The 1st Annual ATL HOE-LIDAY Food and Clothing Drive is here. Come and help us collect food and clothing for the Atlanta Food Bank and bring all of our Atlanta family together to celebrate the holidays together!
For this very special night we are bringing some of the best from around the country who are all originally from ATL. Featuring…..
BRO SAFARI w/ ARMANNI REIGN
Producer Nicholas Weiller, known to millions as Bro Safari, continues to brand the industry with a searing impression of his hip-hop influenced trap and huge moombathon mixes, that have earned him his stripes alongside some of electronic music’s biggest and best. An avid punk rock fan that originally began producing drum n bass back in his hometown of Atlanta, he adopted the tongue-in-cheek demeanour of Bro Safari to launch his explosive foray into palpitation-inducing dubstep and bass-pummelling trap.MAYHEM
Chart topping, dance floor rocking, and taste making come naturally to Atlanta based DJ and Producer Mayhem. With over 15 years in the studio and the decks, he has garnished the attention of the heavyweights in every genre of his focus. As of late his focus has been brought back to home on the forefront a movement combining Trap music with Dubstep, in addition to maintaining a healthy output of Drum & Bass, while working with Rap artists such as Tyga, Gucci Mane, Travis Porter, and Trouble.

Atlanta has been a newsmaking town ever since a guy named Tech scorched the place in the name of war. But in 2018, the city made some pretty big headlines for a number of reasons.
Some of the big-time news emanating out of the city this year had to do with real estate issues like The Gulch, and #HQ2, but other major topics centered on the elections and sports. Here are what Atlantans searched in 2018:
What did Atlantans search in 2018?
According to Google, Atlanta figured huge nationally as well. Democratic candidate for governor, Stacey Abrams was the most-searched politician in the whole United States. But she’s not alone. Here are the results from Google.2018 Top Trending Searches in AtlantaWorld Cup (No. 1 in U.S.)
Atlanta became the center of the professional soccer universe when Atlanta United won the MLS Championship, bringing a title home to the city for the first time since 1995.
Hurricane Florence (No. 2 in U.S.)
Hurricane Florence barreled through Florida and sent thousands of people looking for cover into Georgia. The state responded by opening up homes, hotels and giving discounts to scores of people.
Georgia governor race
The contentious gubernatorial race between former Secretary of State Brian Kemp and state lawmaker Stacey Abrams drew national attention for a number of reasons.
Finally, the vote was marred by controversy when Kemp refused to give up his position as Secretary of State until the vote was all but finished. Still, it was a major traffic driver on the internet.
Stacey Abrams
Abrams would have been the state’s first African-American and woman to be governor if she’d have won. Also, some major celebrities like Oprah and Will Ferrell came to Georgia to knock on some doors and gain some significant publicity.
Black Panther (No. 6 U.S.)
The Atlanta-produced movie did gangbusters at the box office, turning the fictional city of Wakanda into a place we all want to visit. The ATL connection has been strong for Marvel, who has filmed several of its films around the city with production being down in Fayetteville.
Hurricane Michael
The second major storm to hit the United States in 2018, Michael caused a second mass exodus of Floridians fleeing to Georgia. When it was all told, Florida saw $4.2 billion in losses from the storm.
Mac Miller (No. 3 U.S.)
The Pittsburgh-born rapper died of an overdose in September 2017, one month before he was to begin a national tour, which would have brought him to Atlanta. Miller, 26, released his last album, “Swimming” in August.
Aretha Franklin
Aretha Franklin died on Aug. 16 from pancreatic cancer in Detroit, Michigan, her hometown. The pastor who gave the eulogy was Atlanta’s own the Rev. Jasper Williams Jr., who presides over Salem Bible Church, formerly Salem Baptist Church, with campuses in Atlanta and Lithonia.
Kate Spade (No. 4 U.S.)
Fashionista Kate Spade, an inspiration of many Atlantans, passed away on June 5 of this year. The fashion designer was found dead in her New York Avenue home. The medical examiner later determined that Spade’s death was a suicide. She was 55.
Mega Million
Who didn’t want some of the big money? The Mega Millions reached upwards of $1 billion this fall, making it something on the minds of many Atlantans. The winner(s) have remained anonymous … (or have they?)
More categorical trending searches are available on Google’s 2018 Year in Search website. -
Atlanta is a champion city again. It may have taken about 25 years, but the ATL is title town once again. Atlanta United, the city’s 2-year-old pro soccer club, brought home the MLS World Cup after beating Portland 2-0.
The MLS Cup’s full name is the MLS Philip F. Anschutz Trophy, named after the billionaire philanthropist and major league soccer club owner. The MLS Cup has been named after Anschutz since 2008. Before that, it was named after Alan I. Rothenberg, a leading soccer sports executive largely responsible for the sport’s growth and popularity in the United States.
Magic City? 5 other Atlanta spots the MLS Cup needs to visit
With Atlanta United’s victory in just its second season of MLS play, the club brought a championship to the city for the first time since 1995 (the Atlanta Braves).
According to news reports and quite a bit of social media exposure, one of the MLS Cup’s last stops of the night was Magic City. But there are other places the mighty Cup may need to check out.
The Varsity
Why not bring the Cup to the Varsity in Midtown? Let the greasiest hands in the city touch and fondle the trophy that is a part of their heritage now that Atlanta United FC are the champs, If you really want to go there, smother the Cup with some of that chili reserved for those Varsity chili dogs everyone so loves.
Centennial Olympic Park
A walk in the park would be just the thing for the MLS Cup, which has given the city its first big sports moment this century. Centennial Olympic Park is the perfect ode to the city’s other shining achievement: Hosting the 1996 Olympic Games.
The Big Chicken
One icon should meet another. Marietta’s largest local landmark, the Big Chicken, should be formally introduced to the MLS Cup. The Cup can learn a thing or two about iconic-ness and being a rock for a city in need. The Big Chicken underwent a face-lift in 2017 but has been standing since 1963 outside a KFC restaurant.
Waffle House
Bring the Cup to Waffle House, any Waffle House in the metro area. The truth is that Atlanta’s restaurant of choice is a much of that victory as anything else. How do you think 70,000 fans sustained themselves before and after those soccer games at Mercedes-Benz Stadium?
SunTrust Park
Let the Cup travel to SunTrust Park, the Atlanta Braves’ new stadium in Cobb County. This would be the only true and proper link between the city’s two storied franchises that have won it all. Let the Cup’s entry into SunTrust Park also serve as a motivator for the Braves to bring one home next year. The Cup — and the city — are pulling for you!

Atlanta’s dining scene, like our waistlines, is growing by leaps and bounds. In every corner, NW, SW, and all parts in between, the top new Atlanta restaurants are sprouting up and bringing the good food along with it.
Who has the good food? Where to go to get some grub? We turned to Yelp and the volunteer reviewers who spend the time documenting their meals and experiences so that we don’t have to.
Top NEW Atlanta Restaurants, according to Yelp
A number of new joints have opened up in recent months. Some have been open a matter of weeks. They all make up some of the top new Atlanta restaurants. Here’s what Yelpers are saying about them:
Rose + Rye in Midtown 87 15th St NE Atlanta, GA 30309 Phone number (404) 500-5980. A Yelper said: ““The savory pork on the bone with sweet potato cakes was probably the best take on a pork chop I’ve ever tasted.”

Sage Woodfire Tavern In Buckhead: 3379 Peachtree Rd NE Atlanta, GA 30326 Phone number (404) 869-9177. A Yelper said: “irst time here, last minute decision to come here. Glad I did! Warren, was my server, he was absolutely wonderful! I ordered the Halibut and the broiled Seafood platter.”

Mission + Market in Buckhead: 3550 Lenox Rd NE Ste 550 Atlanta, GA 30326. A Yelper said: “Fabulous. Wonderfully fabulous. Would give 6 stars if I could. My wife and I visited on 4/19-its second week being open and really enjoyed the experience. First, the food was excellent. Great menu and hard to choose, but we both enjoyed everything served. I personally had the quinoa dish and added chicken. Looking forward to exploring other items on our next visit(s).”

Mary Hoopa’s House of Fried Chicken & Oysters has been serving since February 2018. The eatery is located in the Hosea + 2nd development. 2371 Hosea L Williams Dr NE Atlanta, GA 30317. A Yelper said: “The bestie and I came here to try it out after seeing the all you can eat sign (don’t judge us). Let me start by saying this place is not fancy. The decor isn’t fancy and neither is the food. However, at $13.99 the value cannot be beat! You can upgrade to sashimi as well for $19.99 but neither of us are into sashimi so we were glad to not have to pay for that. We were pleasantly greeted when we came in the place was not busy at all.”

Chido + Padre’s Restaurant In Buckhead. 128 E Andrews Dr NW Atlanta, GA 30305 Phone number (404) 848-9100. A Yelper said:“This used to be smoke belly but they’ve clearly replaced that old concept into something much more AMAZING with incredible food and drinks!”

Recess, 99-V Krog St Atlanta, GA 30307 Phone number(404) 596-8396. A Yelper said: “Serving up salads, bowls, soups, avocado toasts and sandwiches, Recess is new to the scene and one of the healthy-ish options available at Krog Street Market.” Castellucci Hospitality Group Monday Introduced The “Healthy-Ish” Concept In Inman Park.

Ms. Icey’s Kitchen, 1371 Clairmont Rd Decatur, GA 30033 Phone number (404) 963-7871. A Yelper said: “The portions were plentiful and right now it’s BYOB so that was nice. The ambiance is nice! You can be casual or dressy. The DJ was on point, Cedrick our server was great and attentive as was all of the staff. The manager and owner both came to check on us which was great. This new establishment has gotten off to a great start! I WILL BE BACK!”

CraftHall Kitchen Update: This business has closed.
Opens In Sandy Springs 1165 Perimeter Ctr W Ste 303 Atlanta, GA 30346. One Yelper said: “Crafthall kitchen is an interesting concept. It is four restaurants in one: Fried Chicken, Brunch, Salad, and Sandwich. You order your meal from an iPad. You can look back to the kitchen, but you don’t really interact with anyone. It is a little strange at first, but it probably keeps costs lower. I enjoyed the meal I received from the fried chicken restaurant. They have two different types of breadings, several different sides, and many different types of combinations.
“I had Chicken with Waffles. The Chicken was great, the waffles were okay. I probably won’t get it again, but the Chicken was good enough to come back. Expect to spend about $10 a plate.”
Red Pepper Taqueria: 3135 Piedmont Rd Atlanta, GA 30305 Phone number(404) 869-2773. One Yelper said: “My friends and I had the time of our life here! It is not easy finding places that offer bottomless mimosas in Atlanta – but they do. It is only $15 and an extra $3 if you want a flavor added. I had the strawberry mimosas….they were GREAT!”

Chai Yo Modern Thai : 3050 Peachtree Rd NW Atlanta, GA 30305. A Yelper said: “The coconut ice cream, the whipped cream and the chocolate cake was divineeee.”
