Metro Atlanta shoppers are choosing to skip the holiday traffic and have select Walmart items delivered right to their yards.
The deliveries, which can take only minutes, is due to a new drone delivery service that quietly launched a few months ago.
Walmart Shoppers Can Use Drones for Deliveries
In partnership with Wing (an Alphabet company), Walmart began offering ultra-fast drone delivery on December 3, 2025, making Atlanta the first city in a major five-city expansion that will also include Charlotte, Houston, Orlando, and Tampa.
The rollout is part of an ambitious plan to bring drone delivery to 100 additional Walmart stores nationwide by 2026.
The service is currently available from six participating Walmart Supercenters across the metro area:
- Woodstock (12182 GA-92, Woodstock, GA 30188)
- Conyers
- Hiram
- Dallas
- McDonough
- Loganville (4221 Atlanta Hwy, Loganville, GA 30052)
Customers within a 6- to 8-mile radius of these stores can order eligible items through the Walmart website/app or the dedicated Wing Drone Delivery app.

The average flight time is five minutes or less, with the drone gently lowering the package to a designated spot in your front yard, backyard, or driveway—no handoff required.
Eligible items are limited to those under 2 pounds (some sources note up to 2.5 pounds), including:

The annual Peach Drop event in downtown Atlanta won’t take place this year, Atlanta officials have said. Instead, there will be a drone show that can be seen from nearly anywhere in downtown Atlanta.
The changes come as several cities in the United States and abroad have canceled New Year’s Eve parties due to security concerns.
Atlanta Peach Drop Canceled; Drone Show Planned
For its part, the City of Atlanta cited that its exhibition budget sort of went to the hip-hop celebration in put on earlier in the fall to coincide with the 50th anniversary of hip-hop.
“This year, the City dedicated our resources to celebrating the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop and other local activities directly serving the community. While a worthy tradition in the past, the Peach Drop has not been an annual event since 2017. Each year is different, and we can always reevaluate next year,” a city of Atlanta spokesperson said in a statement.
The cancellation of the New Year’s Eve event means Atlanta residents and visitors will need to find another way to bring in the new year.

Tyler Perry, the powerhouse filmmaker and founder of Tyler Perry Studios here in Atlanta, has been hit with a new lawsuit accusing him of sexual assault and battery.
The complaint, filed Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court by actor Mario Rodriguez, who had a small role in Perry’s 2016 comedy Boo! A Madea Halloween, seeks at least $7.7 million in damages.

According to the lawsuit, Rodriguez first connected with Perry in 2015 after a trainer at an Equinox gym in Los Angeles passed along his phone number, saying Perry wanted to discuss acting opportunities.
Perry allegedly encouraged Rodriguez to audition for Boo! A Madea Halloween, telling him, “I’m not a bad person to know and have in your corner.” Rodriguez landed a minor part as “Frat Guy #10” in the Lionsgate-distributed film.
The suit claims that after filming began, Perry made repeated unwanted sexual advances over several years, including at his Los Angeles home. Specific allegations include inappropriate touching while watching a movie, attempting to unbuckle Rodriguez’s pants, and placing the actor’s hand on Perry’s genitals.
The complaint also states that Perry provided Rodriguez with $5,000 on multiple occasions following these encounters.
Rodriguez alleges he resisted the advances and eventually cut contact in 2019, though Perry periodically reached out afterward.
Rodriguez is pursuing claims of sexual assault, sexual battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
The lawsuit also names Lionsgate, accusing the studio of ignoring Perry’s alleged misconduct during the production and distribution of the film.
This marks the second recent legal challenge for Perry involving similar accusations. In June 2025, actor Derek Dixon, who appeared in Perry’s BET series The Oval, filed a separate lawsuit claiming sexual harassment, assault, and retaliation, seeking over $260 million.
That case, originally filed in California, has since moved to federal court in Georgia, where Perry’s massive Atlanta studio complex is located. Both Rodriguez and Dixon are represented by the same attorney, Jonathan Delshad.
