Authorities Identify Man Electrocuted At Lake Lanier

    2 Min Read

Another summer, another death at one of Georgia’s most popular watering holes: Lake Lanier.

Over the last week of July, a 24-year-old man has died in Lake Lanier, according to authorities.

Thomas Shepard Milner leaped off a dock and into the water and was shocked to death by electricity on Thursday, July 27, 2023, according to a press release from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office is still investigating events around the presumed electrocution as they await the official cause of death from the coroner.

A family friend tried to pull Milner out of the water, but was unsuccessful, according to the sheriff’s office. Finally, a neighbor was able to pull Milner out of the lake, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

The neighbor who helped pull the victim out of the water “reported feeling a burning sensation which they immediately recognized as an electric shock,” according to Atlanta News First.

The victim’s mother told the TV station that the dock had been built less than three years ago and was outfitted with electricity.

Milner would later be pronounced dead at Northside Forsyth Hospital.

Another person, 61-year-old Tracey Stewart, also died on Lake Lanier over the weekend after drowning.

Lake Lanier has been linked with some mysterious deaths since its inception in the 1950s. One common misconception was that the lake was built on top of a black town. In fact, Georgia’s Lake Lanier was not built on top of Oscarville, but rather, the construction of Buford Dam, which created the lake, flooded the area where the historic town of Oscarville was located.

    Atlanta Is Getting A Two-Story Chick-fil-A Restaurant

    2 Min Read

Chick-fil-A is doing it big next year with the construction and opening of a two-story restaurant in metro Atlanta.

The company recently made the announcement as part of its aggressive growth plans it will embark on over the years ahead.

Chick-fil-A To Build Two-Story Restaurant In Atlanta Area

Atlanta location will be part of two new restaurant concepts, with the other one being in New York City. The eateries will feature four dedicated Mobile Thru lanes, that have help ease wait times and make ordering easier, the company said.

Encouraged by the way the eatery’s customer service flourished during the COVID-era, the company is leaning into new digital formats to make interactions between the customer and Team Members as seamless as possible.

Where Will Chick-fil-A’s New Restaurant Concept Be Located?

Chick-fil-A has yet to confirm where the new two-story restaurant concept will be, but you can check out our interactive Chick-fil-A location finder.

“Digital orders make up more than half of total sales in some markets – and growing – so we know our customers have an appetite for convenience,” Khalilah Cooper, executive director, restaurant design, said in a press release.

In addition to the new Mobile Thru lanes, the new restaurant concept will have the following features.

    • A kitchen above the drive-thru lanes.
    • Orders delivered directly to the customer in a space protected by the upper level.
    • A walk-up concept designed for urban areas with heavy foot traffic.
    • Ability to serve guests quickly who order ahead of time in the Chick-fil-A App.

“Understanding this desire for convenience, the locations for these tests were intentionally selected with the customers in mind, giving them more control over their desired experience and cutting down wait-time, while continuing to provide genuine hospitality and care to every guest,’ she said.

    Final Word

Chick-fil-A has not elaborated on when exactly these new concepts will be built, but you can bet they will be constructed quickly as has been the restaurant’s M.O. in recent years.

Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young Marries Fiancée

    2 Min Read

It’s a ring for Trae Young! The star guard of the Atlanta Hawks got married on Saturday, July 23, 2023 in some nice summertime nuptials.

Instead of at one of Atlanta’s best wedding venues, the wedding was reportedly held in the Bahamas.

Young married his longtime fiancee Shelby Miller, who is expecting a baby girl, the couple’s second child.

Young recently announced that he and Miller were expecting. “I wanted to announce that my son Tydus is going to be a big brother… to a little girl,” Young said on his “From the Point” podcast. “Ain’t nothing like being a dad, bro.”

Young, 24, and Miller, 27, have been engaged since 2021 and the couple have been together since his college days in 2017 when they both attended  the University of Oklahoma. Young was a star basketball player and Miller was a cheerleader for the Sooners.

A photo shared on social media by Jarred Vanderbilt reveals a look at the celebrities that attended Young’s wedding. Notice anyone? Perhaps a particular singer?

Young and the Hawks are looking forward to some big things with the re-signing of Dejounte Murray to solidify the back court. Let’s wish the Young’s a wonderful marriage as the couple continues to plant roots in Atlanta.
May we all be “Forever Young,” as the theme of the wedding was.
