Sojourning from their modest home in Plains, they sought peace in war-torn regions and built houses with Habitat for Humanity.”

After leaving office, he continued advocating for democratic principles and dedicated himself to charitable causes, including founding the Carter Center in 1982, and building homes for Habitat for Humanity. He created incalculable memories for those in Atlanta, the state of Georgia, and across the world. We extend our deepest condolences to the Carter family and everyone mourning this significant loss.”
“The Atlanta Braves are deeply saddened by the passing of President Jimmy Carter,” the team said in a statement. “President Carter was a testament to the best America, and Georgia, can produce. He served both his country and home state with honor his entire life.
“While the world knew him as a remarkable humanitarian and peacemaker, we knew him as a dedicated Braves fan and we will miss having him in the stands cheering on his Braves. Our deepest condolences to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.”
President Joe Biden released the following statement:
“Over six decades, Jill and I had the honor of calling Jimmy Carter a dear friend. But, what’s extraordinary about Jimmy Carter, though, is that millions of people throughout America and the world who never met him thought of him as a dear friend as well.”
