of resilience, The Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA) star and Slutty Vegan founder Pinky Cole is refusing to let public scrutiny of her finances get her down.
TMZ dropped an exclusive street interview on June 27, 2026, capturing the entrepreneur in New York City, where she appeared relaxed, smiling, and optimistic despite court documents revealing her listed monthly income as just $6,000 during her ongoing Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
Pinky Cole Unfazed by Bankruptcy
The video, shared via TMZ’s official account, shows Cole in a stylish black halter dress with short blonde hair, gesturing animatedly and exuding confidence as she addresses questions about her “dire financial situation.”

According to TMZ, she emphasized that her flagship business, Slutty Vegan, is performing strongly and that she is actively turning it into a franchise operation. She reportedly offered a candid perspective on her circumstances, noting variations in financial hardship with a quip along the lines of “my broke and your broke is a different kind of broke.”
The Financial Details from Court Filings
Earlier in June 2026, TMZ obtained and reported on legal documents from Cole’s Chapter 11 case, filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia. In a proposed plan of reorganization, she listed her monthly income at $6,000.

The accompanying budget breakdown paints a picture of tight personal finances:
- $200 on children’s expenses
- $800 on groceries
- $80 on gas
- $300 on medical costs
- $1,574 in Georgia state taxes
- $1,343 in federal taxes
This leaves roughly $1,500 per month in disposable income after essential outlays.
Cole originally filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in February 2026 to reorganize significant debts. Initial filings showed approximately $1.4 million in liabilities, including a $1.2 million obligation to the U.S. Small Business Administration (tied to a COVID-era loan) and about $192,000 owed to the Georgia Department of Revenue in taxes. Later amendments increased the reported total debt, with some updates citing figures approaching or exceeding $4 million as more creditors were detailed.
Chapter 11 bankruptcy allows debtors to restructure obligations while continuing business operations — a strategic move often used by entrepreneurs facing temporary setbacks rather than a sign of total collapse.
Who Is Pinky Cole?

Photo credit: Pinky Cole / Facebook Aisha “Pinky” Cole built Slutty Vegan into a cult-favorite plant-based fast-casual chain known for its bold flavors, indulgent vegan “burgers,” and unapologetic branding. Starting in Atlanta, the concept expanded to multiple locations nationwide, becoming a cultural staple in Black and vegan communities alike.
Cole joined the RHOA cast in a recent season, bringing her entrepreneurial energy and larger-than-life personality to the Bravo spotlight.
Despite the personal financial reorganization, Slutty Vegan locations remain operational, and Cole has expressed plans to grow the brand further through franchising.
Public Reaction and Context
Social media reactions to the TMZ video and filings have been largely supportive. Many fans and observers praise Cole’s transparency, positive attitude, and focus on business recovery. Comments highlight her glowing appearance in the interview and note that bankruptcy filings (especially Chapter 11) are common tools for business owners navigating challenges like post-pandemic recovery, loans, and taxes — not necessarily an indicator of personal ruin.
Some online discussions clarify that the $6,000 figure represents income listed in her name for the reorganization plan and may not reflect total household or business revenue streams.
Looking Ahead
Cole’s unbothered demeanor in the TMZ clip sends a clear message: she is treating this as one chapter in a longer story of building and rebuilding. With Slutty Vegan reportedly thriving and franchising on the horizon, the entrepreneur appears poised to emerge stronger.
As her bankruptcy case progresses through the reorganization plan, updates on creditor agreements and business performance will likely continue to surface. For now, Pinky Cole is reminding everyone that resilience, transparency, and a strong brand can coexist with financial restructuring — and that “broke” looks different depending on the lens.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. — Shauna Patterson grew up going to Fun Spot America Atlanta and has fond memories.
”We used to ride the roller coaster all day,” the Rex resident says. “If they’re going away, that’s a big blow to the kids.”
But going away they are.
Fun Spot Closing in Fayetteville
An Atlanta-area staple for family fun and adrenaline-pumping rides will soon shutter its gates for good. Fun Spot America Atlanta announced Thursday that its Fayetteville location will operate for the final time on Sunday, August 2, 2026.
The park, located at 1675 Highway 85 North, has been a fixture in the south metro Atlanta region since opening as Dixieland Fun Park in 1990 — marking roughly 36 years of operation. It later operated as Fun Junction USA before Florida-based Fun Spot America Theme Parks acquired it in 2017 and rebranded it as Fun Spot America Atlanta.
A Legacy of Family Entertainment and Big Investments
Originally a modest family entertainment center with go-karts, mini-golf, arcade games, and small rides, the park evolved under new ownership and became a favorite spot for Atlanta kids.
Fun Spot poured resources into upgrades, most notably adding the standout ArieForce One roller coaster — a high-thrill attraction that drew coaster enthusiasts from across the region. Other highlights include Georgia’s first and only multi-level go-kart track (The Samson, a four-story behemoth), a Ferris wheel, batting cages, family rides, and more recent additions like the golf-themed Hook & Slice ride.
The company described the closure as “an extremely difficult decision” in a statement from CEO John Arie Jr. “Our Atlanta team has poured their hearts into serving our guests and creating a place where families could have fun together,” Arie said. “We are deeply grateful for their dedication and for the support we have received from the Fayetteville community.”
No official reason was provided for the shutdown. Some observers have noted historically lower attendance compared to the chain’s Florida parks, despite investments aimed at elevating the Atlanta site to a full regional amusement destination.
What Happens Next?
Fun Spot America will continue operating its two Florida locations in Orlando and Kissimmee. Season passes and gift cards for the Atlanta park will remain valid through August 2 and will afterward be honored at the Florida parks.
The fate of the property and its rides, including the popular ArieForce One, remains uncertain. No announcements have been made regarding relocation, sale, or demolition.
The park plans to stay open through its final day with regular hours (10 a.m. to 10 p.m.), encouraging fans to visit one last time and create lasting memories.
For many in the Atlanta area, Fun Spot America represented more than just rides — it was a local gathering spot for birthdays, school outings, and summer evenings filled with screams of delight and the scent of funnel cakes. While its closure marks the end of an era in Fayetteville, the spirit of those 36 years of thrills will linger in the memories of generations of families.
If you’ve been meaning to take one last spin on ArieForce One or a lap around The Samson, now is the time. The gates close for good on August 2.

ATLANTA — Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) officials announced Friday that the agency has moved approximately 1.7 million riders since June 11 to support four FIFA World Cup 2026 matches at Atlanta Stadium (Mercedes-Benz Stadium) and numerous related festivities, including nine FIFA Fan Festivals.
The figures highlight the critical role public transit has played in accommodating the massive influx of visitors during the tournament’s early weeks in Atlanta, one of the key U.S. host cities.
FIFA World Cup sees MARTA Record Ridership
The busiest single day occurred on Wednesday, June 24, during the Morocco vs. Haiti group stage match. MARTA recorded about 220,000 rail customers that day — roughly 2.3 times the number of riders on a typical weekday.
For context, MARTA typically sees around 95,000 to 205,000 daily rail riders on weekdays outside of major events.
Read our guide to riding MARTA.
“MARTA has transported approximately 1.7 million people to four World Cup matches, nine FIFA Fan Festivals, and events across the region,” the agency posted on X. Officials also noted that MARTA Transit Ambassadors have completed nearly 4,000 shifts, while hundreds of MARTA Police officers — supported by personnel from other agencies — have maintained increased patrols.
Atlanta has hosted several early group stage matches, including Spain vs. Cabo Verde (June 15), Czechia vs. South Africa (June 18), Spain vs. Saudi Arabia (June 21), and Morocco vs. Haiti (June 24). atlantafwc26.com +1The Morocco-Haiti contest drew particularly strong crowds, with fans packing trains and stations near the stadium. Pre-event planning emphasized “Let MARTA Drive” campaigns and expanded service to ease road congestion around Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
MARTA activated enhanced operations for the tournament, including more frequent trains, additional staffing, and shuttle services. The agency has encouraged fans to use transit to avoid traffic snarls, a strategy that appears to have paid dividends given the ridership numbers.
More World Cup action is on the horizon in Atlanta, with additional group stage matches and later knockout rounds scheduled through July.
Transit advocates and city officials view the strong early performance as a positive sign for MARTA’s ability to handle large-scale events, though some riders had raised pre-tournament concerns about capacity and safety.
MARTA continues to urge attendees to plan trips in advance via its app and website as the tournament progresses.
