The Fulton County Medical Examiner on Tuesday, Oct. 1, announced that Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan’s official cause of death was an overdose from fentanyl, alprazolam, codeine, and promethazine.
His death is being ruled an accident.
Rich Homie Quan, born Dequantes Devontay Lamar on October 4, 1989, gained recognition in the early 2010s with a series of mixtapes that showcased his distinctive style, blending Southern hip-hop with melodic hooks.
His breakthrough came with the release of “Type of Way” in 2013.Rich Homie Quan was found deceased on September 5, 2024, at the age of 34. His death was ruled an accidental drug overdose.
The funeral for Rich Homie Quan took place on September 17, 2024, at World Changers Church International in College Park, Georgia. Numerous celebrities paid their respects and spoke from the stage.
The service began at 11 a.m. and was open to the public, requiring attendees to RSVP. While specific attendance figures were not reported, it was noted that the venue was fully packed with loved ones and fans paying their respects.

Early Tuesday morning, the Rockdale County EMA officials sent an alert to area residents, warning them that, “The plume has consistently shifted throughout the night. We ask that you shelter in place if the plume moves over your vicinity or if there is a strong odor of chlorine.”
In a Tuesday news conference, Rockdale Chairman Oz Nesbit said that an earlier alert that lifted a shelter in place for the county was sent before the wind patterns shifted and is no longer in effect. “We can’t control the weather,” he said.
“Let me make this very clear. You will continue to see the plume. The plume is part of the mitigating process,” he added.
BioLab Plume Still Visible In Conyers
As residents coped with the discomfort of stinging eyes and itchy throats for another day, several lawsuits have popped up against BioLab.
“Be patient with us. We have the right experts on the ground and we want to make sure that we’re communicating cohesively,” he said.
This marks the third day that metro Atlanta residents are dealing with air quality issues related to a fire at the Biolab site in Conyers, Georgia.
“If you have respiratory issues, we encourage you to shelter in place. We will provide an update as quickly as possible,” the Rockdale EMA says in the alert.
Residents in Rockdale are still being asked to shelter in place days after a chemical fire at the Biolab facility on Old Covington Highway in Conyers, Georgia. The chlorine spread has not stayed in Conyers though. Residents in Gwinnett, East Point, Atlanta, Fulton and DeKalb have all reported being affected.

Hurricane Helene roared through metro Atlanta as a tropical storm with sustained winds of almost 70 mph early Friday. In its wake, the storm left downed power lines, flooded streets and thousands without power.
Gov. Brian Kemp said Friday during a news conference that there have been 11 confirmed fatalities, including a first responder.
More than 975,000 customers are currently without power across Georgia, due to Helene. We’ve been watching outages increase over northeast Georgia over the last couple of hours.
Of the notable landmarks that were affected were these:
Canoe restaurant in Vinings
Canoe restaurant was flooded from the nearby Chattahoochee River, which overflowed due to the constant raining Thursday evening and Friday morning.
Hanover West residents had to be rescued as well, according to Atlanta media. Hanover West is comprised of about 100 homes developed originally in the 1960s, sitting along Peachtree Creek just north of Defoors Ferry Road.
In Buckhead
In Buckhead, several homes and apartments were damaged from flash flooding. Apartment dwellers even had to be rescued by boat crews early Friday.
In Brookhaven, Buford Highway had to be shut down due to excessive flooding as well.
A Fox meteorologist saved a woman’s life after floodwaters nearly overcame her near Buckhead. Weatherman Bob Van Dillen recently performed a heroic rescue during the live coverage of Hurricane Helene.
While reporting in Atlanta amidst rising floodwaters, Van Dillen heard a woman’s cries for help from her car, which was rapidly being submerged. With no time to wait for emergency responders, he rushed into the chest-deep water and carried the woman to safety. She was in shock but unharmed. Her husband later arrived to take her home.
After the storm, check on neighbors, especially the elderly or those who may need assistance.
At Bobby Jones golf course, the greens were inundated with water from the nearby creek.
Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens said Friday morning that the city workers have been dispatched to help residents stranded in their homes.
“From all the crews that were out there, they were all in danger throughout the night and so we made sure that they took safety precautions as they rendered care to others,” he said.
Heavy winds also took down powerlines and some traffic lights, creating more havoc.
In Cobb County, government officials implored residents to stay off the roads until midday as waters were slow to recede.
Kemp said that more than 1 million electricity meters were without power around middway. In metro Atlanta, residents were to expect intermittent breezes through the afternoon, so additional power outages are possible.

In the heat of the playoff race, Atlanta Braves have postponed their games with the New York Mets due to the weather threat posed by Helene.
“The remaining games vs the New York Mets scheduled for September 25 and 26 have been postponed due to current and forecasted weather impacting the Atlanta area. Both games have been rescheduled as part of a traditional doubleheader on Monday, September 30,” the Braves said in a statement midday Wednesday.
If you want to catch the Braves-Mets series, the first game will begin at 1:10 PM ET. Game two will begin approximately 40 minutes after the last out of game one. Monday is a single admission doubleheader with only one ticket required for both games.
Tickets for the Thursday, Sept. 26 game will be honored on Monday – 9/30 – when gates open at 11:30 AM ET. “All ticket holders will receive additional information via email,” the ballclub said.

Georgia-Pacific is building one of the America’s largest mixed-use redevelopments and the intent to transform its iconic 51-story world headquarters into a thriving community hub.
The landmark downtown location will be reimagined into a vivid mix of residential living, modern office spaces, retail, restaurants and a landscaped central plaza for gathering.
The redevelopment comes as other large-scale companies are renewing their commitments to downtown Atlanta amid rapid change in the local real estate environment.
Georgia-Pacific announced the plans recently in a detailed press release. The proposed development, scheduled for completion in fall 2027, includes the following:
- More than 400 apartment units on the tower’s uppermost floors, among the highest in the Southeast
- +/- 125,000 square feet of retail, restaurant and entertainment space
- +/- 600,000 square feet of Class A office space anchored by Georgia-Pacific and Koch
- +/- 35,000 square feet dedicated to a large central plaza
- More than 2,100 parking spaces plus adjacent MARTA and Atlanta Streetcar transportation access
- Future multi-phase development plans include opportunities for a hotel and additional retail and residences
“If realized, this will be more than just a redevelopment; it has the potential to generate economic growth and create mutual benefit for the city, local businesses, their employees, Georgia-Pacific employees and our vibrant community,” said Christian Fischer, president and CEO of Georgia-Pacific. “The office landscape has changed, and we recognize that the adaptive reuse of our site and office tower can create greater long-term value. Georgia-Pacific has assembled a team of industry-leading experts to bring this project to life, including an in-house, mixed-use development team responsible for leading both the redevelopment efforts and the go-to-market strategy and capitalization of the project. External partners include Rule Joy Trammell + Rubio, architect of record; Healy Weatherholtz, retail broker; Kimley-Horn, civil engineering; Studio Saint, interior design; Brasfield & Gorrie, preconstruction; and Transwestern, consulting and property management.
Georgia-Pacific’s all-in commitment to a community hub space follows a recent trend among Atlanta businesses. Athlete’s Foot in Midtown Atlanta recently opened a store with areas specifically designed as a community hub.

The ambitious undertaking will blend modern design with the building’s historic presence, revitalizing this prestigious downtown address as the cultural heart of Atlanta.
