Atlanta has long represented on Black Twitter, but now Black Twitter is going to the small screen — and we don’t mean TV.
The Atlanta University Center will be the epicenter of a new show broadcast on Twitter, bringing together the most entertaining, enlightening and comedic content across Twitter feeds while attributing and highlighting diverse voices.
The show is part of more than 30 new collaborations and renewals announced this week across entertainment, news, sports, gaming and more.
“Twitter is the only place where conversation is tied to video and the biggest live moments, giving brands the unique ability to connect with leaned in consumers who are shaping culture,” said Twitter Global VP of Revenue and Content Partnerships Matthew Derella. “That’s our superpower.”
Execs at the social media site say they’re tapping into what people have expressed that they want to see, which is markedly different from TV.
“We’re not guessing, we’re listening. People tell us what they want to see with the conversations they share on Twitter,” said Twitter’s Global Head of Content Partnerships Kay Madati. “In the past year, we’ve really expanded our efforts with the best publishers and content creators in the world to bring a slate of programming that reflects those diverse content interests.”
It is unknown when the AU Center show will begin production.
