• First Friday: Winnie The Pooh Exhibit At The High Museum

    The High Museum in Midtown Atlanta is one of the most slept-on after-hours spots in the city. On a given Friday night, it can be absolutely lit with partiers and cocktails flowing and live music to sway to.

    On the first Friday of July, The High is throwing a tea party in honor of their Winnie-the-Pooh exhibition, and you’re invited!

    Enjoy live music, honey-inspired cocktails, Drag Queen Story Time with Miss Terra Cotta Sugarbaker of the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System, tea-blending workshops with Homestead Atlanta, and much more.

    The High Museum is located at 1280 Peachtree St NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30309.

    The event will run from 6 to 9 p.m. Temperatures outside are expected to be around 72 degrees. PERF!

    As a musical preview to One Musicfest, the popular festival has teamed with BMI to give an exclusive ATL crowd a glimpse of what’s in store.

    One Musicfest comes to the city in September with tons of hot artists scheduled to perform. The lineup so far is Nas, Cardi B, Miguel, T.I., Jeezy, Big Sean, Kelis, Brandy, August Greene, Big KRIT, George Clinton & Parliament and more.

  • First Look: Coalition Food and Beverage Opens In Roswell

    North Fulton has a new restaurant to add to is collective palate: Coalition Food and Beverage opened its doors Tuesday, June 26 in downtown Alpharetta. The eatery is the third from the team that launched Roswell’s Table & Main in 2011 and Osteria Mattone in 2013.

    Coalition Food and Beverage is spread across 3,331-square-feet of space and seats approximately 150 diners, including a bar, outdoor dining and private dining.

    While not as stiff and contemporary-looking as many of the restaurants you’d see in Midtown, Coalition strives for a more urban aesthetic and community feel.

    “We look to bring the vibrancy of the city – the steel, the noise, the action, the constant swirl of things – to the suburbs,” said Ryan Pernice, RO Hospitality founder and owner. “People should feel very far from their backyard grills when they’re here.     Coalition Food and Beverage is open for dinner service Sunday through Thursday, from 4:30 – 9:30 p.m., and Friday through Saturday, from 4:30 – 10:30 p.m. Both lunch and brunch service will begin in weeks to follow. Parking is ample via street-side parking or the Teasley Place parking deck, which is complimentary to Coalition patrons.

    This Vienna lager is known for its light malty flavor profile and is now our second lager offered in cans. It will debut at the brewery and in the Atlanta market Thursday, 6/28.   • Georgia’s Hands-Free Driver Law: What To Know

    On July 1, 2018, Georgia is set to enact a new law that would make it a crime for motorists to hold their cell phones in their hands. Recent statistics show that nearly 70% of traffic accidents in the state are due to distracted drivers mostly using cell phones.

    As a public service, here’s what’s allowed and not allowed under the Hands-Free Georgia Act, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

    Not Allowed

    *Holding or supporting, with any part of the body, a wireless telecommunications device or stand-alone electronic device (for example, an iPod).

    *Writing, sending or reading any text-based communication, including a text message, instant message, e-mail or internet data while holding your device.

    *Watching a video or movie other than watching data related to the navigation of your vehicle (i.e., your mapping app or GPS screen).

    *Recording a video.

    Allowed

    *Speaking or texting while using hands-free technology.

    *Using a GPS system or mapping app.

    *Wearing and using a smart watch.

    *Using an earpiece to talk on the phone.

    *Using radios, CB radios, CB radio hybrids, commercial two-way radios, subscription-based emergency communication devices, prescribed medical devices, amateur or ham radios and “in-vehicle security, navigation or remote diagnostics” systems.

    This week, there’s something called Drunk Cider School (no, really) and it’s poppin’.

    The cost of admission is $39, but you’ll get to party with cooks and learn the art of the masters. The cooks teams up with for a fun night of sips & schoolin’.

    The event will consist of six ciders & lite snacks to compliment them. There will also be a brief history of global cider consumption and a discussion on the basics of cider production.
