Slutty Vegan’s Pinky Cole Gets $25M Investment For Expansion

    2 Min Read

Pinky Cole, the empress of Atlanta’s vegan food empire known as Slutty Vegan recently got $25 million in Series A funding from Danny Meyer’s Enlightened Hospitality Investments and Richelieu Dennis’ New Voices Fund, AtlantaFi.com has learned.

Meyer is the proprietor of Shake Shack, which partnered with Cole’s Slutty Vegan in 2021 to offer a burger with the vegan restaurant’s signature sauce, has been a big fan of the Slutty Vegan chain since being introduced to it a year earlier.

“I had never seen vegan food presented in such a fun way,” Meyer told Forbes. “Leaders are often defined by the degree to which people want to follow them, and I saw people following the leader.”

Cole, who routinely brings her food truck to U.S. cities to test the market, has been in the expansion mood for more than two years now.

The former TV producer made the leap into the food business in 2018 when she started a food truck that sold “vegan junk food.”

In 2019, she opened her first brick-and-mortar eatery in Atlanta’s historic Westview neighborhood on the city’s southwest side.

Now she’s a multi-millionaire with major expansion plans, including plans to open up 10 restaurant locations this year and another 10 next year.

Slabtown Public House Opens On Atlanta’s Beltline

    2 Min Read

If you’re looking for a new place to eat, the Beltline is the place! Slabtown Public House recently opened in Atlanta just off the eastside trail.

The eatery is the latest from Red Beard Restaurants founding chef Kevin Gillespie and chef Marco Shaw. Gillespie is up for a James Beard Award (yet again) this year; Shaw, a Washington D.C. native, is a  seasoned restaurateur with a psychology degree. The two have collaborated before and are back at it again.

Slabtown Public House Opens Its Doors On Atlanta’s Beltline

Keep reading to find out what you can expect from Slabtown Public House, including its menu and hours.

If the opening days are any indication, Slabtown Public House will be a smash hit.

The restaurant posted on its Facebook page that its opening was so successful that it ran out of food! “You showed us so much love in the first 3 days of being open that we have run out of food!! I mean, technically we have a couple things, but not enough to be open today.”

    What’s On Slabtown’s Menu?

Slabtown specializes in “casual pub food,” according to Gillespie. That means you’ll be able to find beer, burgers and other hearty items with a contemporary twist.

Gillespie promises a “Greatest Hits” fare that will mix in some top items from his other restaurants.

Where Is Slabtown Public House Located?

Slabtown Public House is located at 670 DeKalb Ave., Atlanta, Ga. 30307 in the space formerly occupied by Cold Beer, another Gillespie and Show concept. Here’s a map to help you find it.

NeNe Leakes Alleges Discrimination In Lawsuit Against Bravo TV

    2 Min Read

Talk about too hot for TV: Former Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes recently filed a formal complaint against the show and Executive Producer Andy Cohen.

According to documents, which were filed on April 20, 2022, Leakes names NBCUniversal and production companies True Entertainment and Truly Original as defendants.

NeNe Leakes Alleges Systemic Racism In Lawsuit

A lot of the allegations go back to the initial seasons when Kim Zolciak-Biermann was a cast member on the show.

“From the day the series began filming, NeNe was the target of systemic racism from co-star Kim Zolciak-Biermann, which was tolerated by Bravo executive producer Andy Cohen and other executives,” Leakes’ attorney David deRubertis said in a written statement.

“The goals are to stop discriminating against black women,” Leakes told a TMZ reporter. “That’s the goal.”

Leakes said that she wanted to file the lawsuit a few years ago, but that she felt retaliated against.

Fam, we don’t know how this one is going to end up, but we know that Leakes has support from many of her friends.
